Jason Fitz with Yahoo Sports hanging out with Ohio State superstar Jeremiah Smith joining us.
On behalf of Red Bull.
We'll get to Red Bull.
We got questions about how you get your wings, but first, we got to talk about some football.
Uh, the difference today, cause you've taken the college football world by storm.
All of us covering it watch you every day.
We scream about the highlights.
How different do you feel today going into this season than you did last year?
Uh, I feel pretty good about going into this season, um, you know, coming in as a freshman, you know, everything coming fast at you.
Um, but this year, um, I feel like everything is slowed down for me and I'll be able to, you know, play faster and better than what I did last year, I should say.
New offensive coordinator, new quarterback, how much difference does that make to your day in, day out?
Uh, nothing different, uh, you know, we got, you know, recruited two good quarterbacks, uh, you know, Coach Harlan became the OC, so I think we're in a pretty good space right now.
Pressure last year also fell on the shoulders of Ryan Day.
Felt like everybody with the microphone had a big opinion on Ryan Day's got to win an Adie, right?
Like, have you seen just a difference in the overall vibe from your head coach now that he has that title?
Uh, I mean, a little bit, uh, nothing too crazy, but you know everything he done, you know, calmed down a little bit, not too tense, um.
But yeah, nothing too crazy, nothing changed really.
I mean, he did it.
I felt a little bit.
You guys will step on the field week one against Texas.
So no preseason, no opportunity to work out the kinks.
How does that feel for you going in right away to a matchup?
Everybody's going to be obsessed with?
Yeah, I mean, we gotta be ready.
I mean we got Kemp coming up and, you know, 34 days.
Uh, we just got to be ready.
We gotta have a better camp than Texas have.
Uh, that's really all that come down to whoever work have a better camp and whoever's ready and Come prepared.
Y'all hear all the attention that Archer's getting?
Yeah, we hear all of it, we're all of it.
That's all you gotta say.
Like you, you hear it.
So you're joining us on behalf of Red Bull.
This is always interesting to me because I worked for a long time with Harry Douglas who played in the NFL, and I found out the weirdest thing about Harry Douglas.
I love him like a brother, but my guy always drank Sprite during football games.
Like during the football game, they replaced.
his drinks with Sprite.
He drinks more Sprite than anybody I've ever met.
So I'm just wondering, like, like, obviously Red Bull's giving you your wings, but are you sneaking any during the game?
Like, what's, what's the Red Bull routine like?
Yeah, I got to sneaking in a game or when it got to.
Is there a favorite flavor?
I like all of them, so nothing too crazy.
I like them all.
Look at that right down the middle, like down the middle.

Mikal Bridges agrees to 4-year, $150 million extension with New York Knicks

The New York Knicks forward Mikal Bridges has agreed to a four-year, $150 million extension, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Thursday. SNY initially reported that the 28-year-old was eligible for a maximum four-year, $156 million extension. But, per Charania, Bridges took a slight discount to help New York's roster-building efforts. The Knicks had a window from July 6 to June 30, 2026, before Bridges was set to enter free agency, to secure a new contract with him. Bridges initially found his way to New York across the East River when he landed in Brooklyn from Phoenix in exchange for Kevin Durant. He spent five seasons with the Suns before getting traded to the borough south of Manhattan. The former Villanova Wildcat averaged 26.1 points per game in 27 games for the Nets upon his arrival and 19.6 points per game after starting in all 82 games the following season. Bridges was traded to the Knicks last offseason for Bojan Bogdanović, five first-round draft picks, and a second-rounder. The move reunited Bridges with his former college teammates, Josh Hart and Jalen Brunson. In his first season in blue and orange, Bridges proved to be a dynamic role player for the Knicks, averaging 17.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. His defense also shined in the Knicks' playoff run before they eventually fell to the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference finals. Bridges averaged 15.6 points, 4.5 boards, 0.9 blocks and 1.7 steals per game in this year's postseason. Bridges' extension comes after the Knicks hired Mike Brown to replace Tom Thibodeau as their head coach. The team has also added reinforcements in free agency by signing Guerschon Yabusele and Jordan Clarkson.

MLB trade deadline: Rangers acquire pitcher Merrill Kelly from Diamondbacks, who continue sell-off

The Arizona Diamondbacks' sell-off continues with starting pitcher Merrill Kelly being traded to the Texas Rangers, ESPN's Jeff Passan reports. Kelly, who turns 37 on Oct. 14, provides another reliable arm to add to the Rangers' veteran starting rotation, joining Jacob deGrom, Patrick Corbin and Nathan Eovaldi. He's been the D-backs' most consistent starter this season, compiling a 3.22 ERA over 22 starts with 121 strikeouts in 128 2/3 innings. The Rangers' starting pitchers have the best ERA in MLB at 3.16, led by deGrom (10-3, 2.55 ERA) throwing like the ace who won NL Rookie of the Year and two Cy Young Awards with the New York Mets. Corbin (3.78 ERA) has experienced a career resurgence after struggling for the past five seasons with the Washington Nationals. And Eovaldi (9-3, 1.49 ERA) has been one of the best starters in baseball during the past six seasons. Texas (57-52) is a postseason contender, tied with the Seattle Mariners for second place in the AL West, five games behind the Houston Astros. The Rangers and Mariners are also tied for the AL's third wild-card playoff berth, 2.5 games ahead of the Cleveland Guardians and three ahead of the Kansas City Royals and Tampa Bay Rays. Kelly was a late bloomer as an MLB pitcher, an eighth-round pick by the Tampa Bay Rays in 2010 after being drafted in each of the previous two years by the Baltimore Orioles and Cleveland Guardians, respectively, but not signing. He played nine years in the minors before making his major-league debut with the D-backs in 2019. During his seven-year MLB career, Kelly has a 3.74 ERA and 62-50 record, averaging 8.2 strikeouts and 2.7 walks per nine innings. He's two seasons removed from his best year, when he registered a 3.29 ERA and 12-8 record in 30 starts, adding 187 strikeouts in 177 2/3 innings. Kelly is the fourth regular to be dealt away by Arizona leading up to the MLB trade deadline. First baseman Josh Naylor began the D-backs' trade season by going to the Seattle Mariners. That was followed by outfielder Randal Grichuk being traded to the Kansas City Royals and third baseman Eugenio Suárez also going to Seattle in a separate deal.

Brent Musburger will join NBC's Hall of Fame Game broadcast

In a few hours, you will be looking live at the first game of the 2025 preseason, and a familiar face to football fans will be on your screen. The Pro Football Hall of Fame Game kicks off at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock, and Brent Musburger will be part of the broadcast, first with an interview on Football Night in America at 7 p.m., and then in the booth with Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth during the second half of the game. Musburger, in Canton to be honored with the Hall of Fame's Pete Rozelle Radio Television Award, will speak with Maria Taylor in pregame about the honor, and then will take a seat in the broadcast booth, as he has so many times in his career, later in the night. To many football fans, Musburger is best remembered for hosting The NFL Today on CBS from 1975 through 1989. In those days, when it wasn't easy to find up-to-the-minute sports news, hearing Musburger's voice booming, "You are looking live" served as the official announcement that NFL kickoff was approaching, and viewers were in the only place to learn the late-breaking news that would affect Sunday's games. Musburger has also called hundreds of football games, both NFL and college, in the broadcast booth, and tonight he'll step into the booth one more time.
