DreamCloud Mattress Review: A New Design Brings Balanced Comfort

Forbes4 days ago
DreamCloud is an online mattress brand and the sister company to Nectar, another popular bed-in-a-box brand owned by Resident Home. It specializes in quality beds that cater to those who enjoy the pressure-relieving feel of memory foam. The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress is its flagship, entry-level option that offers a great value for a variety of people looking to improve their sleep setup, and in turn, quality of rest. Our DreamCloud Mattress review shares insights from a group of eight testers who evaluated the mattress alongside more than a dozen top-rated competitors to see how it matched up.

Our testers took a look at important features like firmness, feel, ideal sleeping positions, motion isolation, edge support and more in order to gauge how the DreamCloud Classic performs for different types of individuals. Whether you're a co-sleeper, have a petite to plus-size body type or you favor sleeping on your back or stomach, there are plenty of reasons to like the DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress. See our thoughts below, and who we think it's best (and least) suited for.

The DreamCloud mattress lineup recently saw upgraded design and construction changes, and the new and improved model was well-received among our testers who varied in body type, preferred sleep posture and gender. 'I would recommend this mattress to someone who wants a slight upgrade from a more value-conscious model, without veering into the 'luxury' territory,' says one tester. 'There's just enough sink to feel cradled but enough firmness to feel supported. My back issue might really benefit with this kind of hybrid,' adds another. Whether they were 150 pounds or 250 pounds, our testers praised the DreamCloud for its balanced feel and ability to relieve pressure without compromising on support.
The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress is 12 inches tall and contains a blend of comfortable foam layers with supportive spring coils. Although, if you prefer a memory foam feel without coils, you can upgrade to the all-foam model for around $150 more.
Here's a look at the inside of the hybrid model: Cover: Finishing the mattress is a quilted top cover with a scalloped design, stitched-in foam and cooling polyethylene fiber infusions to help regulate temperature.

The brand rates the bed as firm, but our testers found it has an ample amount of cushion that makes it feel closer to a medium-firm instead, or a 6 to 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale. 'It has a lifted, cushiony feel. You get a nice level of support and are more on the bed than in it. It also feels a touch softer than the previous model of this mattress,' says Bridget Chapman , Forbes Vetted's senior mattress and sleep editor.
We found the 12-inch DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress to be medium-firm. JAMEL TOPPIN FOR FORBES
Another tester echoes her thoughts and says, 'It feels cushiony on the top, but with a solid firmness underneath so there's no sinkage like a true memory foam mattress . As a result, we think the DreamCloud Hybrid is best for back, stomach and plus-size side sleepers (back sleeping received an 8.5 out of 10 and stomach sleeping scored an 8 out of 10). However, prominent side sleepers should consider a soft mattress with more give to receive better pressure relief under the joints. DreamCloud Mattress Features Pressure Relief
Pressure relief is an important aspect for all sleep postures, but especially side sleepers whose shoulders and hips take the brunt of force while they sleep. Because the DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress has a dense, medium-firm profile, it's a little too stiff for most side sleepers, unless you weigh over 250 pounds. 'I feel a bit of pressure buildup in my hip, which is inadvertently causing some pressure between my stacked knees,' says a tester. Back and stomach sleepers, on the other hand, can feel the top cover's gentle cushioning ease pressure from the spine as they lie down. Our testers scored it an 8.5 out of 10 for overall pressure relief. Cooling
The top cover on the DreamCloud Mattress is woven with cooling polyethylene fibers that help combat memory foam's natural tendency to retain heat, and its innersprings allow for air to pass through easier than foam. Most testers called its cooling feel subtle to average, but it does help regulate temperature better than a traditional memory foam bed. That said, if you're an ultra-hot sleeper, consider one of the best cooling mattresses tested by our editors that contain extra-cool reinforcements. Motion Transfer
If you sleep with a partner or pet, you've likely awoken in the middle of the night from their movements carrying across the bed. A bed with good motion isolation stops those movements in their tracks. We found that the DreamCloud's capabilities are average, as we gave this category a 7.5 out of 10. If you're a light sleeper or prefer a mattress that deadens all movement across a bed, consider the all-foam DreamCloud Mattress, which is great at absorbing motion.
Our team tested the DreamCloud Classic Hybrid alongside over a dozen other mattresses and found it ... More has good edge support. JAMEL TOPPIN FOR FORBES Support
Every sleeper should prioritize support no matter their primary sleep posture. Back, stomach and plus-size sleepers, however, benefit from extra support to prevent the hips and spine from dipping out of alignment. One tester over 250 pounds says, 'I feel no sagging or dipping while sleeping on my back. I tend to store a lot of stress in my shoulders and upper back, and they felt fully supported.' Another heavyweight tester adds, 'My lower back feels supported [while stomach sleeping], which is good considering this position usually tweaks my back.' In total, the DreamCloud Hybrid is built to withstand up to 1,000 pounds evenly distributed (500 pounds on each side).
In terms of edge support, or how sturdy the perimeter of the mattress is, the DreamCloud Hybrid performed well and scored an 8 out of 10. 'This has great edge support while lying down. I feel stable and like I could comfortably stay here all night,' says Chapman. This makes it a good choice for couples who share a small bed (full or queen size) and want to feel more supported along the side. It's also helpful for people with back problems or mobility issues, as the bed is easier to get in and out of. Ease Of Movement
Especially important for combination sleepers and those with pain, the DreamCloud Classic Hybrid scored a 9 out of 10 for ease of movement. 'This mattress has a bouncy feel that makes it easy to switch positions with minimal effort,' says a tester. Although it's made with dense memory foam layers, its firmness prevents sinkage while its coils keep you from feeling stuck. DreamCloud Mattress Pricing
Like most online mattresses, standard shipping is free for your DreamCloud and it arrives at your door inside of a box. However, you can upgrade to white glove delivery and old mattress removal for an extra cost. DreamCloud says you can start sleeping on the mattress after just a few hours but notes it could take up to 72 hours for it to fully expand. Trial Period And Returns
DreamCloud is one of the handful of mattress brands that offers a lengthy 365-night trial, in addition to free returns in the contiguous U.S. if you decide not to keep the mattress. Just note that the brand asks you to wait at least 30 days before initiating a return to let your body acclimate to its feel. Warranty
Every DreamCloud mattress includes a limited lifetime warranty that remains valid for as long as the original purchaser owns it. The warranty covers manufacturing and material defects, such as indentations deeper than 1.5 inches and physical flaws that cause the foam to degrade or split. For the first ten years of ownership, DreamCloud will replace a defective mattress with a brand new one at no cost. After ten years, the company will either repair or replace the mattress, though a transportation fee will apply. It's important to read the warranty details closely to avoid voiding coverage and understand what's included. Other Mattresses From DreamCloud
DreamCloud currently offers four different mattress models that are all offered in both hybrid and all-foam constructions: the Classic, Premier, Luxe and Ultra. Learn more about the Ultra Hybrid and Premier Memory Foam below.
As the brand's top-tier mattress model, the DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid offers soft contouring and doughiness that's more accommodating for side sleepers than the DreamCloud Classic Hybrid, plus it features better cooling power.
The Premier Memory Foam model from DreamCloud has a few more upgrades than the flagship hybrid mattress, including a Euro top that makes it feel more plush and luxurious along with extra cooling fibers for better temperature regulation. However, it's best for those under 250 pounds because of its all-foam design.
The DreamCloud Classic Hybrid offers a good value in terms of comfort, support and versatility—in fact, we named it the best value mattress of 2025. It has a medium-firm profile that's dense and cushioned at the same time, and we found it offers strong spinal reinforcement for back and stomach sleepers. 'This feels a touch softer than its predecessor, putting it in the true medium-firm range, and it has better edge support than the previous model,' says Chapman.
It's also a great option if you live with back pain, since it has solid edge support and provides good ease of movement. However, people who value stellar motion isolation should consider the DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam Mattress or another all-foam model instead. Side sleepers should also consider another choice that's softer, especially those under 250 pounds, like the DreamCloud Luxe or the Ultra, which offer more contouring under the body's curves. We also have experienced editors who contribute to and/or oversee our processes.
We had eight people with different sleep posture preferences, body types and pain points test the DreamCloud Classic Hybrid Mattress and compare it to over a dozen other mattresses that are highly rated online.
Testers analyzed key criteria including firmness, feel, ideal sleep posture, motion isolation, ease of movement, temperature and support. Each metric was rated on a scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being the best.
How Long Does A DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress Last?
DreamCloud mattresses come with a limited lifetime warranty. If a defect arises during normal use within the first ten years of ownership, DreamCloud will replace it at no cost. After ten years, the company will repair or replace it, though shipping fees apply. In general, hybrid mattresses generally last around a decade.
Is The DreamCloud Firm Or Soft?
DreamCloud rates its Classic Hybrid Mattress as firm, but our testers found it to be closer to medium-firm with a nice balance of cushion and support.
Is DreamCloud Good For Side Sleepers?
Side sleepers generally require a mattress that is soft enough to cushion the hips and shoulders with enough support to keep the spine properly aligned. The DreamCloud Classic is a little too firm for most side sleepers, but the DreamCloud Luxe and Ultra are accommodating choices.

Thoma Bravo nearing deal to acquire software firm Dayforce, source says

(Reuters) -Private equity firm Thoma Bravo is nearing a deal to acquire HR software company Dayforce, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters on Monday. Shares of Dayforce, which has seen its stock lose more than 27% of its value so far this year, were up about 29% in late-afternoon trading. Dayforce had a market value of $8.44 billion as of Friday's closing price. Dayforce offers a cloud-based human capital management platform that includes payroll, workforce management, benefits, talent management, compliance and analytics. Thoma Bravo has been actively pursuing software acquisitions this year, betting on the build-out of artificial intelligence and the resilience of recurring revenue in a volatile economy. A deal could be announced as early as this week or possibly next week, the source said. Thoma Bravo and Dayforce did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Bloomberg News, which first reported the potential deal on Sunday, said that while the talks were advanced, they could still be delayed or falter. Dayforce beat Wall Street expectations for second-quarter revenue and raised its annual revenue forecast last week, as more enterprises increase use of AI and cloud-based platforms to run day-to-day operations. Bayer Reaches Settlement Over Seattle-Area School PCB Cases

(Bloomberg) -- Bayer AG agreed to settle cases related to a Seattle-area school where more than 200 people were exposed to toxic chemicals made by the company's Monsanto unit. A Photographer's Pipe Dream: Capturing New York's Vast Water System A London Apartment Tower With Echoes of Victorian Rail and Ancient Rome Festivals and Parades Are Canceled Amid US Immigration Anxiety Princeton Plans New Budget Cuts as Pressure From Trump Builds Chicago Schools Seeks $1 Billion of Short-Term Debt as Cash Gone Bayer didn't disclose the financial terms of the accord, but said the cost was covered by a $618.3 million provision taken this month to deal with the company's liabilities for polychlorinated biphenyls, or PCBs, once manufactured by Monsanto. The company's shares rose 2.3% in Germany. Ex-students and teachers at the Sky Valley School outside Seattle sued Bayer and Monsanto over injuries tied to PCBs contained in aging fluorescent-light fixtures. The deal announced by Bayer — already enmeshed in multiyear litigation over its herbicide Roundup — is seen as a positive development in its handling of a wave of PCB lawsuits over Monsanto building materials made half a century ago. 'This development suggests progress toward containing PCB liabilities and reducing the risk of swelling,' analysts at Jefferies wrote in a note. Bayer, which acquired Monsanto in 2018 for $63 billion, already has agreed to pay almost $2 billion in settlements in PCB cases brought by states, cities and counties. Separate litigation over Monsanto's Roundup weedkiller has created a drag on the German conglomerate's shares. The company has reserved more than $17 billion for US Roundup suits. Monsanto stopped using PCBs in its products in 1977. Analysts have cast a wary eye on Bayer's burgeoning PCB problem. Bloomberg Intelligence analyst Holly Froum has projected it may cost Monsanto and two other companies embroiled in PCBs litigation — Eastman Chemical's Solutia and Pfizer's Pharmacia — as much as $3.9 billion to settle the remaining cases. The settlement announced Monday covers more than 200 plaintiffs with ties to the Sky Valley School, Bayer said. It doesn't wipe out the 10 verdicts in which juries in Washington State already have awarded a total of more than $1 billion, the company said. Those awards are under appeal. Bayer is asking the Washington Supreme Court to throw out the PCB verdicts based on its legal defenses. The court heard arguments in February, but has yet to hand down a ruling. An intermediate appellate court's backing of Bayer's position on the PCB cases prompted the review by the state's highest court. 'While the company remains confident in its legal strategy and defenses, and is fully prepared to defend cases at trial, it has maintained it will consider resolving cases on appropriate terms when it is strategically advantageous to help mitigate the risks and uncertainties of this litigation,' Bayer officials said in a release. Washington Verdict Earlier this year, state-court jurors in Washington ordered Bayer to pay $100 million to students and teachers exposed to PCBs, which were used used in electrical transformers, paints and sealants for their fire-resistant properties. The compounds were banned in the US in 1979 after researchers found they posed a cancer risk. The company still faces dozens of PCB suits by school districts, states and cities over health exposure and environmental contamination in buildings, landfills and waterways, according to Bayer's 2023 annual report. Bayer hopes to recover some of its PCBs litigation costs from companies such as General Electric and Westinghouse Electric, now Paramount Global, that were large users of Monsanto PCB products. Bayer hired a prominent plaintiffs' lawyer to try to enforce 52-year-old indemnity contracts the company says require its corporate customers to indemnify Monsanto for payouts tied to PCB pollution. Half a million older Americans to start getting Social Security checks electronically — what you need to know

Social Security is switching to electronic-only payments, which could have a big impact on the 500,000 recipients who still receive their monthly benefits by mail. Beginning September 30 2025, the Social Security Administration (SSA) will no longer be issuing paper checks in the mail. The agency says the change is part of an effort to modernize government payment systems and enhance security and efficiency. Don't miss Thanks to Jeff Bezos, you can now become a landlord for as little as $100 — and no, you don't have to deal with tenants or fix freezers. Here's how I'm 49 years old and have nothing saved for retirement — what should I do? Don't panic. Here are 6 of the easiest ways you can catch up (and fast) Want an extra $1,300,000 when you retire? Dave Ramsey says this 7-step plan 'works every single time' to kill debt, get rich in America — and that 'anyone' can do it The change affects fewer than 1% of SSA beneficiaries, but for those impacted — many of whom are older, live in rural areas or don't have a bank account — the transition could be significant. Why is the SSA phasing out paper checks? The switch to electronic payments isn't exactly a new concept. Back in 2013, the SSA required most new enrollees to receive their benefits electronically. However, this final push eliminates paper checks entirely. There are three main reasons for this shift: Faster payments: Electronic payments arrive on time, while mail carrier issues, natural disasters or delivery errors can delay paper checks Costs less: According to the U.S. Treasury, issuing a paper check costs approximately 50 cents, compared to less than 15 cents for an electronic transfer. With more than 500,000 benefit recipients still receiving paper checks once a month, that adds up to millions in potential savings per year Improved security: Paper checks are 16 times more likely to be stolen or lost in delivery. Digital payments reduce the risk of fraud and help prevent missed payments Read more: Nervous about the stock market? Gain potential quarterly income through this $1B private real estate fund — even if you're not a millionaire. What you need to know If you're still receiving paper checks, you will need to choose an electronic payment method before the September deadline. Otherwise, the SSA will automatically enroll you in a pre-paid debit card program. Here are your two options: 1. Direct deposit You can have your benefit sent straight to your checking or savings account. You'll need to provide your bank account and routing number to set up an electronic transfer. This is the fastest and most common method as it allows your benefits to be delivered quickly and you can spend the money as you typically would. 2. Direct Express debit card For people who don't have a bank account or prefer not to use direct deposit, this government-backed prepaid card offers a secure alternative. You can use it to withdraw cash, make purchases and track spending, just like a regular debit card. To sign up or make changes, log in to your my Social Security account or visit Choosing the right option depends on your situation. If you already have a bank account, direct deposit is likely the simplest choice. Providing your bank account and routing number will not allow anyone to pull money from your account without permission, only deposit funds. If you don't have a bank account, the Direct Express card provides a secure way to access your benefits. Here are a few steps you can take to make the transition smoother: Act early: Don't wait until the last minute to sign up. The SSA recommends making the switch well before the September 30 deadline Ask for help: SSA reps are available by phone, online or in-person at SSA offices to walk you through the process Monitor your accounts: After the switch, make sure to check your account or Direct Express balance to ensure funds arrive as expected Know the signs of a scam: The SSA will never ask for personal details via email or text. It will never offer to hold your funds to protect them, or ask you to convert assets into other forms of payment, such as gold or gift cards. While the shift away from paper checks might feel abrupt to some recipients, the SSA says it's committed to supporting individuals through the process. Don't be afraid to reach out for help.
