'Missing' Coronation Street character returns next week after fans left concerned

Yahoo23-04-2025

This article contains spoilers for Coronation Street.
Coronation Street fans have been left concerned about the whereabouts of Gary Windass recently (played by Mikey North), but fear not, he's back in Weatherfield.
It comes as the Corrie favourite was last spotted on the cobbles back in January, around the time Mason Radcliffe's death storyline aired on the longest-running UK soap.
Yet after weeks of ITV viewers asking where he is, as he's 'not been on screen for months', and fans not recalling any mentions of the star since, it appears a new plot is on the horizon for Gary and wife Maria Connor.
Next week: Carl makes a move on Abi, Maria fears Mick is bad news and Daisy says goodbye to Weatherfield. Read more here: https://t.co/jsY0meBaLI#Corrie pic.twitter.com/mCv1xYP012

Over the past few days, Corrie fans have been asking on X where the character has disappeared to, as someone questioned: '@itvcorrie where's Gary Windass he's not been on screen for mths has he left?'
Another also wondered: 'Has Gary Windass left the show?'
This person posted: 'Where is Gary Windass? Really need his storyline in #Corrie #Coronationstreet.'
One ITV viewer said: 'Gary Windass would knock Mick into next week. Where is Gary btw? He hasn't been on screen for ages? #Corrie.'
A confused X user shared: 'Right where have cast members disappeared to -for example where the hell is Gary Windass and we barely see Mariah either? And while we are at it, what happend to the Trim Up North barbers? Have I missed something?'
This person also asked the Corrie account on social media: 'any chance we see gary windass appear in the near future? cheers.'
However, spoilers for the soap next week have revealed Gary 'shocks' his wife Maria when he announces his plans to buy another local business.
While in Roy's Rolls, he confesses to Maria that sales are slow at the furniture shop and he's thinking of selling up and using the money to buy the builder's yard, Digital Spy reports.
A Coronation Street insider told the publisher: 'While Gary is wrapped up in his dream, Maria is thinking more sensibly.
'She knows they have Liam to think about and can't afford to make silly decisions that could destroy their financial stability.
"Yet, Gary's got itchy feet and misses the builder's yard he used to manage, so he won't let an opportunity to own it for himself slide.'
But soon after, villain Mick Michaelis urges Gary to go ahead with the plans – Maria then comes across the pair having a 'celebratory drink' in the Bistro – but what are they toasting to?

The Corrie insider also told Digital Spy: 'Maria couldn't be clearer in telling Mick he's not welcome.
"After the trouble she's had with his feisty other half, Lou, the couple aren't in her good books, and she thinks it's a mistake for Gary to trust him."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV1 and ITVX.

Stephen Mulhern makes unprecedented blunder on ITV's Catchphrase

Game show host Stephen Mulhern sent celebrity contestants into hysterics with a rare blunder while hosting ITV's Catchphrase. The show, which asks contestants to identify a well-known phrase or idiom based on a short animated clip, featured Jeremy Vine, Charlie Hedges and comedian Luke Kempner on the latest episode. At one point, a clip was shown depicting pastries with escalating price tags, which are then shown bursting through the roof of the building. Narrating the clip in an effort to encourage answers, Mulhern remarked: 'Literally, the prices have gone through the roof!' However, he quickly realised that he had given away the answer in its entirety. 'Sorry, what? Was that the answer?' said Jeremy Vine, after buzzing in. 😱 @StephenMulhern makes a HUGE mistake - for the first time in 10 years! — Catchphrase (@Catchphrase) June 7, 2025 "I have never in my life done that. In 10 years!" Mulhern said, with his head in his hands. 'I was just thinking 'this is a very tricky one, if it's not that!' added Kempner, who then joked that Mulhern had taken his prize money tally up to £200. Vine remarked that the incident represented 'a bit of Catchphrase history'. Catchphrase first began in 1986 and was hosted by Irish comedian Roy Walker. He was succeeded by Nick Weir in 2000, and Mark Curry in 2002 before the series was cancelled that year. Mulhern began hosting the revival in 2012, which initially involved members of the public as contestants. Since 2018, the programme has featured celebrity contestants, who compete to win money for charity. Celebrity Catchphrase was recently renewed for an 11th series on ITV. ITV commissioner Gemma John-Lewis said: 'We're delighted to announce a further series of the much-loved family favourite, Celebrity Catchphrase. 'The only show where you say what you see, the hugely popular series continues to win legions of fans and with Stephen's infectious and playful humour it's a firm favourite with our viewers.'
