Kardashian-loved make-up artist reveals how to get £210 of beauty products for £55

Daily Mirror8 hours ago
We ask make-up artist and social media sensation Genevieve Turley about tips, trends and her new OK! Beauty Box – including a way for Mirror readers to get it for under £55
If you like looking at beauty content on Instagram or TikTok, the chances are that you will have seen some of Genevieve Turley's videos.
At a time when beauty can seem to mostly be perfectly edited images and unrealistic standards, professional make-up artist Gen's posts are refreshingly hilarious and down-to-earth – and they've drawn attention from A-listers such as Jennifer Aniston and the Kardashians.
Gen also worked on the ITV show Katie Piper's Weekend Escape, helping to make over members of the public with inspiring stories to tell, and has just released her own limited-edition edit with OK! Beauty Box, containing 11 of her favourite products – and a huge saving for Mirror readers to be had, too (keep scrolling for an exclusive offer)...
How did you get into doing make-up professionally?
I changed career in 2018. I had been a burns and plastics nurse in the RAF but make-up had long been a passion of mine, so once I had my daughter in 2017 I knew I wanted to leave the forces and start my own business. I had no idea what I was doing with social media at first, I just knew it was a free marketing tool and it was a great way to get my work out there.
What was the turning point in your career?
My presence on social media skyrocketed in 2024 when I started to do more comedy skits about make-up. My first one went viral on Instagram and both Kourtney and Khloé Kardashian commented on it. I went from 4,000 followers to 100,000 in weeks.
I like to make fun of trends but sometimes there is a serious undertone about the pressure of beauty standards.
How would you describe your make-up style?
Natural to soft glam. A lot of my professional work has been bridal, so I have plenty of experience with different skin tones, skin types, ages etc. Online, I like to show my audience how to use products, as the beauty world can be very overwhelming. Most women want simple tips to enhance their natural beauty.
And what can people expect from your social media accounts?
It's a real mishmash. Overall, I like to think my pages are relatable to women aged 35+. It's life on the go as a woman with two young kids and a dog. I review make-up and skincare while sharing tips and tricks, but I also try to bring some fun.
Social media can negatively impact a person's headspace, confidence and worthiness. I like to think that on mine, you will feel seen, empowered and upbeat.
What's the most ridiculous make-up trend you've seen recently?
So many! The blush hacks have gotten out of control. Just whack it on and get on with your day! And putting make-up onto clingfilm so you can splat it on your face in the morning. Wild! Dangerous, too, as young kids are online and this has obvious risks. Not worth the clickbait.
What was the most inspirational story you heard from working on Katie Piper's Weekend Escape?
There were so many. Michael [Douglas, celeb hair stylist] and I honestly had such a wonderful time with these incredible individuals who all had inspiring stories to share. One that sticks out was a lady whose young son died from type 1 diabetes. I was sitting in the room with tears rolling down my face. His mum had taken him to the GP and they said it was a virus. He could have so easily been saved. Just heartbreaking.
What was important to you wh en creating your OK! B eauty Box?
I've had so many beauty boxes over the years and always thought, 'What would I put in mine?' So when this happened I was delighted! I wanted great products that will make a big impact. Medik8 C-Tetra Lipid Vitamin C Radiance Serum is a showstopper. The Rodial Blush Drops will also be popular.
This box is a great opportunity to try products you may not have heard of or been afraid to splurge on, but with the massive saving (it's worth over £210 but costs £59.99), it takes away the worry.
What are your top tips for using the products inside?
Just have a play with them, feel the textures, and try different ways of applying them. Make-up and skincare should be a mix of TLC and creative play. I wanted products that were perfect for my 'natural make-up' women.
What's a quick and easy make-up trick that not enough people know?
Setting spray. Spritz after foundation and then again after adding powder. It helps to bond the make-up so it looks natural and skin-like, but also adds longevity. You can also spritz throughout the day to rehydrate your skin while also refreshing your make-up.
What would you pick as your ultimate desert island make-up product?
How can you ask me that?! If I have to say just one, it would be the Dr PawPaw Shea Butter Lip Balm from the box because it's so multifunctional. It's great for the lips but also gives a lovely glow to your cheeks, or you can pop it on your brows to add some shape. It's a great all-rounder and handbag essential.

Despite finding a connection with Madison Errichiello - from Love Is Blind US - she was reshuffled to date Jalen from Too Hot to Handle, meaning Freddie was eliminated from the villa by episode six. But Freddie is keen to go back for another chance of love, asking his followers: "Who wants to see me back in the house?" Tom & Maria - Altar no-show Their wedding day ended with a shocker - Tom walked away from the altar. Their differing values proved too big a hurdle, and they have since gone their separate ways. Both are still single. Maria has continued her work as a makeup artist and occasionally conducts street interviews, quizzing the public on dating and relationships. While Tom hosts a podcast about male behaviour in dating and relationships called "Why Do Men...?" Ollie & Demi - Almost, but not quite They got engaged, but didn't quite make it. Sparks flew while they were looking for love in another Netflix show, Perfect Match. They delighted fans as they captured their stunning beach proposal in a video both posted to Instagram and aired during the reunion episode. And now, they've got a little one on the way too. Meanwhile, Demi is single and focused on being an advocate for women's health and sports. Sam Klein - Engaged Sam faced a huge public backlash after Love is Blind aired, with viewers branding him a "villain" and "walking red flag". The pair starred together in BBC series Hetty Wainthropp Investigates, with Patricia playing the 60-year-old Lancashire lass solving mysteries with common sense. Dom, 48, played her assistant Geoffrey Shawcross from 1996 to 1998 and the duo clearly still have a close bond. The Lord of the Rings star posted their happy snap to his page and wrote: "25 YEARS later! "So wonderful to see Dame Patricia. "We always shared a love of acting, of actors, of the natural world and all of the curiosities of life, it was fantastic to spend a couple of hours doing the same! "She still tells fantastic stories, loves great food and wine, and as always is sharp as a tack, with fantastic skin and style. "She taught me so much, and continues to do so, aging with a class and quality I hope to emulate." He then added the caption: "hettywainthroppinvestigates forever! #becurious." The series ran spanned four series before it wrapped in 1998. Fans were left delighted by the unexpected reunion and one put: "So happy you got to meet up with her again after all these years. BBC Gardeners world fans in tears as star reveals terminal cancer diagnosis during show "Her storytelling is amazing." A second put: "The Hetty Wainthropp duo reunited!! That was such a lovely show. You both look very well!" A third gushed: "This absolutely made our day to see the two of you together again." One then confessed: "I am legit crying she's a national treasure." Another posted: "Awww this is so heartwarming ty for sharing Dom!" as one surmised: "This is the best!! "I loved you two in Hetty Wainthrop! You had such a good relationship on screen." Dame Patricia was left annoyed when the show wrapped and at the time she said: "We were betrayed by the BBC. "We finished series four of Hetty Wainthropp, we were told there was going to be series five. "But no word ever came - how rude." SCREEN QUEEN Previously, Dame Patricia stunned diners as she stepped out at a restaurant just before Christmas. She also played snobby character Hyacinth Bucket in the hit series Keeping Up Appearances, which ran from 1990 to 1995. After a glittering stage career she made her film debut in 1967's To Sir With Love as teacher Clinty Clintridge alongside singer Lulu and actor Sidney Poitier. She later scored household fame when she played Keeping Up Appearances' iconic character Hyacinth Bucket - of course pronounced Bouquet - for the show's five-year run. She also starred in Talking Heads, a series of dramatic monologues written for the BBC by acclaimed playwright Alan Bennett. He wrote three especially for her – A Lady of Letters, Miss Fozzard Finds her Feet and A Woman of No Importance. Despite her age and a career spanning more than 70 years, the star still looks incredibly youthful. In 2017, Patricia, who has never married and does not have children, was made a Dame thanks to her services to entertainment and charity. She is a patron of the Beatrix Potter Society and in 2008 received a Doctors of Letters degree from Lancaster University for her contribution to drama and theatre. 6 Dame Patricia is a legend of the small screen Credit: Times Newspapers Ltd 6 Dom also starred in Lord of the Rings

Scottish Channel 4 star's mad dash to Edinburgh Oasis gig after 'flight nightmare'

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Channel 4 star Danni Menzies shared a frantic message with her fans after she made a massive mistake in booking her flight to the capital for an Oasis gig. The 'A Place In The Sun' presenter had tickets to see the Britpop band at Murrayfield Stadium on Saturday August 9 and had made arrangements to fly in to the capital. But she was shocked when she realised a mistake had been made and her flight was booked for the wrong week - not a mistake you want to make with an Oasis gig on at the same time as the Festival Fringe, the Daily Record reports. This led to the Scot frantically driving back to her home country to make the gig in time. She made the revelation to fans on her TikTok. The 37-year-old explained her "absolute mare" to fans as she revealed she now has no option but to drive to Scotland from the middle of the countryside in England with her mum who she is planning to attend the gig with. Join Edinburgh Live's Whatsapp Community here and get the latest news sentstraight to your messages. To make matters worse for Danni, she added that she is not even sure if her Oasis tickets are real or not amid the large amount of scammers that have been selling fake tickets for the hotly anticipated gigs. Sharing a video with her 17.5k TikTok followers, Danni captioned the clip: "But how do I always get it wrong!? Oasis here I come (hopefully)". In the footage, she said: "I've had an absolute mare. "I was supposed to be flying up to Edinburgh this afternoon because I'm going to the Oasis gig tonight with my mother, and I've just gone to check in for the flight and realised that I booked the flight for next Saturday. "I'm in the middle of the countryside in England, it's going to take me two... over two hours to get back to London for the train. "So after taking everything into account, and the fact that on Wednesday I need to be going straight to a wedding in the Midlands and need my car. "So after taking everything into account, I've realised that the easiest way to do this is for me to drive to Scotland. "So it's 10.30am - oh, and also, I got the tickets on Viagogo. Not used it before, slightly concerned that they're not even going to work. "But we must try, so I'm just about to drive to Scotland - really hoping that I get there in time, really hoping there's not traffic. I'm really hoping that the tickets work!" Danni uploaded the video at 10:30am on Saturday with Oasis set to take to the stage at 8pm at Murrayfield. The Channel 4 star has since shared an update with fans as she made a pit stop on her journey to grab a coffee and a bite to eat. She revealed that things had not been going well on the drive so far as she explained: "I just stopped for snacks and coffee at Pret - I've been driving on back roads for the last hour and a bit because I missed the turn off, and I'm an idiot. "And I nearly wet myself because, at the age of 37, I can't seem to go more than an hour and a half in the car without desperately needing a wee. "So, anyway, we're back on the road - we will make it. I didn't realise it doesn't actually start until 8pm, so we've got loads of time - I can f*** everything up, perfect!"
