SEOUL, South Korea, Aug. 5, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Beyond Music, a leading Asia-based music IP investment and data management firm, has acquired the publishing catalog of globally renowned songwriter Bekuh Boom, best known for her work with BLACKPINK.
The acquisition includes 33 songs, among them BLACKPINK's most iconic hits: "Kill This Love," "DDU-DU DDU-DU," "Ice Cream," "BOOMBAYAH," and "Pretty Savage." Each of these tracks has surpassed 500 million streams on Spotify, establishing them as key pillars of BLACKPINK's global discography.
This deal follows Beyond Music's recent acquisition of a copyright stake in BTS's international hit "Butter," further cementing the company's presence in the global K-pop IP market.
"By acquiring rights to signature tracks from both BTS and BLACKPINK—two of the most iconic acts in K- pop—we've reached a major milestone in executing our global strategy," said Jinwoo Jo, CEO of Beyond Music. "It's also an honor to invest in the work of Bekuh Boom, a world-class songwriter whose catalog continues to resonate with audiences worldwide. We look forward to supporting her future creative endeavors and building a long-term partnership."

She made her K-pop debut in 2014 with TAEYANG's "Eyes, Nose, Lips" and quickly became one of the genre's most in-demand voices, penning over ten No. 1 hits across global charts. With credits for artists like BLACKPINK, WINNER, and Jeon Somi, Bekuh has played a key role in defining the sound of modern K-pop and cementing its place on the world stage.
BLACKPINK remains a dominant force in global pop music, boasting over 98 million YouTube subscribers and holding a Guinness World Record. After a hiatus of two years and ten months, the group made a highly anticipated return this July with the release of their new single "Jump", which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 chart. Kicking off the concert in Korea, BLACKPINK is currently embarking on a world tour which will span 31 shows across the countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Japan through next January.
The Bekuh Boom acquisition is part of Beyond Music's broader strategy to selectively invest in high-performing music assets that offer long-term value. Since its founding in 2021, Beyond Music has completed over 100 large- scale music IP acquisitions, managing more than 35,000 master and publishing rights spanning hits from the 1990s to today.

Government officials dance to K-pop song to promote global summit

Picture this. A senior government spokesperson dressed like a K-pop idol, dancing to a viral Netflix tune ― on the official YouTube channel of Korea's Ministry of Agriculture. On Tuesday, the ministry uploaded a video featuring spokesperson Jeon Han-young dressed as Abby, a muscular K-pop boy band member of the fictitious Saja Boys in Netflix's 'Kpop Demon Hunters.' In the clip, Jeon takes on the 'Soda Pop Challenge,' a trending dance from the show, bouncing his shoulders to the beat. The lighthearted video was made to promote the 10th APEC Food Security Ministerial Meeting. The summit will bring together officials from 21 Asia-Pacific economies in Incheon this weekend to discuss food security and innovation in agriculture. 'We wanted to highlight the event in a way that feels global and current, while encouraging public interest,' a ministry official said, adding that the dance challenge "was perfect for it." As of Wednesday morning, the video had surpassed 11,000 views. The Agriculture Ministry's recent push into digital media began in June last year, as public concern over food prices was rising. Minister Song Mi-ryeong started appearing in online videos to explain policy and connect more directly with the public. Some of those videos leaned heavily into humor. For instance, in one, inspired by Netflix's 'Culinary Class Wars,' spokesperson Jeon appears as competition judge Ahn Seong-jae to evaluate Agriculture Minister Song's cooking. The ministry's strategy seems to be working. Its YouTube channel now has more than 258,000 subscribers, the highest among Korea's 19 central government agencies.

Dozens gather at Florida church for Hulk Hogan's funeral service

LARGO, Florida (AP) — Dozens of people gathered Tuesday evening at a funeral service for famed wrestler Hulk Hogan, who died last month at 71. The private service was held at the same church where Hogan, whose real name was Terry Bollea, was baptized in 2023. He died after suffering a heart attack July 24 at his home in Clearwater, according to the Pinellas County medical examiner. Hogan previously had leukemia and atrial fibrillation, an irregular heart rhythm, the examiner's report said. His death was declared to be natural. The service was heavily patrolled by church security and Largo police officers, including K-9 dogs. Anyone not on the guest list was turned away near signs that read, "Private Event." President Donald Trump posted a photo on his Truth Social platform showing him arm wrestling Hogan, saying, "They are having the 'Hulkster's' funeral today, and I thought everybody would enjoy seeing this picture." Gov. Ron DeSantis ordered flags flown at half-staff at all official buildings last Friday, which he declared "Hulk Hogan Day in Florida." Hogan was perhaps the biggest star in WWE's long history, known for both his larger-than-life personality and his in-ring exploits. He was the main draw for the first WrestleMania in 1985 and was a fixture for years, facing everyone from Andre The Giant and Randy Savage to The Rock and even WWE co-founder Vince McMahon. Hogan was also a celebrity outside the wrestling world, appearing in numerous movies and television shows, including "Hogan Knows Best," a reality show about his life on VH1. Hogan's body will be cremated. His daughter Brooke Bollea Oleksy, better known by her stage name Brooke Hogan, memorialized her father in a recent social media post. "I am so grateful I knew the real version of him. Not just the one the world viewed through a carefully curated lens," she wrote on Instagram.
