Cardinals claim OL Roy Mbaeteka off waivers
Mbaeteka replaces Valentin Senn as the team's international player, with Senn now on injured reserve.
He has spent time with the Giants, Bears and Browns since coming into the league in 2022.
Mbaeteka, a native of Nigeria, did not play high school or college football.
He arrived to the Giants via the NFL's International Pathway Program.
The Cardinals needed some depth at the position after second-year tackle Christian Jones hurt his knee Saturday against the Chiefs. Coach Jonathan Gannon said Jones will 'miss some time' because of the injury.
Senn injured his neck in training camp, ending his season. The native of Austria played college football at Colorado and Connecticut.

That title, and those responsibilities, belonged to Marshon Lattimore — who'd already made three Pro Bowls in his first four seasons, won Defensive Rookie of the Year and had established himself as one of the premier corners in the league. Instead, over the next four years, New Orleans kept Adebo mostly on the left side and Lattimore on the right. Advertisement 'It wasn't necessarily a preference thing or me kind of choosing it,' Adebo recalled Thursday, but rather just the result of their luxury. In his first four NFL seasons, Adebo logged 94.4 percent of his wide cornerback snaps on the left, according to Pro Football Focus. Even dating back to his college seasons at Stanford, Adebo — with the exception of the limited occasions when the Cardinal played a big receiver — stuck to one side, too, he said. Advertisement But the Giants, at least for now, don't have a top-flight cornerback to play alongside Adebo. When he inked a three-year, $54 million deal in free agency, Adebo instantly became their No. 1 option. He's the one who has navigated training camp without being involved in a competition. Advertisement And if the Giants end up wanting Adebo to shadow receivers, something he noticeably did at times in a matchup with Garrett Wilson during a joint practice with the Jets, he'd be open to that change. 'It was just kind of how things shook out,' Adebo said of playing on the left side in New Orleans. It would avoid allowing opponents the chance to constantly match their top wideouts against the Giants' second cornerback, which will be their weaker spot. It prevents Adebo from being stuck with the wideouts on his side of the field and instead dictates who he'll be tasked with containing. Defensive coordinator Shane Bowen's strategy might not become clear until the early weeks of the regular season — the Giants could face Terry McLaurin (in a contract standoff with the Commanders) and the Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb in Weeks 1 and 2 — but if Adebo has become the Giants' Lattimore, they don't have someone else to trust in that opposite spot like the Saints once did. 'How we deploy guys, what we decide to do, I think [Adebo's] comfortable with whatever we ask him to do,' head coach Brian Daboll said. 'I think he's got a good skill set to play the corner position, and then, again, every week we'll decide what we want to do and how we want to do it.' Adebo played in just seven games last year before breaking his femur, but he produced 43 passes defended with 10 interceptions across 52 games with the Saints. While they may only play in the regular season once every four years, their preseason game is an annual tradition, and one Giants player decided to crank up the heat with a pretty brutal assessment of the Jets' new signal caller. The Jets and Giants have been doing joint practice this week and after this morning's practice, Giants pass rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux was asked to give his "evaluation" of Fields. Thibodeaux then remarked that he couldn't give one of Fields because "Fields had to spend so much time running and scrambling away" from the Giants' pass rusher. For a pair of teams that will be lucky to avoid double-digit losses in 2025, their players and fanbases both seem to live rent free in each others' heads. Giants in 2025 It's hard to say if head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen are really on the hot seat or not. On one hand, last year's 3-14 campaign was clearly unacceptable and coaches have been fired for better records in New York. On the other hand, the owners don't seem all that eager to show them the door since they let the Giants draft a brand new quarterback in the first round with Jaxson Dart. One would think that if the Giants look average in 2025 then Daboll and Schoen will get an extension. But another year of 12 or more losses could have them both shown the exit. Jets in 2025 The Jets are going through their umpteenth rebuild so expectations aren't going to be high in 2025. If they look good, great. If they look terrible, that's to be expected. This will be the first year for both head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey. They have tabbed Fields as their starter for this year and have him under contract on what is basically a "prove-it" deal. If Fields thrives, his career will likely continue in New York. If Fields falters, the Jets will probably wind up with a high-enough draft pick to get a new quarterback in 2026. Who will win their preseason matchup? View more Video Transcript Colson Loveland going this low is stupid, and I I'm not, I'm usually not mean about the ADP, but folks, the number 10 overall pick, I had, look, and I look, let me be clear. I, I understand. The Bears' offense is the Bears' offense. We're all counting on a lot of improvement there. It might not be immediate, and this is a very crowded group. I, I said in the previous segment that Colla more like a higher snap percentage than any other tight end last year. He's still on the roster. They've got Roma Doonsay, who I think is gonna have a big breakout season. They still have DJ Moore. They draft Luther Burton. I get that it looks crowded on paper, but we're talking about late round tight ends. We're looking for ceilings here. I think Colson Loveland has a great ceiling. I, I, I have him ranked a bunch of, I haven't ranked 11th among my tight ends ahead of several of the dudes we've talked about in not just this last section, but even like I would rather take Colson Lovelin over David Njokku. Like, do I, I know who David Njoku is, and he's gonna probably get more targets, but I'm, I'm shooting for a ceiling here with my late round tight end. I think this Colson, I think Colson Loven going this low is, is kind of ridiculous. Yeah, it's, uh, you mentioned the Cole Clemet thing. I think they're, you know, Cole Clemet's going to be on the roster and he's going to play a little bit, you know, they're going to use two tight end looks, but it's, it's Colson Lovelin's show. Like, and, and I think Colson Lovelin is, it's the upside of him. I mean, dynasty wise, it's like I'm in love with him, but it's as far as just even a redraft this year, it's, I'm right there with you, especially in the tail end of the second half of the year. I know they have an earlier by, but That he's going to get that upswing. He can catch the ball, he's a yak guy, he can catch the ball in the red zone, so you can get touchdowns out of him. He's going to be a safety valve as well. And then this offense, I mean, how many times do you see that Lions offense with Ben Johnson, all those throwbacks to the tight ends. OK, all those kind of big-play, play-action plays that really take advantage of, you know, overflowing defenses. Well, those are just cheapies for the tight end as far as fancy terms. You get that one catch for 45 yards and a touchdown. Like those are part of the offense though. It's not like a, like a thing I have to really be abstract about. It's like, nope, I've seen it and I can, you know, Ben Johnson, who has tight end history, anointed this guy as his number 10 overall pick. If he thought Cole Comet was OK, he wouldn't have taken another tight end. He would have waited till day two or later. There's a reason they're taking this guy at number 10. So I think they love in Doonsday by all accounts. It seems like, you know, Cale Williams does too, but I think they love Loveland. I love Loveland. He was my number one tight end going into this draft, um, and that was some more projection down the road, but I still think he's going to impact. I mean, you, even the projected stats that just came up on the YouTube show, uh, you, his stats were near Warren. So even if that's just more of a neutral stance on this, it's like, but I think there's a lot of upside here even this year because he's just so talented and a good player. Close
