Women's boxing is experiencing something remarkable. Claressa Shields and Laila Ali could have a very large battle. Both women are legends in their own right; now they might eventually meet one other in the ring.
Still, events have already turned dramatically before the conflict even begins. Khalilah Ali, Muhammad Ali's ex-wife, is not supporting Laila. She really believes Laila has little chance. What started as a dream matchup is quickly turning into a family drama filled with strong opinions and bold statements.
Khalilah Ali believes Claressa Shields will easily defeat Laila Ali
Married to Muhammad Ali from 1967 to 1976, Khalilah Ali spoke to the media during the official weigh-ins for Claressa Shields' championship defense against Lani Daniels in Detroit in July 2025.
She made it absolutely clear standing next to Claressa that Laila would suffer badly.
She was asked for her prediction, and she stated,
'She's going to get whooped,'
clearly referring to Laila. The FightHype reporter then asked in which round she thought it would end. Khalilah replied
, 'Three or four. She got to go.'
These comments made headlines because Khalilah has been part of the Ali family and knows Laila well. Her words shocked fans, especially because she was one of the first people to suggest this fight before Claressa secured the massive purse.
Her opinion matters and she didn't hold back.
Claressa Shields and Laila Ali speak on the $15 million offer
Just days earlier, Laila Ali, 47, had said she would only consider coming out of retirement if offered $15–20 million. During the fight week Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano III, this comment was made. Claressa Shields promptly responded.
She said in a video posted to Instagram,
'Laila, I'm here with my team. We got the $15 million!'
She also added,
'I'll put you on your back,'
showing no fear. Claressa, often known as the GWOAT (Greatest Woman of All Time), is now the unchallenged heavyweight champion.
Having retired unblemished in 2007 with a record of 24–0, Laila has not fought in almost eighteen years. Now, this fight, if it happens would be between a legend of the past and the queen of today's boxing.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's new NBA deal exceeds entire 2013–14 Spurs team salary under fresh cap rules (Image Source: Getty Images) A shocking pay comparison is drawing wide attention in basketball circles. One star now pocketing more in a single season than a full championship team did a decade ago says a lot about how NBA finances have escalated, with one player alone rewriting what we expect from contracts today. Shai Gilgeous‑Alexander secures record‑breaking contract paying more than 2013‑14 Spurs payroll On July 8, Shai Gilgeous‑Alexander, reigning NBA MVP and Finals MVP, signed a four‑year supermax extension with the Oklahoma City Thunder. The deal averages about $68.1 million per year, making it the highest annual salary in NBA history. — RTNBA (@RTNBA) By contrast, the entire San Antonio Spurs active roster in the 2013–14 championship season made roughly $63.5 million combined. Essentially, one season's pay for Gilgeous‑Alexander now surpasses the total earned by an entire title‑winning Spurs team. How salary cap growth and superstar status created this historic pay gap This big difference in pay is because of the rising NBA salary cap. In 2013–14, the cap was $58.68 million. In 2025, it had grown to over $140 million. This jump is mostly due to new TV deals and the 2023 agreement between players and the league. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's new deal is huge. In the 2025-26 season, he will make around $38.3 million. In 2026-27, it goes up to $40.8 million. By 2029-30, it could be more than $70 million. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like No annual fees for life UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo On average, he will earn about $68 million per year. That's the highest yearly pay for any NBA player. Shai is only 26 years old. He had a great year before signing this contract. He won the MVP, was the top scorer, and won the Finals MVP too. He helped the Oklahoma City Thunder win their first NBA title since 2008. The San Antonio Spurs in 2013–14 was very different. That team had legends like Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili. They all played together with a team-first mindset. Their total team salary was only $63.5 million that year. Still, they won the championship. It shows how fast the NBA has changed. Shai's contract shows how much top players are worth today. It's a big sign of how far the league's money has grown. PO on the mic: Singer who called govt house a jail busted after 10 years

1 2 Chandigarh: Declared a proclaimed offender in 2016, Sirsa resident Jagsir Singh evaded police for nine years by constantly changing his location and identity. However, his run ended with a dramatic revelation on Wednesday — he is Punjabi singer Baaz Sran, who just two months ago released a song likening a 'Sarkari Kothi' (govt residence) to a jail. In an irony of sorts, the lyrics of the song 'Sarkari Kothi' — which has 13 lakh views on YouTube — go: 'Jattan di sarkari kothi hundi jail kuddey (The official residence of Jatts is jail, lady).' Sran, who has 32,600 followers on Instagram and has sung duets with female singers like Deepak Dhillon and Gurlez Akhtar, was arrested by the Chandigarh zonal unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in connection with the alleged seizure of 36kg opium in 2015. Sran hails from Malikpura village in Haryana's Sirsa district. An official privy to the case said Baaz himself penned the lyrics and composed his songs. In May 2025, NCB published Jagsir's details in leading newspapers and announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for information leading to his arrest. Based on inputs received thereafter, he was arrested on Wednesday, the NCB said in a statement. The statement added: "During his absconding period, he gained popularity as a singer on social media platforms like YouTube and Instagram, amassing millions of views under a different identity. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Learn More - How Donating Plasma May Boost Your Income SpellRock Undo " At the time of his arrest, Sran was accompanied by a woman, said an official. The official added that a co-accused in the opium seizure had already been convicted. The official added that though Sran had was facing a drug seizure case, he did not consume them. "He is a fitness freak. He had just finished running and was exercising when we nabbed him. While he was involved in the drugs case and promotes drugs and weapons in the songs, he himself does not consume drugs," added the official. 'Sarkari Kothi': A song about life of crime In the song 'Sarkari Kothi', Baaz Sran has also penned lyrics about facing charges under the Arms Act and an 'attempt to murder' charge against him. The lyrics go: "25, 54, 59 laggi naal 307 de ni, jail diyaan baahlian likhiyaan karman vich jatt de di (I have been charged with sections 25, 54 and 59, along with Section 307. A long stay in jail is written in Jatt's fate)."

Actor Darshan, Pavithra ask SC not to cancel bail in murder case

Bengaluru: Actor Darshan and co-accused Pavithra Gowda urged Supreme Court to uphold the bail granted to them by Karnataka high court in the sensational Renukaswamy murder case. The apex court had reserved its verdict after a lengthy hearing on Karnataka govt's plea seeking to cancel their bail. In his written submission, Darshan (accused no. 2 in the case) argued that bail should only be revoked in cases of serious violations, none of which apply to him. "Cancellation of bail is a harsh step that curtails personal liberty and shouldn't be taken lightly," his plea stated. The actor said he hadn't breached any bail conditions and there was no evidence against him when he was arrested in Mysuru for a crime that allegedly occurred in Bengaluru. He insisted the crime scene narrative was constructed using handpicked witnesses while key individuals present at the shed on the day of the murder — such as Vijay, Basavaraj and others — were curiously left out by the prosecution. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Accounting Help Made Simple legal directorate Learn More Undo He also highlighted procedural delays, including a three-day gap before the inquest and postmortem were conducted, allegedly due to identity issues. In her written submissions, Pavithra Gowda, accused no. 1, said no exceptional circumstances exist to cancel the bail granted to her. Countering their arguments, the govt pointed to Darshan's post-bail behaviour: He was seen socialising with Chikkanna, a witness, after being granted bail. Further, although he received exemption from court appearance on medical grounds in April (citing back pain), he was spotted at a film screening the very next day. 5th suspect held in Ramya case Cybercrime police arrested 23-year-old Manjunath from Koppal in north Karnataka on charges of sending abusive messages to actor Ramya. Police said Manjunath, a daily- wage labourer, sent her the message from his Instagram account, forever_crickte_lover. This is the fifth suspected to be arrested in the case.
