Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne Biopic Still Moving Forward as Sony Is in Negotiations With Director
'They're currently in negotiations with a director, which could be confirmed very soon,' the Universal Music Group company shared. Lee Hall is still attached to complete the screenplay. Osbourne Media will develop the film alongside Polygram Entertainment and Sony.

'@SonyPictures and Polygram Entertainment are developing a biopic chronicling the extraordinary life of rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, and the great love story between him and his wife, Sharon,' parties attached to the film shared in 2021. Ozzy shared the post on Twitter nearly four years ago alongside a photo of himself with Sharon.
At the time, Sharon shared, 'Our relationship at times was often wild, insane and dangerous but it was our undying love that kept us together. We're thrilled to partner with Sony Pictures and Polygram to bring our story to the screen.' She will produce the film along with their children Jack and Aimee Osbourne, as well as Polygram's Michele Anthony and David Blackman and Sony's Andrea Giannetti.
During an episode of The Osbournes Podcast in 2024, Ozzy shared a blunt update on the progression of the film. 'By the time they finish this film, I'll be dead,' he said. 'I wanna be alive to fucking see it.' Sharon added, 'Movies take forever to make.' The musician died on July 22 at the age of 76.
Jack noted that the film is expected to span their relationship between 1979 and 1999. The family debated which actors should play the leading roles, with Sharon expressing interest in Florence Pugh and Kelly noting that her father should be played by 'an unknown actor who is very good,' adding, 'I don't think there's anyone you could think of now who would be able to do it.' Jack pitched Bill Hader for the role, but received a swift 'Fuck off' from Ozzy in response.
No Escape From Now, an upcoming documentary about Ozzy's health setbacks in recent years and his desire to stage a farewell concert, will also still arrive later this year.

A week after heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne was laid to rest, the singer's son Jack Osbourne has shared the grief, heartache and beautiful memories he'll keep of his famous father in a touching Instagram post. 'I haven't really wanted to post anything since the passing of my father. My heart has hurt too much. I'm gonna keep this short because he certainly hated long rambling speeches,' wrote Jack, 39, one of three children Ozzy shared with wife/manager Sharon Osbourne. 'He was so many things to so many people, but I was so lucky and blessed to be apart of a very small group that got to call him 'Dad.'' The images were cued to Ozzy's sentimental Beatles-esque ballad 'So Tired' from 1983's Bark at the Moon solo album. 'Time has come to say goodbye/ I know it's gonna make you cry/ But you belong to another, my love/And half a love that just ain't enough/ I am so tired (so tired)/ And I just can't wait around for you,' Ozzy sings over weepy strings on the tune. Osbourne died at 76 on July 22 from cardiac arrest and coronary artery disease that contribute to a heart attack. 'My heart is full of so much sadness and sorrow, but also so much love and gratitude. I got 14,501 days with that man and I know that is such a blessing,' Jack wrote before offering up a famous quote from late gonzo writer and hell-raiser Hunter S. Thompson from his book The Proud Highway: The Saga of a Desperate Southern Gentleman, 1955-1967 about living big and leaving behind a well-worn corpse: 'Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body… but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, 'Wow! Ozzy Osbourne Funeral Procession Will March Through the Streets of Birmingham
Ozzy Osbourne will be honored with a funeral procession, complete with a brass band, that will march through his hometown of Birmingham, England, on Wednesday. The procession will start at 1 p.m. local time, the Birmingham City Council said, with a hearse carrying Osbourne's body through the streets of the city. The procession will end, fittingly, at the Black Sabbath bridge and bench, which has become a memorial site for Osbourne in the week since his death. Birmingham's honorary lord mayor, Zafar Iqbal, issued a statement calling Osbourne 'more than a music legend — he was a son of Birmingham,' and adding: '[I]t was important to the city that we support a fitting, dignified tribute ahead of a private family funeral. We know how much this moment will mean to his fans. We're proud to host it here with his loving family in the place where it all began, and we are grateful that they have generously offered to pay to enable this to happen and support the city is giving him the farewell he deserves.' Osbourne died July 22 at the age of 76, just weeks after his all-star farewell concert in Birmingham. The concert featured performances from an array of metal greats, including Metallica and Guns N' Roses, while Osbourne also performed for the last time as both a solo artist and with the original members of Black Sabbath.
