Nick Kyrgios troubled over Jannik Sinner reaching Wimbledon final after drug ban
Sinner has enjoyed a superb run at Wimbledon this year, defeating Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals to set up a showdown with Carlos Alcaraz.
It's the first time the Italian world No.1 has reached the final at the Championships as he looks to get his hands on a fourth major trophy.
There is still some controversy surrounding Sinner – who failed two drug tests in 2024 – with Kyrgios one of his biggest long-term vocal critics.
Sinner was suspended at all tennis competitions from February 9, 2025 to May 4, 2025 following a World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) settlement.
The 23-year-old twice tested positive for clostebol, a steroid that can be used to build muscle mass.
WADA accepted Sinner's explanation that he was accidentally contaminated by a massage from his physiotherapist, who used a spray containing the banned substance to treat a finger cut.
They ruled that Sinner 'did not intend to cheat' but insisted that he was responsible for his team's negligence, which ultimately saw him punished.
After Sinner made his return at the Italian Open in May, he went on to reach the French Open final – where he lost to Alcaraz – and he's now reached a second Grand Slam final in a row after his impressive run in SW19.
But Kyrgios has been left concerned over how Sinner playing in the Wimbledon final will impact tennis' image, especially after Iga Swiatek, who accepted a one-month ban after testing positive for a banned substance in November 2024, won this year's women's singles title.
'Do I think it's a good look for the sport that Swiatek and Sinner are in the final at Wimbledon after serving a ban? I don't think it's a good look for the sport,' Kyrgios told iNews. More Trending
'And I think people could agree. But I'm not going to sit there and talk about that [on commentary] in the final. They've been playing some incredible tennis.
'Sinner, he served a ban, which do I agree with? No. But he came back and he's been playing some excellent tennis.
'He didn't look like he missed a beat, and he looked like he improved during that period of time, which is still incredible, regardless of why he was banned.'

Now, police have revealed some more details about his last-known movements. One of the 20 rescuers, who are combing the area, assisted by a helicopter, told The Times that they are "concerned because there are plenty of dangerous gullies and ravines in that area." His mother, Sara Foster, said her concerns started when her son failed to board his planned flight to Manchester on Saturday afternoon. A police started started hours later. 'It was typical for Matthew to not have been in touch to avoid paying for data but now I was worrying, although not panicking," she said. But she has been anxiously waiting at home for updates from the Italian authorities - says she has been 'blown sideways' by the support she has received from Matthew's friends and the wider public. She is also grateful to a group of his pals have flown over to join the search teams, who have spent time analysing the last photo he sent to try and pin down its exact location Matthew's employers, Quickline Communcations in Hull, are also sending six staff members out to join the efforts. His mother, who works for elderly care firm Home Instead, said: 'I feel like I'm living someone else's nightmare but I've just been blown sideways by all of his friends. I didn't know them all but I do now. "The way that they have just leapt into action has been unbelievable, it really has. I obviously realise that he's very loved. I got a message from the search team this morning – there are apparently five teams who are out looking for him. Matthew sent a photo of the cross at Alpe Daloo, near San Giacomo Filippo, to friends on the day he went missing, his mum said. His close friend Ben Lee has travelled with a group of friends to Chiavenna. He said his missing pal was last spotted by a girl at a local church on the day he vanished. "It kind of confirmed which route he was going on before there was a sighting of him later on in the day, at a certain point on the trail," he said. "We've got mountain rescue out at the minute. There's four teams, three helicopters and they're going to carry on searching."

Three arrested after van crashed into perimeter of defence factory
Three women have been arrested after a van was driven into the perimeter of a defence factory in Edinburgh. A pro-Palestinian group, Shut Down Leonardo Edinburgh, claimed members had damaged the site on Ferry Road on Tuesday. An image from the scene shows three people on top of a van that has made contact with a fence. Police confirmed they responded to the incident at the Italian-owned manufacturer, which supplies parts for jets and helicopters. Officers arrested three women aged 31, 34 and 42 in connection with the incident. Police Scotland said enquiries were ongoing. According to the Leonardo's Edinburgh website, the site employs around 1,800 people who 'specialise in the provision of multi-role surveillance radars and countermeasure systems'. The activist group said it targeted the factory in a bid to 'shut down' the site, which it claims supplies weapons and aircraft to Israel. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'Officers were called to an ongoing disturbance in the Crewe Road North area of Edinburgh on the morning of Tuesday, July 15, 2025. British tourist dies in Ibiza supermarket car park plunge days after Scot's fatal hotel fall
Another British tourist has lost his life falling at a supermarket car park in Ibiza, just days after Evan Thomson died at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel after a fall. A British man who fell from a supermarket car park at an Ibiza holiday resort has died in hospital. The incident happened just after 8pm local time on Monday July 14 when the man fell from the Mercadona supermarket car park. The 25-year-old was taken to hospital by paramedics and admitted just after 9.30pm. However the Nuestra Senora del Rosario Polyclinic, where he was admitted to intensive care, said in an update: "Regrettably and despite all the efforts of medical personnel, the patient who fell yesterday in San Antonio has died due to the severity of his injuries." The Civil Guard is understood to have launched an investigation into the incident. It is not yet known where in the UK the injured man is from and whether he was on his own when he fell or accompanied by other people. The height he plunged from has not yet been disclosed. It comes just days after a Scottish tourist also died after falling from height at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel. Paramedics were called to the scene on Monday July 7 but Evan Thomson, from Aberdeen, was pronounced dead in the grounds of the hotel. Spanish authorities are understood to be investigating the accident. His devastated mum Lel Kellighan shared the tragic news in a Facebook post on Sunday night. She wrote: 'I'm absolutely heartbroken to write and tell you all, earlier this week my son Evan was in a tragic accident whilst on holiday with his friends in Ibiza and sadly passed away. "We are all absolutely broken." In April, a 19-year-old Italian tourist of Turkish origin fell to her death from the fourth-floor. While a Scottish teenager died in the early hours of August 20 last year after falling from a sixth-floor hotel balcony in Ibiza. Emma Ramsay, 19, from Hamilton, was on holiday with friends in the party resort of San Antonio. The tragedy occurred at a seafront four-star adult-only hotel called Hotel Vibra District.
