Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna's 65th birthday celebrated
VIJAYAWADA: The 65th birthday of actor and Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna was celebrated with enthusiasm across Andhra Pradesh, other States, and abroad on Tuesday.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, HRD and IT Minister Nara Lokesh, and several leaders extended greetings to the Padma Bhushan awardee.
At the TDP central office in Mangalagiri, party members cut a massive cake to mark the occasion.
At Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital in Hyderabad, Balakrishna said age no longer concerns him and pledged to keep learning and growing in his work.

Naidu slams Jagan, says harm to law and order, public safety will not be tolerated
Criticising YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president and former Chief Minister Y.S. 'They dared to describe Capital Amaravati as a city of prostitutes. How can they call Amaravati, a divine capital, as a city of prostitutes? How arrogant must one be to utter such words,' Mr. Naidu said. The Chief Minister said that he would expose the YSRCP's behaviour with proper evidence at the right time. Mr. Naidu asserted that he would not remain a silent spectator if anyone disturbs public safety and law and order. ''Until now, you have seen my goodness… from now on, I will not tolerate. If limits are crossed, I will no longer remain silent,'' he said. ''The previous YSRCP regime had destroyed the State. Now, unable to digest the development and welfare being done by the coalition government, they are conspiring across the State like demons. Even after being limited to just 11 seats by the people, they have not learnt their lesson,'' Mr. Naidu said. HRD Minister Nara Lokesh was also present.

Andhra Pradesh explains ban on import of Totapuri mango from Karnataka
The Andhra Pradesh government defended its decision to restrict the entry of Totapuri mangoes from Karnataka, and other states, citing the need to protect local farmers and avoid potential law and order to government sources, the state announced a procurement price of Rs 8 per kg for Totapuri mangoes, in a move aimed at stabilising mango prices and supporting local growers. Additionally, under a price support scheme, a Rs 4 per kg subsidy will be provided to farmers — ensuring they receive a total of Rs 12 per initiative, which comes in the wake of market concerns over excess supply and falling prices, is expected to cost the government Rs 220 crore. Andhra Pradesh has set an ambitious procurement target of 5.5 lakh tonnes this season to ensure farmers benefit directly from the scheme. However, officials have raised alarms over the inflow of Totapuri mangoes from neighbouring Karnataka, where the fruit is being sold at around Rs 5 per kg without any state-backed price support.
