Take a Trip to Bob's Void in This Exclusive ‘Thunderbolts' Clip
The Void is a terrible place, filled with everything that scares you and makes you feel shame. But, in this new clip from the upcoming home release of Thunderbolts, you'll realize it's also a place to really push the boundaries of filmmaking.
Thunderbolts, or The New Avengers if you'd like, is the latest film from Marvel Studios, for a few more weeks at least. It stars Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, and Wyatt Russell as the latest, but probably not greatest, superhero team in the MCU. They're also joined by Lewis Pullman as a character named Bob. Bob is also Sentry, quite possibly the fastest, strongest superhero there is. Unfortunately, that also comes with access to the Void, an evil holding place where Bob can pry into your deepest, darkest fears. It's the setting of the film's big finale, and in this exclusive clip from the digital release on July 1, you can see how it all came together.
That clip is just part one of the three behind-the-scenes featurettes on the digital release, which also includes two deleted scenes, a gag reel, and director's commentary. Here's the full list, as per the press release:
Not a bad little slate. Thunderbolts will be released on digital tomorrow, July 1, and 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD July 29.

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home' Adjusted One Key Scene Because of Reddit Fan Art
As Spider-Man fans look ahead to Spider-Man: Brand New Day, arriving in theaters next summer, there's still a lot of love for 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home, especially for its incorporation of previous Spider-Men Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield into Tom Holland's Marvel world. As you might expect, the multiple Spidey reveal was a scene director Jon Watts and his team spent a lot of time plotting out—even consulting an unexpected source to help shape things: Reddit. According to Collider, Watts talked more about that on a panel at Malta's Mediterrane Film Festival. Though keeping Maguire and Garfield's involvement a secret was crucial—made somewhat less difficult by the fact that they were filming during the pandemic, and the set environment was even more closed than usual—fans still had an inkling about what was in the works. 'There had been rumors that Tobey and Andrew were going to be in the movie, and this is while we're shooting,' Watts explained. 'It's another example of how you can have a script that's working, but that doesn't mean it's perfect. You can keep making it better. We were writing the script, and we were working on where we wanted to reveal the guys, and it always seemed like Peter's going to be sad because Aunt May has just died, and that the portals are going to open, and the two Spider-Men are going to step out.' He continued. 'It's probably a rooftop somewhere. It's all sort of hazy. You're still trying to figure it out.' Then came the pivotal discovery—one that helped No Way Home decide which direction not to go. 'I was on Reddit, and I was looking at people who had already made fan art of, 'This is probably what it's going to be like when the two Spider-Men get revealed,'' Watts recalled. 'It was on a rooftop. It was sad, two Doctor Strange portals were open and two Spider-Men are stepping out. I was like, 'Well, we can't do that. If that's exactly what everyone thinks we're going to do, we absolutely can't do that.'' The portals, of course, were still a necessary part of how 'Peter-Two' and 'Peter-Three' get in on the action, but the rooftop setting quickly bit the dust. We hope those Reddit fan artists see Watts' quotes and realize their great power in helping shape the movie. Want more io9 news? The Thunderbolts gag reel has been released, and it's made us love Florence Pugh even more
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Although there are still a few weeks left to wait until the next MCU project, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, hits screens, Marvel fans have been treated to some new content in the shape of the Thunderbolts* gag reel, and it's hilarious. The reel, posted on Twitter by IMDb, shows the cast of Thunderbolts breaking character on set, whether that's forgetting their lines or breaking into laughter in serious moments. The standout of the video has to be Florence Pugh, who we know to be a funny and generally lovely human being, but the clip has made us love her that much more. It looks like Pugh had a lot of fun slipping in and out of Yelena Belova's accent, as well as poking fun at David Harbour's Red Guardian Costume. Check out the full video below. Another highlight has to be star Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who plays O.X.E. Chairwoman Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. The actor seemed to improvise some of her lines and had fun with Fontaine's elite status. However, a particularly humorous running theme in the gag reel is the cast's struggles with wires. From Pugh being pulled up too high to Harbour sent flying across the room after Sentry star Lewis Pullman missed his line, it seems like the Thunderbolts cast had a hell of a time being pulled to and fro. Fans are loving the behind-the-scenes look, with one replying to the video, "Even bts they give family vibe…love this movie," and another added, "I want to be on their gang, they look like they are having a great time. Just goofing around." However, another fan has noticed that one particular scene from the gag reel was actually in the Thunderbolts trailer, but was seemingly cut out of the movie. "So the scene of Bucky laughing in the truck that was in the trailer was a bts?" pointed out the fan. It looks like that Buckey Barnes blunder was just too good not to use. Thunderbolts gatherers some of the MCU's biggest misfits, creating a team of anti-heroes set to protect the world after the loss of The Avengers. From there, Yelena Belova (Pugh), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Red Guardian (Harbour), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), and John Walker (Wyatt Russell), now known as The New Avengers, embark on a dangerous mission that forces them to confront the darkest corners of their pasts. Thunderbolts is out on digital on July 1. For more, check out our guide on how to watch the Marvel movies in order, and keep up with upcoming Marvel movies on the way.

Natalie Portman's son ambushes her into surprise video call with streaming star Marlon LuGa: 'That's my mom'
Anything can happen on the streets of Paris — even surprise video calls with Natalie Portman! YouTuber Marlon LuGa learned that specific, serendipitous lesson over the weekend when a chance encounter with a fan led to meeting the Star Wars alum, 44, via FaceTime. In a video shared to the streamer's Instagram page, LuGa was live-streaming a day of soccer for fans on Sunday when he was approached by Portman's son, Aleph, while getting ready on the field. The 13-year-old introduced himself by referencing his famous mom, asking LuGa if he knew Portman. When the streamer said he didn't recognize the name, Aleph referred to Portman's beloved role as Luke Skywalker's mother, Padmé Amidala, in all three of the Star Wars prequel movies. "You know Star Wars? Padmé Amidala?" he asked, before delivering the surprising line, "Well, that's my mom. Can you give a shoutout to my mom?" LuGa was understandably shocked, even as Alpeh showed the streamer family pics on his phone to verify the family connection "That's your mom?!" Luga asked, to which the teen calmly confirmed, "Yeah, that's my mom." Wasting no time, LuGa jumped on the unique opportunity, agreeing to a FaceTime call. When Portman appeared on the screen, Aleph introduced the streamer, asking her, "Do you want to say hi to Marlon?" he asked. LuGa quickly acknowledged the Hollywood star, apologizing for the impromptu call. "Hi, I'm sorry for disturbing you, I just want to say hi real quick," he told a laughing Portman. "I'm here with your son. We're about to play a little football." But Portman was clearly amused by the situation as she graciously wished LuGa well before ending the call. "Nice to meet you. I hope you're having a great day. Have a good one," she told the streamer, before the call concluded. LuGa was visibly overwhelmed by the moment — candidly revealing that Portman's Padmé was his "biggest crush" when he was younger — and fans were equally surprised by the brief peek into Portman's otherwise private family life. "Very beautiful woman, very good son," LuGa told his livestream viewers. "I just want to respectfully say that. That's insane." "He looks just like her too! Imagine saying 'Padme Amidala is my mom,'" one user commented, while another wrote, "That's my mom 🩷🌷 biggest flex, he's so proud." Aleph is the son of Portman and her ex-husband, Benjamin Millepied. The two also share daughter Amalia. Portman, and Millepied, 48, first met while working together on the set of Darren Aronofsky's 2010 hit Black Swan, which went on to win Portman an Oscar for Best Actress. They married Aug. 4, 2012 and called it quits in March 2024, after 11 years of marriage. It's not the first time Portman and her son sparked headlines — albeit, the last time it was her onscreen son, Mark Hamill. Hamill and Portman turned the 2024 Golden Globes into a family reunion when they had an impromptu run-in backstage. Both Hamill and Portman have frequently joked about how they'd never actually met in person, despite their family ties. (Padmé, of course, died well before the events of the original Star Wars, dying while giving birth to twins Luke and Leia in 2005's Revenge of the Sith.)Stephen Colbert even confronted Portman about never meeting Hamill when the actress appeared on his show in 2018. "It's such a shame!" Portman said at the time. "I would love to meet him. Mark, I would love to meet you. Come over!" A day after the ceremony, Hamill took to social media to share the photo he took with Portman at the 81st annual awards show. "Now I have finally met my 'mother,' thanks to the @goldenglobes," Hamill wrote. "When I saw that Natalie Portman was my mother, I thought holy moly," Hamill previously joked. "A woman that beautiful has a kid that looks like this? I'm not buying it. I should look way more handsome." Looks like the Force (and luck) are with both Portman's sons!
