
Mobile app to bring service delivery closer to residents
This innovative platform allows users to log service requests, track request progress, and receive real-time updates – all from their smartphones.
MMC for Corporate and Shared Services, Kholofelo Morodi, said the platform helps residents by cutting out red tape and long waiting times. He added that the city aims to bring services closer to the people it serves.
She said that projections already indicate that the app will cut foot traffic to service centres by up to 40%, freeing up resources for infrastructure development and faster frontline delivery.
According to Morodi, this initiative marks a clear break from the 'era of service delivery collapse' and unresponsive governance that plagued the city in recent years.
She said, 'The Tshwane App is a ground-breaking mobile platform that places the power of local government directly into the hands of residents.
'This free and easy-to-use app empowers residents to bypass long queues, endless phone calls, and red tape.'
Morodi said that everything from reporting power outages and water leaks to paying municipal bills can now all be done instantly from your smartphone.
Key features include:
– Immediate logging of service faults, with GPS and photo uploads
– Real-time tracking of reported issues – no more waiting for slow responses from the metro
– Secure, instant bill payments
– Integration with WhatsApp and e-Tshwane for wider accessibility.
Morodi hailed the Tshwane App as a turning point for clean, digital governance in the city.
She stated, 'We are here to fix things. The Tshwane App is a political commitment to transparency, efficiency, and restoring trust.
'Our people are tired of being ignored. This platform ensures they are finally heard and served in real-time.'
She explained that this is a digital leap forward that aligns with the smart city strategy. 'One of the key pillars of this administration's vision is for a modern, responsive, and accountable government.'
The app is available on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and the Huawei AppGallery.
The Tshwane App followed the launch of seven regional WhatsApp channels to provide residents with up-to-date information on service delivery issues.
The Mayor, Dr Nasiphi Moya, announced the initiative on social media and encouraged residents to subscribe to the relevant regional channels, using the infographics provided by the metro to find out which region they fall into.
She said the goal of these digital services is to streamline communication on issues like power outages, water leaks, and potholes.

Sellers choose to store their products in third-party warehouses located within South Africa. This allows for faster delivery since the items don't have to be shipped from overseas. Temu highlights the estimated delivery time for each local product and even shows the fastest time a seller has achieved, along with how consistently they hit that mark, giving shoppers a clearer idea of what to expect. Because these products are already in the country, they don't incur import duties. However, shoppers should be aware that a R75 delivery fee applies for each seller if your order from them totals less than R650. That means if you're buying from multiple sellers and none of your orders exceed R650, you'll be paying R75 per seller at checkout. Customer service overhaul aims to cut queues, boost attitudes
The Tshwane metro has started efforts to enhance customer experience. The mayor, Nasiphi Moya, conducted an important oversight visit to its customer care centres in Akasia and Rosslyn on June 15. According to her, the initiative was prompted by interactions with residents, which indicated that the services provided at the centres need improvement. 'Our residents have often complained about the attitude of our staff members and the long waiting times for assistance,' she said. She said the oversight visit was part of efforts to improve the quality of services by municipal staff. 'We have made it clear to our municipal workers that residents should see our offices as destinations for help and not places of frustration,' Moya said. She said that in January, the metro paid a visit to the Middestad Customer Care Centre, which is classified as a mega centre, offering all municipal-related services. Moya further mentioned that in the current financial year, a budget has been allocated for the revision of customer service offerings. 'We have set aside R304-million for our customer relations department to help fund the reconfiguration of our customer service offering.' According to her, the metro will in future be categorising its walk-in centres as mega, satellite or mobile. She stated that this will help expand services based on regional needs and capacity. 'In Region 1, the Akasia and Soshanguve Block F customer centres will be reclassified as mega-centres – expanding the services offered in the region,' she said. She added that the metro plans to upgrade its online customer service office and will be upgrading its existing virtual contact centre.
