Data Centre Graft: MACC To Call Up 20 More Witnesses
MACC Investigation Division senior director Datuk Zainul Darus said that, so far, they have recorded statements from 12 individuals in connection with the investigation.
He said that the three suspects - the project manager of a construction company and two company directors - arrested by MACC are still under remand, while a woman suspect was released on Sunday (July 20) after her remand order ended.
"So far, there have been no new arrests in this case,' he replied briefly when contacted today.
The media previously reported that a project manager of a prominent construction company who was detained for investigation into a corruption case involving the procurement of a data centre construction project tender was willing to burn almost RM1 million in cash to destroy evidence after being shocked by the MACC raid through Op Ways on Thursday (July 17).
According to sources, during the raid conducted at his home in Petaling Jaya, a team of officers found RM100 banknotes totalling almost RM1 million in flames.
As a result of a thorough inspection of the home, the MACC also found cash totalling approximately RM7.5 million stored in several pillow boxes, three Rolex, Omega and Cartier watches, as well as jewellery such as rings and gold coins.
On Friday (July 18), the media reported that a contract manager, his wife and two men in their 40s to 60s were arrested by the MACC Investigation Division around the Klang Valley, believed to be involved in corruption involving the procurement of a data centre construction project tender in Johor worth approximately RM180 million.

Felda manager claims trial to eight counts of falsifying documents
IPOH: A Felda planning manager is facing eight counts of falsifying documents related to delivery orders and contract payment certificates amounting to about RM18,000. Hendra Mohamad Nazri, 45, pleaded not guilty after the charges under Section 471 of the Penal Code were read to him before Sessions judge Ainul Shahrin Mohamad on Tuesday (Aug 5). For the first and second charges, Hendra is said to have committed the offence on Dec 23, 2019, at Maybank in Jalan Ahmad Boestaman, Slim River (Batang Padang district), by dishonestly using false delivery order receipts from Minitech Bidor Quarry Sdn Bhd as supporting documents for two stone delivery projects, each worth RM5,000. For the third charge, he is accused of instructing Khairul Afendi Mohd Nordin, 37, the land scheme supervisor at Felda Gunung Besout 04, between October and November 2020, to prepare a false document for contract work involving caterpillar extermination across two plots totalling over 15ha, valued at RM1,149.12. For the fourth charge, he allegedly instructed Khairul Afendi to prepare a false document for road repairs along a 1,000m stretch at Lot Felda, also at Felda Gunung Besout 04, valued at RM2,200. For the fifth charge, he is accused of preparing a false document in the form of a payment certificate for repair works on staff quarters at Felda Gunung Besout 04, valued at RM5,000. For the sixth charge, between July and August 2020, he allegedly prepared and instructed the preparation of false documents for contract work related to the repairs of staff quarters, valued at RM5,000. Man denies armed robbery at Melaka convenience store
MELAKA: A man pleaded not guilty at the Ayer Keroh Sessions Court here today to a charge of committing armed robbery at a convenience store here last month. Amirul Hamry Hambalyi Azahari, 27, was charged with robbing the convenience store of RM202.80 in cash, three boxes of branded cigarettes and a price scanner when armed with a butcher knife. The offence was allegedly committed at the 7-Eleven premises at Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho 2, Central Melaka, at about 3 am on July 29. The charge, framed under Section 392 of the Penal Code and read together with Section 397 of the same law, provides imprisonment of up to 20 years and whipping if found guilty. Judge Haderiah Siri allowed Amirul Hamry Hambalyi bail of RM9,000 and also ordered him to report to a nearby police station every two weeks, as well as surrender his passport to the court. She set Sept 2 for mention for the submission of documents and the appointment of a lawyer.
