Virgin Island followed the journey of a dozen young people as they learnt the art of intimacy on a Croatian beach. Working with the therapists and a team of 'surrogate partners' and 'sexological bodyworkers' the aim was to help them overcome their fears and insecurities when it comes to intimacy and sex. But the showraised eyebrows, with controversial scenes including one where Danielle snogged one of the participants, delivery driver Zac. READ MORE TV NEWS PARTY QUEEN Reality TV legend Gemma Collins voted celeb Brits most want to party with It proved to be a big hit with viewers, though, and became Channel 4's most streamed new format since 2023 — especially with that important 16-34 age group. For that younger age group, it was the biggest launch for six years since Michael Jackson factual piece, Leaving Neverland. A source said: 'Virgin Island had a big buzz about it as something which really pushed the boundaries. 'In a market filled with somewhat predictable dating shows, it broke the mould and still had that Channel 4 experimental heart to it. So everyone was thrilled when the ratings seemed to back the broadcaster's punt. 'It felt like a no-brainer to consider a second series.' The more important news, though, is the programme managed to fulfil its central aim and helped a few of the not-so-dirty dozen to shed their V plates. Brits show off divisive fence glow-ups after glamming up gardens with lockdown throwback trend – that costs less than £8
Plus, eight garden features that add the most value to a house ON THE FENCE Brits show off divisive fence glow-ups after glamming up gardens with lockdown throwback trend – that costs less than £8 Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) IT'S the garden trend that left Brits totally divided in 2020 when Covid-19 hit. And now the divisive shower curtain mania is back, with many thrifty homeowners proudly showing off their fence makeovers on the cheap. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 3 The trend was all the rage five years ago - and now it's back Credit: facebook/extreme couponing and bargains uk 3 With summer in full swing, hundreds of Brits have been decorating their fences with shower curtains Credit: facebook/extreme couponing and bargains uk 3 Whether you're after something more floral or tropical, the options are endless Credit: facebook/extreme couponing and bargains uk The viral trend sees hundreds of Brits putting up shower curtains outside to cover fences or grotty walls, fences and even old doors. While this is indeed a wallet-friendly option for a quick and easy transformation, it's sparked a fierce debate online - with critics dubbing the look ''terrible''. But despite the backlash, it looks like plastic shower curtains are here for yet another season - whether some like it or not. One place where the garden trend has returned is the popular Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group, with dozens of Brits proudly showing off their outdoor glow-ups. One person, Remi Mason, said their mum had attached eBay shower curtains to her fence - which now featured a faux waterfall effect. Although the photos were allegedly submitted to the group in lockdown, it wasn't until recently the post was approved - and heaps of others revealed they'd jumped on the trend too. A fellow member, Lynnsey Wilson, uploaded a snap of her upgraded garage - that was now hiding behind a cottage-feel curtain. ''I've done this,'' said Tania Denning, who had attached a shower curtain featuring the Buddha in front of a gorgeous flower display. Meanwhile, Debbie Joynt opted for a more tropical design to cover the unsightly garage. If you too are keen to spruce up your garden this season on the cheap, the options for affordable shower curtains are endless - and there are heaps of prints to choose from. I hate my new build garden being overlooked so found a 5 METRE privacy fence to block out nosy neighbours for under £30 While some Facebook users found budget-friendly versions from Shein for less than £8, the China-based marketplace offers even cheaper ones - for as little as £2. Rival Temu also has a mega variety of shower curtains for a garden overhaul - some cheap picks include a rainforest-themed curtain for just £6 or even a hidden oasis one for £7. When it comes to fixing the material to your fence, DIY-loving Brits are using a staple gun - and it takes just seconds. Garden features that add the most value to a house A well-kept garden can add anywhere between 5-20% to the value of a property. carried out a study and consulted 36 estate agents, garden designers and property professionals from across the UK. And the experts revealed the garden feature which adds the most value to a property is a shed. Shed - 82% Patio or paving - 76% Secure fencing, walls or gates - 72% Outdoor lighting - 66% Sturdy decking - 62% Water features eg. fountain or pond - 58% Modern garden furniture - 54% Artificial lawn/grass - 40% Seeing the epic fence makeovers others shared, one person said: ''I thought it was painted, great idea.'' Someone else commented under the post: ''I saw people do this near me. They look like they're at the beach. Quite effective.'' However, not everyone will be jumping on this trend, as a critic thought: ''These will probably rip down in heavy wind.'' Another chimed in: ''I got them from Amazon but they just blew everywhere in the wind.'' Unlock even more award-winning articles as The Sun launches brand new membership programme - Sun Club

In this Wednesday's Mirror Daily Digest, we've pulled together the biggest stories of the day from Meghan Markle's birthday tribute to Lilibet, to the new Covid strain in the UK Welcome to the Mirror's Daily Digest, where we pull together all the best stories of the day from our News, Showbiz, Sport teams and more. This Wednesday, we're taking a look at news of a ferocious and potentially vaccine-resistant new Covid variant hitting the UK, to weather maps warning of a huge downpour on the way. Ferocious new Covid variant hits UK - and vaccine could be powerless against it This afternoon, our Heath team reported that a new variant of the COVID virus has been identified in the UK for the first time. The Public Health Agency reports that at least seven cases of the NB.1.8.1 coronavirus strain have been confirmed in Northern Ireland. NB.1.8.1 has been officially designated a "variant under monitoring" by the World Health Organisation (WHO) due to its rapid rise and the potential to evade immunity from previous infections or vaccines. NB.1.8.1 already the dominant strain in Hong Kong and China, and has been detected in Australia, the US and across popular holiday destinations including Egypt, Thailand and the Maldives. Meghan Markle cradles Princess Lilibet in new photo to mark fourth birthday Our Royal team reported this morning that Meghan Markle marked the fourth birthday of her daughter Princess Lilibet's birthday with a sweet tribute and some new black and white family photos of the Sussex clan. One showed Meghan holding Lilibet close during a recent boat trip, and another from when the princess was just a baby snuggled close to her mum. Meghan wrote the caption: "Happy birthday to our beautiful girl! Four years ago today she came into our lives - and each day is brighter and better because of it. Thanks to all of those sending love and celebrating her special day!" The duchess usually only shares photos of her daughter pictured from behind to protect her privacy, but in the more recent photo, Lili's eyes and the top half of her face could be seen, with her nose and mouth and the rest of her face covered by Meghan's arms as she hugged the princess. UK weather maps show date England will 'disappear' under 400-mile wall of rain Early this morning, our UK news team shared a weather warning that Brits are set to be battered with heavy showers with a map showing a 400 mile wall of rain moving in on Saturday. More low pressure systems are sweeping in and it is looking particularly wet at the end of the week across the country. Many parts of the UK already have felt the unusually blustery conditions this week after a long spell through May where high pressure dominated and we enjoyed blue skies and plenty of sunshine. It means families planning for outdoor activities with many children on half-term will be disappointed but at least gardens will get much needed rainfall. Maps from WXCharts show huge downpours covering England especially on Saturday morning while elsewhere there are also showers mixed in with sunshine. Jessie J breast cancer battle as singer, 37, announces surgery plans after festival show Our Showbiz team broke the sad news earlier today that singer Jessie J has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Singer Jessie J revealed she's been diagnosed with "early breast cancer" and plans to undergo surgery after her performance at this month's Summertime Ball. The 37 year old Price Tag singer shared in an Instagram video that she's spent a lot of her recent time "in and out of tests". "I was diagnosed with early breast cancer," mum-of-one Jessie disclosed as she spoke directly to her fans in the video. "Cancer sucks in any form, but I'm holding on to the word 'early'. "It's a very dramatic way to get a boob job. I am going to disappear for a bit after Summertime Ball to have my surgery, and I will come back with massive tits and more music."
