Violet Grey Launches Perfume Label With $1,100 Fragrance

Violet Grey, the Los Angeles-based retailer known for its high-gloss creative, has quietly debuted a fragrance label called Madame Grey, offering a $100 hair perfume and limited-edition $1,100 Extrait de Parfum.
The Extrait, nosed by perfumer Jérôme Epinette, is housed in a limited run of 1100 'handcrafted' glass flagons, according to its description on Madame Grey's direct to consumer website, which quietly appeared this month. The scent is advertised as a 'transfixing ode to the one that got away' on Madame Grey's website, where it's available for pre-order, but no scent profile information is provided.
The fragrance is also distilled into a hair mist, Pour Cheveux Strip-Tease available now for $100. A hair mist, featuring a less concentrated version of the Extrait scent, is available for $100. (Madame Grey)
The website also announced the Madame Grey Estate, a space on New York's Upper East Side described as the 'studio and private art collection of creative director Cassandra Grey.' The space will be open from June 2 through 7, and will culminate in an auction of fine jewelry and objêt from the likes of Cartier and Fabergé, alongside a bottle of the Extrait de Parfum.
Violet Grey was founded in 2013 by Cassandra Grey, a stylist and marketer who is credited with helping launch brands like Augustinus Bader on the strength of her network and editorial perspective. Farfetch purchased Violet Grey in 2022 to build its budding beauty division, an aim it later abandoned; Grey purchased the retailer back from Farfetch in fall 2024 with the private equity investor Sherif Guirgis, who became co-owner and chief executive.
Since then, Violet Grey has expanded east, opening a shop-in-shop at Long Island department store Hirshleifers, and will open its Madison Avenue boutique in June.
Despite only recently appearing, Madame Grey has been in the works for some time. The brand's associated Instagram account, @madamegrey_parfum, has steadily posted moodboard imagery including Guy Bourdin photographs and midcentury interior design objects since 2019.

WWE Money In The Bank 2025 Results As R-Truth Returns, Shafts John Cena

At WWE Money in the Bank 2025, Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso got a modicum of revenge on John Cena and Logan Paul. So, too, did R-Truth. In his first match since WrestleMania 41, Rhodes defeated WWE's ultimate-yet-unlikely heel duo when he planted with a Cross Rhodes finisher in front of a raucous crowd inside the Intuit Dome after R-Truth made his shocking return to WWE. While that wasn't exactly bull-blown revolution after Rhodes' WWE title loss to Cena two months ago, it was perhaps a small taste of things to come. And of course, it was an incredible moment for Truth, who had reportedly parted ways with WWE only to show up in Inglewood amid major fan backlash to his apparently short-lived departure. A rare bout pitting WWE's two world champions on opposing sides, Rhodes and Uso were the overwhelming crowd favorites in Los Angeles, and once Truth showed up, you just knew that the babyfaces were going to end the show on a high note. After the way Cena vs. Rhodes had been booked heading into Money in the Bank, it was necessary for Rhodes and Uso to pick up a pivotal win. Yet, no one expected Truth to play such a key role in that win. Rhodes appears to be back in contention for Cena's WWE Championship while Uso will defend his World Heavyweight Championship against former champion Gunther on this week's Raw. WWE once planned for this match to feature rapper Travis Scott in either tag team or six-man action before the global star reportedly got cold feet. As it turns out, that was the right call. Paul and Cena made for quite the villainous duo, giving fans a fantastic performance against Uso and Rhodes that started off slow but got red hot by the conclusion of Money in the Bank. Among the biggest highlights of the match were: Paul's amazing springboard moonsault through the announce table, Truth's unforgettable return and Rhodes pinning Cena. What began as a slow and somewhat boring match really picked up about halfway through when Cena and Paul began to have some miscommunication. That paved the way for Cena and Uso to get back on track and for Truth to show up and save the day. Now, Rhodes can say that he pinned Cena, Cena can say that he beat Rhodes, and Cena will potentially have both Truth and Rhodes to deal with in the weeks ahead. In just three weeks, WWE will return to Saudi Arabia for Night of Champions, where traditionally all WWE titles are defended. The question is: Does WWE really want to do Rhodes vs. Cena II in Saudia Arabia? Well, that isn't as far-fetched as it might sound. WWE, after all, is reportedly considering hosting WrestleMania in Saudi Arabia at some point, possibly with a rebranding of 'Super WrestleMania.' With WWE potentially bringing its biggest show of the year to Saudi Arabia, don't be surprised if Cena vs. Rhodes II takes place there too after Rhodes pinned Cena at WWE Money in the Bank 2025. The other top option for a second Cena vs. Rhodes match is WWE SummerSlam 2025, which will be a two-night event for the first time in history. SummerSlam is arguably WWE's second biggest pay-per-view outside of WrestleMania, making it the ideal stage for a match of great magnitude like Cena vs. Rhodes is. Given what transpired at WWE Money in the Bank, a Cena vs. Rhodes rematch is all but a certainty, perhaps with Truth involved in some capacity. It's a popular theory that Rhodes will ultimately win the WWE title back from Cena. While SummerSlam 2025 would be a fantastic fit for that title rematch, it's unlikely that WWE will be able to extend the feud that long without it getting too boring. The Cena vs. Rhodes feud hasn't really clicked so far, and their WrestleMania 41 was underwhelming too. While they had a better performance at WWE Money in the Bank 2025, Night of Champions is much closer and therefore a much likelier option than SummerSlam for their expected rematch. Uso jumps right back into action in two nights when he defends his world title against Gunther, the man he beat to win the championship at WrestleMania, on Raw on Netflix. Is it likely that Uso drops the title mere weeks after winning it? No. But there have been some subtle and obvious signs that Uso's buddy Sami Zayn is going to turn on Uso in the near future. Zayn, of course, has never held a world title in WWE and has made it very clear that he wants to win a world championship for the first time. After WWE Money in the Bank, Uso is reigniting his feud with Gunther, but he may actually be starting off a feud with Zayn. Whether Zayn costs Uso the world championship or attacks him afterward, a Zayn vs. Uso world title feud feels inevitable. It's just a matter of when. If Uso does retain his WWE World title on Raw as expected, one possible way to accomplish that is by getting some help from WWE legend Goldberg. Yes, Goldberg is expected to return soon to kick off his retirement run, which reportedly could take place next month in Atlanta. Goldberg's likeliest retirement match opponent is none other than Goldberg, which might explain why WWE is booking Uso vs. Gunther on Raw in the first place. The scenario is an easy one to envision and to book: Goldberg returns toward the end of the match, costs Gunther the bout and the world title, and then, the two stars build toward a retirement match next month. After Uso's big win alongside Rhodes at WWE Money in the Bank 2025, his momentum is soaring, and he'll likely get a big assist from Goldberg to keep it going on Raw on Netflix.

Pussy Riot co-founder back in prison cell -- at LA museum

Nadya Tolokonnikova, the co-founder of the feminist art collective Pussy Riot, is back in a prison cell -- but this time, she has gone willingly. At the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, the Russian activist is staging "Police State" -- a two-week piece of performance art aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of authoritarianism and oppression. Tolokonnikova -- who spent nearly two years in a Russian penal colony for performing a protest song against Vladimir Putin in a Moscow church in 2012 -- knows a bit about the topic. Through the installation, which opened Thursday and runs through June 14, she says she hopes to teach visitors about what she believes to be the advent of a new means of control -- technology. While she is in the mock cell, during all museum opening hours, she will eat, use the toilet, sew clothes as she once did in her real cell and create "soundscapes." Visitors can observe her through holes in the cell or on security camera footage. "People don't treat authoritarianism seriously," Tolokonnikova told AFP. Seated in a makeshift Russian prison cell, wearing a green tracksuit, the 35-year-old activist says in several countries, the concept of a "police state" is expanding. "As someone who lived under authoritarian rule for over 25 years, I know how real it is and how it starts, step by step, on the arrest of one person. You think, 'Well, it's not about me'," she explained. "And then next thing we know, the entire country is under the military boot." - 'We all have to contribute' - For Tolokonnikova, Donald Trump's return to the White House in January has sparked an "erosion of the system of checks and balances," which she deemed "very dangerous." She says the artistic community, and society in general, should do more to counter governmental abuses of power, wherever they may occur, and stop "outsourcing politics and political action." "I feel like it's as if there is someone else who's going to save us from everything. That's not what works really. We all have to contribute." Some who visited the installation said they agreed with Tolokonnikova that society had become too passive. "I feel like Americans don't want to believe that we could be in danger of losing our freedoms," said Jimmie Akin, a graphic designer who said she was worried about the policy changes since Trump took office. "People need to wake up." - Sewing machine and Navalny - For 29-year-old Hannah Tyler, "Police State" was a bit of a shock to the system. "We're living in a country where we aren't facing the same extreme oppression that she did in Russia, but getting close to it. I felt inspired to take more action than I have been," Tyler said. Tolokonnikova's installation has some symbolic features. She has books and artworks made by Russian, US and Belarusian prisoners, as well as a drawing by late Russian dissident Alexei Navalny. A sewing machine recalls the manual labor of her incarceration. Words of protest are carved into the walls. For Alex Sloane, the museum's associate curator, the installation shows how "increased surveillance and government overreach" are becoming more and more widespread, and "freedoms are at risk." "We should do all that we can to make sure" that such circumstances are kept at bay, Sloane said. pr/bdx/sst/nl

Bryana Bongolan's Alleged Injury Photos From Diddy Balcony Incident Filed As Evidence

Diddy faced accusations of dangling a woman off a balcony during his trial this week ... with the prosecution entering photos of her alleged injuries -- though the defense countered the claims. Bryana Bongolan -- a fashion designer and friend of Cassie's -- testified that Diddy stormed into Cassie's apartment one night. While Bongolan was out on the balcony, either smoking a blunt or about to, she says Diddy grabbed her and held her over the balcony. She alleges he screamed ... "You know what the f*** you did" at her before she says he pulled her back onto the balcony and slammed her into some furniture. Bongolan testified that she suffered a leg injury and neck issues after Diddy allegedly attacked her ... and, the prosecution presented photos of these alleged injuries -- a large bruise and hole in Bongolan's leg as well as patches on her neck and back. However, the prosecution says these photos have metadata that indicates they were taken on September 26, 2016. Diddy's team fought back against the date -- pointing out he was on the East Coast on the "Bad Boy Family Reunion" tour at the time and couldn't have been in L.A. where Bongolan says the incident went down. Prosecutors later pointed to texts Cassie sent to Kristina Khorram -- Diddy's employee often referred to as his chief of staff -- which indicate the alleged assault may have happened a few days after the photos were taken. Bongolan had trouble remembering key details of the alleged incident in her recounts ... changing what she was smoking on the balcony and saying she couldn't recall quite a bit during her retelling of it. So, it's unclear how exactly Bryana sustained the injuries in these photos ... but, they certainly led to some fireworks in court.
