Yahoo12-07-2025
ST. LOUIS (AP) — Sean Murphy hit the two longest home runs at Busch Stadium this season and the Atlanta Braves held on to beat the St. Louis Cardinals 6-5 on Friday night.
Murphy hit a 437-foot, two-run shot out to left-center field on an 0-2 pitch from Matthew Liberatore for a 3-0 lead in the first. Murphy fouled off seven pitches in a 13-pitch at-bat before hitting a 440-foot solo shot to center for a 5-2 advantage in the third. Murphy and Ronald Acuña Jr. both had three of the Braves' 12 hits.

Enyel De Los Santos (3-2) got the win with two perfect innings following starter Grant Holmes, who allowed five runs and nine hits in three innings. Raisel Iglesias pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his 10th save in 14 opportunities — and first since June 24 against the Mets.
Acuña hit the third pitch from Liberatore for a double and scored on Austin Riley's one-out single for the Braves' first run. Michael Harris II doubled and scored on Acuña's single for a 4-2 lead in the second. Jurickson Profar doubled following Murphy's second homer and scored on a single by Drake Baldwin for a 6-2 advantage.
Brendan Donovan singled leading off the Cardinals' first against Grant Holmes. Alec Burleson had a one-out double to drive in the Cardinals' first run for a second straight day. Willson Contreras' RBI single cut it to 3-2.
Pedro Pagés had a two-out bases-loaded single in the third to drive in two and Victor Scott II followed with an RBI single to get the Cardinals to 6-5.

Marcus Morris arrest: Brother Markieff confirms situation, agent claims issue stems from unpaid casino debt

NBA veteran Marcus Morris was arrested Sunday on a fraud charge, Broward County booking records confirmed. Morris, 35, was apparently arrested at an airport due to "insufficient funds check," per the arrest information. While Morris has not commented on the situation, his brother, Markieff, confirmed the arrest, but claimed the fraud charge was "crazy." "The wording is crazy," Markieff said. "Damn for that amount of money they'll embarrass you in the airport with your family. They got y'all really thinking bro did some fraud s***. They could have came to the crib for all that. When y'all hear the real story on this s*** man. All I can say is Lesson learned. Bro will tell y'all tomorrow. This weird shit gave me a headache. Can't stop nothin!" Morris' agent, Yony Noy issued a response to Markieff's tweet. Noy attempted to clarify the situation, saying Marcus' arrest has nothing to do with a fake check. Noy claimed Morris was arrested over an unpaid credit with a casino. Noy called the arrest "absolutely insanity." Noy's full statement read: "Just so everyone understands this is zero fraud here or whatever crap outlets have said regarding fake checks or whatever the hell. This is due to an outstanding marker with a casino. Apparently if you have over $1,200 they can issue a warrant for your arrest. Absolute insanity!" Morris, a 13-year NBA veteran, saw time with a number of teams during his playing career. He spent four of his 13 seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers and three with the Phoenix Suns. He also saw time with six other franchises as a player. His final season in the NBA came in 2023-24, when he saw time with the Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers. Morris appeared as a guest NBA analyst on ESPN during the offseason.

Messi and his wife had a MUCH better time on infamous Coldplay 'kiss cam'

These days, getting caught on the Coldplay concert kiss cam isn't necessarily the best thing (that is, if you're allegedly hiding something). But when you're Lionel Messi, the world's best soccer player, and you're with your wife, it's not bad! In fact, you might get sung to by the band's Chris Martin! That's what happened on Sunday, with Messi and wife Antonela appearing on the kiss cam and getting these words from Martin: "Well Leo, my beautiful brother, you and your wife are looking so fine. Thanks for coming today, to see our band play. The number one sports person of all time!" It was all smiles and waves from Messi and Antonela. Everyone loved it. Suffice it to say, they had a MUCH better time than others have had on the Coldplay kiss cam. This comes days after Martin's ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow appeared in a hilarious video for Astronomer that winked at the other viral moment that made headlines. Kenny McIntosh injury places pressure on Seahawks rookie RB

The first casualty of training camp arrived for the Seattle Seahawks. Running back Kenny McIntosh suffered a season-ending torn ACL injury during Saturday's practice. Hopefully it's the first and last major injury for the Seahawks at camp. McIntosh will soon undergo season-ending surgery. He won't make the Seahawks' 53-man roster as a result. With the RB3 spot now wide open behind Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet, rookie running back Damien Martinez will feel pressure to fill that role. McIntosh was upgraded to second-string back when Walker missed time with injury last campaign. A seventh-round selection in 2023, McIntosh had seven carries in three separate contests last season. That responsibility could belong to Martinez in 2025. McIntosh was also a core special teamer in 2024. The former Georgia standout played 173 snaps on special teams, eighth-most on the team. If Martinez wants to be active weekly, he'll have to prove capable of filling that void on special teams. Sophomore running back George Holani and rookie undrafted free agent Jacardia Wright are also on the roster. Neither ball-carrier is expected to make the 53-man roster, though their pathway just got a little clearer with McIntosh's injury. The Seahawks drafted Martinez with a future role in mind, but McIntosh's injury just accelerated the timeline.
