
Saudi Defense Min. Discusses Yemen Developments with Newly-appointed PM
The Saudi Defense Minister, Prince Khalid bin Salman, met with the newly-appointed Prime Minister of Yemen, Salem Saleh Bin Braik, in Riyadh, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
During their meeting, Prince Khalid conveyed the Saudi leadership's congratulations to Bin Braik on the occasion of his appointment as the new Yemeni Prime Minister, as well as their best wishes for his success and for the security, stability and prosperity of the brotherly people of Yemen.
Both officials reviewed the relations between Saudi Arabia and Yemen and explored ways to further strengthen them. They also discussed the latest developments in Yemen and the region, in addition to efforts made in that regard.
In the light of this, the Saudi Defense Minister stressed the Kingdom's continued support for the government of Yemen in ways that will meet the economic and developmental aspirations of the Yemeni people.
On Saturday, the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), Yemen's internationally recognized government, appointed Salem Saleh bin Buraik as the country's new Prime Minister after the resignation of Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, the council said in a statement.
Bin Braik previously served as Finance Minister in the former cabinet, according to Reuters.
