Jets battle at DT opposite Quinnen Williams one to watch at training camp
Last season, it was Javon Kinlaw and Solomon Thomas who played the most snaps opposite Williams inside. Both were on one-year contracts, and neither player was retained this offseason. Kinlaw cashed in via a three-year, $45 million contract with the Washington Commanders in free agency, and Thomas signed a two-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys.

The initial favorite to replace them is Derrick Nnadi. New general manager Darren Mougey signed Nnadi to a one-year contract this offseason. The experienced defensive tackle is a nine-year pro who has played a rotational role for the Kansas City Chiefs throughout his entire career, appearing in 115 games and winning three Super Bowls.
Some of the other intriguing options inside include Phidarian Mathis and Leonard Taylor III. Mathis was a 2022 second-round pick of the Commanders who didn't meet expectations in Washington. He suffered several injuries in D.C., and was claimed off waivers by the Jets in December. Taylor showed promise last season as a rookie undrafted free agent who played his way into the lineup.
And then there's Byron Cowart and Jay Tufele. Tufele is a nose tackle who's bounced around the league, and Cowart is a veteran journeyman who most recently played for the Chicago Bears.
Nnadi offers a veteran presence next to Williams. Taylor flashed upside last season, and Mathis is an intriguing bounce-back project with untapped potential and talent. It'll be worth monitoring the position battle at defensive tackle throughout training camp.

2025 Buffalo Bills training camp insight: Defensive tackles
The Buffalo Bills are moving into their next major offseason phase in due time: Training camp. The Bills will kick off their 2025 training camp on July 23 at St. John Fisher University. As with every offseason, Bills Wire will examine each position group ahead of this pivotal time on the football calendar. Our 2025 defensive tackles preview can be found below: At the top The Bills love to rotate their players along the defensive line. However, the one player that stands out among this group is Ed Oliver. The former ninth-overall draft pick has shown moments of dominance and disruption against interior lines. Oliver's athleticism is well documented. Oliver took a bit of a step back last year, seeing his tackles and sack totals drop from an outstanding 2023 season. The leading player to saddle up next to Oliver as a 1-tech tackle is DaQuan Jones. Jones had 23 total tackles and 2.5 sacks last year. Depth chart Buffalo has a bevy of options to add as part of their rotation. The Bills signed Larry Ogunjobi in free agency. However, Ogunjobi will miss the first six games of the season due to a PED suspension. Buffalo drafted TJ Sanders and Deone Walker in this year's draft. The Bills also return 2024 third-round pick DeWayne Carter as well. Carter flashed at times as a rookie, but he will need to make a major step forward to see snaps with the added competition. Zion Logue, Casey Rogers, and Marcus Harris round out the defensive tackles group. In 2025... Buffalo will rely on this group extensively this year. Buffalo needs this group to consistently win battles and dominate opposing offensive linemen. It's no longer good enough to have flashes of great play--this unit needs to be a massive problem on a snap-by-snap basis. The ripple effect will be monumental on the remainder of the defense. Simply put, Buffalo needs the 2023 version of Ed Oliver to be present this year. Oliver set a career-best with 9.5 sacks that season. DaQuan Jones needs to eat blockers to allow the athleticism of linebackers and edge rushers to make plays. It will be an interesting competition as the training camp unfolds. With the Bills so close to the promised land, a great deal of their success will rely on how this group disrupts opposing offensive lines. We are leaning toward the idea that this group can create a bigger disruption and get more consistent results than other groups from previous defenses. A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Dave East and Complex's Speedy Morman steal the early buzz. Rutgers guard and San Antonio Spurs No. 2 overall pick Dylan Harper drops by his old stomping grounds. But then Luka steps onto the blacktop. The crowd swallows the court. The Slovenian superstar commands a presence that can only be described as magnetic, the kind of star power that makes you wonder: could No. 77 ever bring Luka Magic to Madison Square Garden? The thought feels far-fetched. What Doncic witnessed Doncic arrived at Dyckman at 8:11 p.m., making his grand entrance just after the first game ended, and didn't leave until 90 minutes later — an eternity for a superstar in a setting this intimate. He shot casually on the blacktop, hitting one from the sideline while seated courtside like he was warming up for a game at The Garden. He dapped up the winners of the second NY vs. NY matchup and stayed glued to the 3-point line as a spectator for The Ones: two one-on-one showdowns that had the park buzzing. The girls' matchup went down to the wire before Olivia Jones stormed back to take the win. Then Denim Troutman opened the boys' game with a humiliating 15-0 run and never looked back, showing no mercy to his own high school teammate. High school headliner Before Doncic's arrival, one player owned the Dyckman stage. Cardinal Hayes guard Kaelen Destin put on a scoring clinic in the high school showcase. A pure bucket at 6-2, Destin dropped 21 points and four assists in just eight-minute quarters, earning a scholarship offer from West Virginia mid-game to his growing list (Drexel, Northern Illinois, FIU, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M).
