Liverpool offer Alexander Isak ultimatum to Newcastle

Newcastle kicked off their Premier League season on Saturday with a 0-0 draw against Aston Villa. The Magpies' lack of a centre forward was sorely exposed - with Liverpool target Alexander Isak in exile. 🔴 Shop the LFC 2025/26 adidas home range 🚨2025/26 LFC x adidas range🚨 LFC x adidas Shop the home range today! Anthony Gordon played up front instead of the 25-year-old Swede - but he and his teammates could not prevent the Geordies from drawing a blank. The atmosphere turned toxic in the aftermath - with Newcastle fans making their feelings known over Isak's conduct as he seeks a move to Anfield. Isak to Liverpool in the next seven days It's hard to see a way back for the forward - and the sooner he's allowed to complete his move to Liverpool the better. Newcastle will need to sign a new striker in his place - with Goncalo Ramos the latest name in the frame. This situation is currently helping nobody and the signs are that the saga is heading for a speedy conclusion. That's according to a new report from Sacha Tavolieri - who claims Liverpool have given Newcastle a one-week timeframe in which to agree a deal. Liverpool won't wait forever 'Liverpool FC won't wait forever for Alexander Isak,' he wrote on X. 'Despite mutual interest and the Swedish being the top priority, the Reds have set a deadline. 'If no agreement is reached with Newcastle by next week, the door will be wide open for… other targets.' No way back for Isak The North East side are looking for around £150m for their star attraction - but the Reds' sporting director Richard Hughes is said to be hopeful of completing a deal for around £135m. There is little chance of Isak resuming his Newcastle career under the current circumstances - and by this time next week we could see Liverpool end up with their new No9. Tavolieri's suggestion that the Reds are prepared to move for a different striker is intriguing. Having seen the likes of Joao Pedro, Benjamin Sesko, Victor Osimhen and Jonathan David move elsewhere this summer there a relatively few other names in the frame. Maybe it could be Bradley Barcola - or else Hughes and head coach Arne Slot have a different name in mind.

Brentford analysis: Andrews faces testing times in rebuild

It has been a summer of change for Brentford, most notably in Thomas Frank and assistant Justin Cochrane being poached by London rivals Tottenham Hotspur. Keith Andrews was promoted to the top job, but has had to deal with the loss of key players Bryan Mbeumo, Christian Norgaard and Mark Flekken - all sold in this transfer window. Forward Yoane Wissa could soon be on his way too, with the Newcastle target left out of the Bees squad for the City Ground trip. Andrews' first starting XI included debuts for keeper Caoimhin Kelleher, £17m Dutch attacking midfielder Antoni Milambo and right-back Michael Kayode, while Jordan Henderson made his Premier League return as a second-half substitute. Former Republic of Ireland international Andrews has had to rebuild as he tries to maintain Brentford's impressive record of never having been in the relegation zone across the last four seasons. That is a record they still maintain for now, but they are only out of the bottom three on goal difference. All of Andrews' best-laid plans went out the window after the first meaningful attack of the match. First, the corner was needless - captain Nathan Collins stepped in front of Kelleher and turned the ball behind, when the keeper was about to collect the ball under no pressure. Boss Andrews, the club's former set-piece coach, could then only look on in dismay as three blue-shirted players around Chris Wood got in each others' way from the corner, allowing the New Zealander to turn home a loose ball for the opening goal. Brentford had little in response after that.

Liverpool to submit new offer for star 'very keen' to join

Time is running out in the transfer window and Liverpool are still in the race to complete multiple deals. It's been a long summer, and the next two weeks are going to be even crazier than anything that has happened in the lead up to this. 🚨2025/26 LFC x adidas range🚨 LFC x adidas Shop the away range TODAY LFC x adidas Shop the home range today! LFC x adidas Shop the goalkeeper range today LFC x adidas Shop the new adidas range today! Liverpool are far from being done in the transfer market. Richard Hughes wanted to rebuild Arne Slot's side this summer and the final pieces in the jigsaw are still yet to be secured. The first of those jigsaw pieces is Alexander Isak. He's been Liverpool's dream target for a long time and next week we should find a resolution to the saga that has been going on for the longest time. Liverpool may add another winger to the equation as well. Although it remains to be seen whether with such little time left they can find the right target. But the other key piece of the puzzle is Marc Guehi. 🔴 Like Isak, the Crystal Palace captain has long been on Liverpool's radar. In fact, the Reds have wanted to sign him since the beginning of the summer. Guehi has one year left on his contract and it's clear that he doesn't want to extend. He wants to leave the club. Whether it's in the next two weeks or next summer, the end result will be the same. So, it's in Palace's interest to make sure that he goes this summer. At least this way they won't lose him for nothing but they can actually get compensated for making Guehi into the player he is today. Liverpool have been working on a deal to do exactly that. They haven't yet succeeded but it looks like they are going to make another push for the Crystal Palace star.
