Food truck that appeared on Shark Tank hopes to expand to Nixa
NIXA, Mo. – A seafood brand that made waves on the Shark Tank is rolling into the Ozarks this summer looking for franchisees.
Cousins Maine Lobster, which began as a single food truck and gained national fame after landing a deal with investor Barbara Corcoran on the hit TV show, wants to expand to Nixa.
A Cousins Maine Lobster food truck will be in Nixa on Saturday, May 24 at 4 By 4 Brewing. According to its online menu, the chain offers just a few signature items like lobster rolls, clam chowder, and a lobster tail with tater tots.
Founded in 2012 by cousins Jim Tselikis and Sabin Lomac, the company built its reputation on serving wild-caught Maine lobster rolls from a food truck. Their pitch on Shark Tank not only won over Corcoran, but also helped propel the brand into the national spotlight.
Since that appearance, Cousins Maine Lobster has grown into a franchise with 85 units operating in more than 35 states.
Nixa is one of the latest targets in the company's national expansion strategy. By focusing on smaller cities, the brand hopes to introduce its Northeast-style seafood to areas where high-quality lobster is hard to find.
'We're excited to bring our lobster rolls and seafood experience to Nixa,' said Lindsay Herberger, the company's Director of Franchise Development. 'Our food trucks let us connect directly with communities and bring a taste of Maine to places that might not otherwise have access.'
The company plans to open 30 new locations this year and has signed more than 30 development agreements nationwide.
No specific launch date has been announced for the Nixa debut, but the company says it's actively seeking franchise partners to help drive the local rollout.
