Phil Collins health update after bizarre Sir Paul McCartney hospital rumour
In the wake of Ozzy Osbourne's death last month, rumours we were about to lose another music legend began to circulate. Speculation that Phil Collins was receiving hospice care had to be quashed after fans feared the iconic drummer was receiving end-of-life care following his lengthy health battle.
A representative for the Genesis star confirmed that Phil is actually in hospital having knee surgery, and isn't on his deathbed. The widespread speculation that Phil was receiving end-of-life care sent ripples of concern through his devoted followers just days before the statement was put out.
In June, Phil did admit to his deteriorating health. Speaking to MOJO, he revealed a diminishing enthusiasm for creating fresh music owing to being "very sick."
Phil Collins' hospital dash and hospice rumours - what we know about his health
He commented, "I keep thinking I should go downstairs to the studio and see what happens. But I'm not hungry for it anymore. The thing is, I've been sick. I mean very sick."
"It's still kind of sinking in a bit," confessed the Grammy-winning performer. "I've spent all my life playing drums. To suddenly not be able to do that is a shock."
Phil, who started drumming at just five years old, observed that his lifelong passion has "taken its toll on my hands, legs. If I can't do what I did as well as I did it, I'd rather relax and not do anything," he declared. "If I wake up one day and I can hold a pair of drumsticks, then I'll have a crack at it. But I just feel like I've used up my air miles."
Did Sir Paul McCartney visit Phil Collins in hospital?
It has been reported that Paul McCartney visited Phil Collins in hospital, but those claims are just rumours.
A heartwarming - but clearly false - claim has gone viral on social media that The Beatles legend visited Genesis star Phil in hospital, serenading him with "Hey Jude" on his guitar.
On 3rd August, for instance, a Facebook page named Rock & Roll Universe shared the rumour (archived), racking up over 88,000 reactions and more than 16,000 shares of its post at the time of writing.
The fictional post showcased two images: one of McCartney hugging Collins in what seemed to be a hospital room, and another of the former Beatle strumming his guitar while the Genesis star rested in a hospital bed, surrounded by medical staff. The caption of the fake post claimed: "This afternoon, London's hospital halls fell unusually silent as Paul McCartney quietly arrived, carrying the same old guitar that had followed him through decades. On the fifth floor, Phil Collins lay still — frail and pale after months battling severe complications from spinal and heart conditions. As Paul entered the room, Phil's eyes slowly opened, his lips trembling without sound.
"Without a word, Paul sat down and began to strum 'Hey Jude' — gently, with deep emotion. Each lyric poured warmth into the sterile room, moving the nurses to tears, while a single tear slid down Phil's cheek. When the final chord faded, Paul took his old friend's hand and whispered, 'We're still a band, even if the only stage left is life itself'." The story has since spread among musicians like a final love song between two legends."

Luke Littler jumping for joy at Australian Darts Master after experiencing ‘things that we probably won't ever do again'
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) LUKE LITTLER hopes he is jumping for joy at the Australian Darts Masters – after a day feeding kangaroos and cuddling koalas. The Nuke made hard work of his first appearance Down Under this summer as he eventually knocked out New Zealander Haupai Puha 6-5 following minimal practice. Being nine hours ahead of the UK, the jetlag has been an issue since he arrived in the country and he said he needed a decent kip. Yet he has tried to make most of the popular tourist attractions, visiting Sydney's Opera House and then seeing the exotic animals at the Wollongong Zoo with girlfriend Faith. Littler said: 'How's the jetlag? Oh, it's awful. Same as last year. Not slept too much over here. When the world No.1 nailed the winning double five, he pointed to the skies but he declined to elaborate on the meaning. Asked about the significance of his actions, Cool Hand Luke said: 'Yeah, I can't talk about it right now. You'll find out. It's just bad news today that's all. 'I will enjoy these events with my dad. Phil Collins fans left outraged as 'sick' AI photos of star, 74, appearing frail in hospital bed while being visited by Paul McCartney, 83, go viral aid rumours he's in a hospice
Phil Collins fans have been left outraged after 'sick' photos of the singer appearing frail in hospital have gone viral following rumours he was in a hospice. The fake images show the 74-year-old retired Genesis drummer as he was visited by Paul McCartney, with the pair embracing before the Beatles legend serenaded him with a song. Phil's representatives were forced to deny the singer was in a hospice earlier this week following speculation over his health, confirming to TMZ that he was actually in a hospital undergoing knee surgery. The photos were shared by Facebook group Rock & Roll Universe which fans were quick to brand them in poor taste and a obvious forgery, considering Paul, 83, unlike in the photos plays his guitar left handed. Alongside the images, the post read: 'This afternoon, London's hospital halls fell unusually silent as Paul McCartney quietly arrived, carrying the same old guitar that had followed him through decades'. 'On the fifth floor, Phil Collins lay still—frail and pale after months battling severe complications from spinal and heart conditions. As Paul entered the room, Phil's eyes slowly opened, his lips trembling without sound'. Before adding: Without a word, Paul sat down and began to strum 'Hey Jude' — gently, with deep emotion. Each lyric poured warmth into the sterile room, moving the nurses to tears, while a single tear slid down Phil's cheek. Before adding: 'When the final chord faded, Paul took his old friend's hand and whispered, 'We're still a band, even if the only stage left is life itself.' The story has since spread among musicians like a final love song between two legend'. Furious fans took to the comments writing: 'That is not Phil Collins': 'It's sick, shouldn't be allowed': 'that's not Phil.... and Paul is left handed!': 'I'm so tied of all this AI stuff': 'Just when you thought this AI-generated c*** couldn't get any worse'. The former entertainer stopped playing drums in 2022 due to physical limitations, and in February said he no longer wants to make music. 'I keep thinking I should go downstairs to the studio and see what happens,' the Grammy winner told MOJO magazine, adding, 'But I'm not hungry for it anymore. The thing is, I've been sick. I mean very sick...' The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer suffers from type 2 diabetes and complications from a spine injury he incurred nearly 20 years ago. 'My vertebrae have been crushing my spinal cord because of the position I drum in. It comes from years of playing,' he told Daily Mail in 2009. 'I can't even hold the sticks properly without it being painful. I even used to tape the sticks to my hands to get through,' he said at the time, adding cheekily, 'Don't worry, I can still sing.' The MOJO interview was part of a larger story that served as a retrospective for all the eras of Genesis. The actor, who is the father of Emily in Paris star Lily Collins, got his start in show business as the Artful Dodger in Oliver on London's West End in 1964. During that time the young actor, who had been drumming since the age of five, got to know the orchestra leader and the drummer, which inspired him to become a professional percussionist, according to Drumeo. Collins auditioned for Genesis and joined the group in 1970 at age 19, replacing John Mayhew on drums. He became the frontman for the group when Peter Gabriel left to pursue a solo career in August 1975. The group released eight albums together, collecting numerous awards before Collins exited to pursue a solo career in 1996. During that time he won eight Grammy awards, six Brit Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, three American Music Awards, two Golden Globes and an Oscar. Phil's health update comes days after he paid tribute to Ozzy Osbourne following his death last month at age 76. He shared a throwback photo of the two music artists embracing with smiles on their faces. The caption simply read, 'In happier times, love always PC x.'

Period drama fans rave about ‘best television series' based on beloved books
The period drama has been deemed 'flawless' Period drama enthusiasts are absolutely obsessed with one particular TV series currently available for streaming, whilst viewers have been lapping up another show dubbed the "epitome of charm" and a further programme branded "outstanding" by fans, reports the Manchester Evening News. The series drew inspiration from a collection of novels and writings penned by a celebrated author. Whilst this wasn't the debut television adaptation of the literary works, this particular version has undoubtedly made a lasting impression on viewers. Countless fans have sung the drama's praises on IMDB, with one viewer awarding it a perfect 10/10 rating and declaring: "Flawless In Every Respect!". The enthusiastic reviewer gushed: "At 65 years of age I have seen my share of movies and plays and I would have to say that this series is simply one of the, if not THE best productions I have ever had the pleasure of viewing." "From camera work, through scripting, through character development it was simply beyond compare. The acting was of a level seldom encountered these days, or for that matter, any other days." Another glowing 10/10 review proclaimed: "The series was a sumptuous delight and I will miss my Sunday night's viewing. "The story was brought to life wonderfully, with great direction, amazing costumes and brilliant acting." A third 10/10 review was titled: "Fabulous version of Galsworthy's novel", with the user explaining: "I had never heard of The Forsyte Saga before seeing the mini-series but I enjoyed it so much that I bought the novel, and isn't that really what these adaptations of novels are all about- trying to interest people enough to read the book the movie was based on?". "I'm glad this version wasn't completely true to the novel considering that so many of the characters in the novel are either underdeveloped or so enigmatic that it's hard to have any kind of feelings about them." The Forsyte Saga drew inspiration from Nobel Prize-winning writer John Galsworthy's collection of the same title, which earned him the coveted honour. The 2002 television drama spanned two series with 10 episodes in total, arriving 35 years following the BBC's tremendously popular 1967 adaptation. This fresh take boasted an impressive ensemble cast, featuring the talents of Wolf Hall and Homeland's Damian Lewis, Gina McKee from Line of Duty and Notting Hill, Sherlock's Rupert Graves, Persuasion performer Corin Redgrave, and King Arthur star Ioan Gruffudd. Additional performers included Sarah Winman, Gillian Kearney, John Carlisle, Amanda Root, Julian Ovenden, Alistair Petrie, and Ben Miles, amongst others. The Forsyte Saga chronicled the experiences of three generations of the titular upper-middle-class English family spanning from the 1870s through to 1920. Viewers were taken on a rollercoaster ride through the family's ups and downs, charting their scandals, affairs and more. Lead actor Lewis received heaps of praise, with one viewer penning a 10/10 review: "Damian Lewis made this mini-series for me!". They elaborated: "I truly enjoyed this mini-series. I felt that Damian Lewis' portrayal of Soames was truly award-winning. After seeing him in other roles (most notably Band of Brothers), I am even more impressed with his range." Another viewer chimed in: "I have not seen the original film or read the book, so I have a fresh perspective on this version of The Forsyte Saga. It is a brilliantly acted, emotionally stirring film. Damian Lewis is outstanding." PBS recently revealed plans to remake The Forsyte Saga, with the new series The Forsytes set to debut in 2026, featuring a star-studded cast including Millie Gibson, Tuppence Middleton, Danny Griffin, Joshua Orpin, Jack Davenport, Stephen Moyer, and Eleanor Tomlinson.
