Mercedes-AMG, the performance division of the German luxury car manufacturer, is working on a new super electric sedan, which is expected to debut sometime next month, and has been revealed through a set of teaser images. Upon arrival, it will replace the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe. While the OEM previously released a shadowy teaser image previewing the upcoming car's silhouette, the new set of images provides a clearer look at the unnamed car.
The teaser image hints that the Mercedes-AMG will ditch the GT's liftback design for a traditional trunk. Also, it gets a clear body line separating the rear windscreen and the camouflaged rear spoiler can be figured out as well. There will be flush fitting door handles, large multi-spoke wheels and a coupe-like roof as well. The teaser images indicate that the upcoming sedan will be a long and large car. It is not clear if the rear taillights are real units or just decoys to hide the design, but the LED daytime running lights look like production-ready.

The upcoming Mercedes-AMG car will come riding on the brand's AMG.EA architecture, which is supposed to result in fun-to-drive electric cars. This platform will underpin an SUV, which will use YASA's axial-flux motors that are lightweight electric motors that can churn out up to 473 bhp peak power and 800 Nm of maximum torque.
The upcoming Mercedes-AMG model could come weighing a bit, which could affect how it handles. The AMG 4-Door GT plug-in hybrid with the V8 weighs more than a 2024 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The new car will have two electric motors, giving the sedan close to 986 bhp and 1,355 Nm of maximum torque. However, it's not clear if Mercedes-AMG will put these motors one on each axle, giving the car an all-wheel drive setup, or attach both to the rear for maximum chaos

Perplexity AI rolls out Perplexity Labs to write reports, spreadsheets and build apps

Perplexity AI has launched a new tool called Perplexity Labs to generate reports, spreadsheets, dashboards and more. The feature is available for Pro subscribers on the web, iOS and Android for now. 'Often performing 10 minutes or more of self-supervised work, Perplexity Labs use a suite of tools like deep web browsing, code execution, and chart and image creation to turn your ideas and to-do's into work that's been done,' a blog post announcing the news said. The files that are created by the tool are organised in a separate 'Assets' tab to be viewed and downloaded. It can also help build and deploy interactive web apps directly under an 'App' tab. Perplexity has said that the tool will soon be coming to their apps for Mac and Windows. Earlier this year, the Aravind Srinivas-led company unveiled a deep research tool to compete with OpenAI and Google while also previewing a web browser called Comet.

Mercedes-Benz presents two multipurpose vehicles to Parvatipuram-Manyam district in Andhra Pradesh

Parvatipuram-Manyam district received two multi-purpose vehicles, specially designed by Mercedes Benz, thanks to the initiative of Niti Aayog, which accepted the proposal submitted by the District Collector A. Shyam Prasad. Speaking to The Hindu, the Collector said the vehicles would enable the District Administration to meet the various needs of tribal people living in remote areas of Palakonda, Kurupam, Gummalakshmipuram, Makkuva, Saluru, and other mandals. He said the multipurpose vehicles will be used as mobile Giri Bazaars and to promote government welfare schemes meant for tribals. He thanked both Niti Aayog and Mercedes-Benz for sanctioning two vehicles under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. According to him, the vehicles will have audio-video facilities to highlight the welfare schemes of both the Union and State Governments. The officials and staff can also travel in the vehicles to create awareness among the tribals about the schemes and their benefits. On normal days, they function like Giri Bazaars and enable tribals to buy rice, pulses and other essential commodities at affordable rates. The district administration observed that many middlemen and traders are fleecing the gullible people with imitative and inferior products, which are also sold at exorbitant rates. Currently, the district administration is using a few vehicles for the Giri Bazaars. The two vehicles provided by Mercedes-Benz would enable the officials to send essential commodities to faraway places as the vehicles can move easily on ghat roads.

Mark Zuckerberg-led Meta forays into defence sector, signs deal with Anduril for ‘AI, mixed reality gear'

Mark Zuckerberg-led Meta Platforms and defence technology startup Anduril Industries have announced a deal to develop 'mixed reality gear' to provide soldiers with enhanced control on the battlefields, according to reports. The development, will fuse Meta's augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI) tech with Anduril's data analytics platform 'Lattice', into a product such as glasses, goggles or visors, AFP reported. 'Meta has spent the last decade building AI and AR to enable the computing platform of the future. We're proud to partner with Anduril to help bring these technologies to the American servicemembers that protect our interests at home and abroad,' Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in the release. Anduril describes its Lattice platform as an AI-powered command and control system that integrates data from thousands of sources to provide real-time battlefield intelligence for decision making. The partnership will include developing new products for US military use and includes an AI-powered helmet with virtual reality (VR) and AR features, according to a Bloomberg report. Anduril is working with Meta 'to design, build, and field a range of integrated XR products that provide warfighters with enhanced perception and enable intuitive control of autonomous platforms on the battlefield', the company blog said. According to a report by Core Memory, at least one of the products will be a 'sci-fi-style military helmet' named 'Eagle Eye'. 'It's the thing that everyone's always wanted. People have called them different things: They've called them Call of Duty googles. They've called it, you know, the helmet from Halo. These are old ideas that have only recently become really technologically viable,' Palmer Luckey, the co-founder of Anduril, told Core Memory in an interview. Notably, Meta changed its 'acceptable use' policies in November to allow use of its large language AI models by US military contractors, including Lockheed Martin Corp., Booz Allen Hamilton Holding Corp. and Palantir Technologies Inc. A spokesperson for Meta did not immediately respond to a request for comment, Bloomberg said. Notably, Anduril's Luckey also co-founded Oculus VR, the gaming headset company he sold to Meta in 2014. He was removed from Meta after controversy around financing a group creating anti-Hillary Clinton memes ahead of the 2016 US presidential election. Since Donald Trump's re-election, Mark Zuckerberg's politics too have trended rightward. The tech billionaire also bought a $23 million residence in Washington DC. (With inputs from Agencies)
