Months after earning an Oscar nomination for her performance in 'Wicked', pop star
Ariana Grande
has finally found her next project.
The Grammy-winning singer is set to join
Robert De Niro
and
Ben Stiller
in the newest instalment of Universal's comedy movie series, 'Meet the Parents 4', according to The Hollywood Reporter.
According to sources,
Blythe Danner
and Teri Polo, who also starred in the initial trio of movies released during the first decade of the 2000s, are expected to return, although those deals have yet to close.
John Hamburg, who co-wrote all three prior films, wrote the screenplay for the new feature and is set to direct, as per The Hollywood Reporter.
Universal has set the release date for the film for November 25, 2026.
The conceit of the first movie was simple: the universal life event of having your future father-in-law give his blessing to a marriage proposal.
Combining combustible chemistry in a bottle with spot-on directing, the movie became a commercial and critical hit when it was released in 2000.
While much of the plot details remain under wraps, it has been revealed that one point revolves around the son of Stiller and Polo's characters, who gets engaged to a ball-busting woman who seems all wrong for him. Sources say Grande will play the fiancee.
Jane Rosenthal and De Niro are producing through their Tribeca Productions. Roach will produce through his Delirious Media. Stiller will produce with and
John Lesher
via their Red Hour Films banner.

When Abhishek Bachchan reflected on being compared to Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai: ‘It's never going to get easy..'

Abhishek Bachchan has lived much of his life in the spotlight, not just because of his own acting career, but also due to the family he belongs to. As the son of Bollywood legends Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan , and the husband of international icon Aishwarya Rai , Abhishek 's every move has been closely watched and often compared. But how does he really feel about constantly being measured against the towering achievements of his father and wife? In a past interview with CNBC-TV18, the 'Guru' actor had opened up about the long-standing comparisons and how he's learnt to deal with them, with grace, maturity, and a deep sense of pride in his family. 'If you are comparing me to the best...' Speaking honestly about how it feels to be compared time and again to his famous family members, the 'Dhoom' actor said, 'It's never going to get easy. But after 25 years of being asked the same question, I have become immune to it. If you are comparing me to my father, you are comparing me to the best. If you are comparing me to the best, somewhere I believe that maybe I am worthy of being considered among these great names. I look at it like that. ' Proud son, proud husband The 'Bunty Aur Babli' actor didn't shy away from talking about the people closest to him. With warmth and sincerity, he expressed his admiration for his family and their achievements. 'My parents are my parents, my family is my family, my wife is my wife, and I am immensely proud of them and their achievements and what they continue to do.' Learning from the best It's clear that the 'Manmarziyaan' actor has a deep admiration for his father's work ethic. Even at 82, Amitabh Bachchan continues to lead by example, something that fuels Abhishek's own dreams and determination. 'We are sitting here in a wonderful AC room in Mumbai, doing this interview, having a nice cup of coffee, and that 82-year-old (Amitabh Bachchan) is shooting for KBC from 7 in the morning. He's leading by example. I want to be like that. When I go to bed at night, all I think is that when I am 82, I want my daughter to be able to say that about me, 'Hey, my dad's 82 and he's still at it.'' Abhishek Bachchan also shared that everything he is today is because of his family, and he works for their honour, past, present, and future. He said he's proud of the name given by his grandfather but even prouder of the family surname. He hopes his daughter Aaradhya and future generations will value and carry forward the same belief system. Not Just Making Criminals Sing: Top Bengal IPS Officer Pens Item Number For Upcoming Cop Drama

Murlidhar Sharma, inspector general in West Bengal, has written the track Shor Machaa, sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and Rana Mazumder for the Bengali film Mrigaya In a surprising crossover, senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Murlidhar Sharma, inspector general in West Bengal, has penned the lyrics for a Hindi item number in the upcoming Bengali film Mrigaya, releasing on June 27. Known for his sharp investigative skills during his terms with Bengal and Kolkata police, Sharma enters the world of film music with the energetic track Shor Machaa, sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and Rana Mazumder. The song opens with the line 'DJ pe mast koi gaana baja, jab tak yeh saans hai shor machaa" (Play a wild song on DJ… make noise as long as this breath lasts). This high-energy item number from the cop drama has already become a hit. While many assumed a seasoned Bollywood or Tollywood lyricist penned it, the creator is the 2005-batch IPS officer who has a passion for Urdu ghazals and poetry. Sharma, who began writing nearly 30 years ago during his student days, is deeply influenced by Urdu literature and has penned numerous ghazals. However, writing for a commercial film, especially a dance number, was unexpected. In a conversation with News18, Sharma recalled his initial hesitation. 'I was approached by music director Rana Mazumder and Debasish Dutta (OC, Maniktala Police Station, and also the writer of the film). When they told me it was for an item song, I declined. I usually write Urdu ghazals born out of personal reflection, not based on scripted situations. I said it wasn't my cup of tea. But they persuaded me. I told them I will try. I scribbled a few lines and sent them to Rana Mazumder. He liked them. Now that it's out, I'm really happy with how it turned out," Sharma added. Directed by Abhirup Ghosh, Mrigaya features Ritwik Chakraborty, Vikram Chatterjee, Anirban Chakrabarti, and Saurav Das. The story revolves around a gripping murder investigation, promising suspense and intense action sequences. The filmmakers say approaching Sharma was natural; he is well-known among them as a gifted lyricist. With Mrigaya, viewers will see a rare fusion: police action on screen and a police officer's poetry in a song, proving creativity and public service are not always mutually exclusive. Mahabharat To Be Aamir Khan's Last Film? Actor Hints At It: 'I Can't Do Anything After This'

Last Updated: Aamir Khan reveals his dream of making Mahabharat, hinting it might be his last film. While promoting his upcoming release Sitaare Zameen Par, actor Aamir Khan revealed that once the film is out, he plans to dive into the making of Mahabharat. The scale of the project, he hinted, could be so immense that it might just be the final film of his career. In a conversation with Raj Shamani on his podcast, Aamir said, 'It's layered, it has emotion, it has scale, everything you find in the world, you will find in Mahabharat." He called it the one story that has stayed with him over the years, something he has always dreamed of making for the big screen. When asked about his last film, Aamir reflected, 'Maybe after doing this, I will feel that I have nothing left to do. I cannot do anything after this, as the material of this film is going to be like that." He further added, 'I hope that I die with my shoes on, but since you are asking, this is the one thing I can think of. Perhaps after this, I will feel that I don't need to do anything else." Aamir had previously told The Hollywood Reporter just how ambitious the Mahabharat project will be. 'That's one of my biggest ambitions," he said, admitting that even developing the script would take years. Aamir Khan also said that he's not sure if he will act in The Mahabharat yet. The team will pick actors based on who fits each role. 'We'll see who we should cast based on who's appropriate for which part," he clarified. He also shared that he may not direct the film himself because it's a big project and will need several films to tell the full story. 'I don't think you can tell the Mahabharat in one film, so it will be multiple films. I am looking at the large scale." Noting that it maybe a multi-director project, he added, 'It's too early to say, but we may need multiple directors." He also explained the scale of storytelling involved. Mahabharat won't be a single film. 'To complete it within a set time, we will need more than one director," he noted, hinting at a large-scale, multi-part production that could redefine Indian cinema. First Published:
