Gangtok, Aug 18 (UNI) A historic and potentially decisive meeting that could reshape Sikkim's future has begun in New Delhi under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay). Widely regarded as a turning point, the talks are being closely followed as they are expected to pave the way for Sikkim's long-standing demand to be declared a Tribal state. Senior officials from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) and the Social Welfare Department are part of the high-level discussions. Himachal HC dismisses appeal seeking appointment over Bharat Scouts & Guides Certificate mark
States » North Shimla, Aug 18 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh High Court has dismissed an appeal filed by Manoj Sharma, who had challenged the rejection of his claim for appointment to the post of Shastri under Post Code-813. The Division Bench comprising Chief Justice G.S. Sandhawalia and Justice Ranjan Sharma upheld the earlier judgment of a Single Judge that denied relief to Sharma. The appellant had contended that he was unfairly denied one additional mark for possessing a Bharat Scouts & Guides certificate, which could have secured his appointment. Mr. Sharma argued that the recruitment rules were altered midway through the process, depriving him of the benefit. He claimed that if awarded the mark, his total score would have surpassed those of candidates appointed from the court, however, ruled that the recruitment agency had uniformly applied the criteria to all candidates and had clearly specified which certificates qualified for marks. Certificates such as Dwitya Sopan, Tritya Sopan, Rajya Puraskar, and Rashtrapati Puraskar were accepted, while participation in single events like peace rallies was not considered sufficient for the Supreme Court's ruling in Tej Prakash Pathak vs. Rajasthan High Court (2025), the Bench observed that eligibility norms cannot be changed during the recruitment process unless permitted under existing rules. It held that the clarification issued in November 2021 regarding acceptable certificates was applied universally and did not amount to arbitrary action or no illegality or violation of Article 14 of the Constitution, the court dismissed Sharma's plea, affirming that no injustice had been this decision, the High Court has put to rest Sharma's claim for retrospective appointment benefits, including seniority and pay scale, based on the disputed ML RN More News Himachal HC dismisses appeal seeking appointment over Bharat Scouts & Guides Certificate mark 18 Aug 2025 | 11:49 PM Shimla, Aug 18 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh High Court has dismissed an appeal filed by Manoj Sharma, who had challenged the rejection of his claim for appointment to the post of Shastri under Post Code-813. see more..
