MasterChef 's Yanin Campos Dead at 38 After Car Crash
The MasterChef family is mourning the loss of one of their own.
Yanin Campos—who appeared on season four of the cooking competition series—died on August 4 following a tragic car crash, her brother Raúl confirmed on Facebook. She was 38 years old.
'To family and friends,' Raúl wrote in the August 6 post, translated from Spanish. 'We inform and mourn the death of my sister Yanin Campos.'
According to Raúl's message, Yanin's family held a wake on August 4 at Hernández Funeral 'for those who like to say goodbye' to the late content creator.
Campos was driving in her home city of Chihuahua, Mexico, on August 2, the Mexican Secretariat of Public Security told local newspaper El Financiero, when she suddenly collided with a parked vehicle around 6:30 a.m. local time.
Though the influencer was quickly rushed to a local hospital, per the outlet, she succumbed to her injuries two days later. The outlet also confirmed that local authorities are investigating whether excessive speed or distracted driving contributed to the cause of the fatal crash.

Yanin gained popularity when she appeared on season four of MasterChef in 2018. And while she ended up finishing the competition in sixth place, she was invited back the following year to compete in MasterChef México: La Revancha.
Following her time on reality TV, Campos—who initially trained as a nurse before pursuing her talents as a chef—created a name for herself on social media, amassing nearly 100,000 followers on TikTok, where she shared funny and relatable lifestyle content.
Underneath her most recent TikTok post, which was posted just two days before her passing, fans took to the comments to express their heartbreak.
'It will never cease to amaze me how ridiculously fragile life is,' one user wrote in a translated comment. 'Right now it's just a normal day, but in a few seconds everything will change forever, and you won't even realize it. You'll just know it's the end, or sometimes not even that.'
'Laugh, love, enjoy, hug, and remind your loved ones of the love you have for them,' the message continued. 'Life is amazing and cares about absolutely nothing. RIP. I wish you a safe journey.'

This Tequila Is So Exclusive You Have To Apply To Drink It
You can drink it neat or use it to make a margarita (Jennifer Aniston's favorite cocktail). You can buy it from Jose Cuervo, Tres Agaves, or one of the many brands owned by celebrities. It's a drink so fun that they named a bopping surf rock instrumental after it and had Pee Wee Herman dance to it. Tequila is a delightful, versatile, frequently misunderstood spirit, and one that has been historically pretty easy to get one's hands on. But there's a new, hyper-luxurious brand of tequila coming out — one that's so exclusive you have to fill out an application to even be considered to taste it. It's called Tequila Purísima, and it's the brainchild of Brent Hocking, an entrepreneur who has become a big name in the high-end liquor market. (He's a frequent collaborator with Drake, which honestly explains a lot about this whole situation.) Tequila Purísima sells itself as the best of the best, made in small batches with very high-quality ingredients; the whole bit with the application, then, is a way to reinforce the tequila's rarity. Hocking specifically contrasts this quality-first approach with the myriad of celebrity-endorsed tequilas that have saturated the market, which we guess is a noble enough aim. Still, the brand's landing page, with its tagline "for those who know better" and its button asking you to "request consideration", is a little much. At least George Clooney didn't ask us to prove our worth before he deigned to sell us hooch, y'know? Read more: 14 Bourbons That Aren't Worth Buying Tequila Purísima Is A Seriously Fancy Tequila It is, admittedly, quite easy to make fun of a tequila presented with such self-important gravitas, especially when it comes in a bottle with such suggestive shape. (We freely admit to not knowing the best practices when it comes to shaping tequila bottles, but none of the other ones we've seen are shaped like something you'd buy at a Spencer's in the mall.) But just because tequila is a relatively inexpensive liquor to produce doesn't mean it's okay to put aside quality altogether, which plenty of celebrity-endorsed liquors, tequila or otherwise, have done far too often. Hocking's product is made in a single distillery in Mexico from agave plants with an exceptionally high sugar count, and the cooking process takes three days. You certainly can't say that care wasn't taken to provide a quality product — but you certainly can't say it's cheap, either. A single bottle of Tequila Purisima blanco costs $400, which is very expensive for tequila. (For context, Hocking's previous excursion into tequila blanco was sold for $150 a bottle, which was itself considered an eye-popping figure at the time.) It's entirely possible that the product is worth the price, but us hoi polloi probably won't be able to find out. For more food and drink goodness, join The Takeout's newsletter. Foo Fighters Keep Climbing With New Surprise Single
About a month ago, Foo Fighters returned with a brand new single titled 'Today's Song.' So far, the track isn't connected to any album, and the band hasn't announced a new chapter. That lack of information may be helping the cut, as the mystery has fueled excitement among fans who are now hoping more new music is on the way. The latest from the Grammy-winning group debuted high on several charts when it arrived and has since been embraced across a variety of radio formats in the United States. New Peaks on Multiple Radio Charts 'Today's Song' appears on five Billboard charts this week, almost all of them focused on radio. That's where the track is on the rise, and this frame it reaches a new peak on three of the five tallies it inhabits. The Foo Fighters cut breaks into the top five on both the Alternative Airplay and Mainstream Rock Airplay charts, improving to Nos. 3 and 5, respectively. It also rises higher than ever on the Adult Alternative Airplay tally, leaping from No. 26 to No. 19 in its third frame. Gains on Hot Hard Rock Songs Chart While it doesn't earn a new best showing, the Foo Fighters' newest tune does gain on the Hot Hard Rock Songs chart, the all-consumption ranking of the most popular hard rock-only tracks in America. In its five weeks on the list, 'Today's Song' has climbed as high as No. 5, and this week it moves up one space to No. 17. Holding the No. 1 Spot on Rock & Alternative Airplay 'Today's Song' continues to reign over the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart. The cut earned one of the fastest ascents to No. 1 in the history of that ranking, which measures the most successful tracks at rock radio in the U.S. The song may stay on the throne for some time, as Foo Fighters remain one of the most popular acts in both rock and alternative music.
