To make a comeback, WWE icon and Hollywood star John Cena opened up about his hair transplant and the tough aging process over the years, from the eyes of fans and the industry. Widely known for his physique and that never-quit mentality, Cena also explained in a recent interview with People.com that he decided to get a hair transplant mainly due to the stigma attached to baldness in men and the image standards of show business.
Facing the pressure of image in Hollywood
As a wrestling megastar-turned-mainstream actor, John Cena was always conscious of his rapidly changing looks, particularly his hair, because his face has always been in front of the camera. Originally a wrestler, Cena had roles in movies tied to massive franchises such as the Fast & Furious franchise and Peacemaker, so there was an expectation to stay young and strong.
The actor said fan signs about his baldness slowly got under his skin.
While he wasn't usurping any major movie roles from studs like Matt Damon, yet, Cena said he increasingly grew insecure over his thinning hair in the eyes of Hollywood, where looks generally play a vital role in both casting and public perception.
"I think when you're in front of cameras all the time, and especially in this business, image becomes a big deal," Cena shared. 'It wasn't just about vanity — it became about confidence.'

Normalizing male grooming and breaking the stigma
John Cena's announcement comes at the peak of a trend for more male celebrities to be open about having cosmetic procedures, to normalise the stigma around male grooming, and hair loss. Cena hopes that by being open about his own journey, it will allow others dealing with the same insecurities to take control of how they look, free from shame.
During his interview, he touched on how aging mixed with the pressure of Hollywood made him seek out different hair restoration treatments.
His regimen today involves red-light therapy, minoxidil, vitamins, luxe shampoos and conditioners, and a hair transplant he got back in November.

'I saw their signs that said 'The bald John Cena,'' he says. 'They pushed me into going to see what my options were.
