Driver dies after dump truck hits tree in Florence County, highway patrol says
FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A dump truck driver died after crashing into a tree Wednesday morning in Florence County, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.
The single-vehicle crash happened just before 9:30 a.m. on Hyman Road, according to Master Trooper Brandon Bolt. It happened about three miles west of Pamplico.
A 2020 Freightliner dump truck was traveling east on Hyman Road when it drove off the right side of the road, then the left side of the road before overcorrecting back to the right and hitting a tree, Bolt said. The driver was the only person in the truck.

ILLINOIS — Illinois State Police announced on Wednesday the deployment of a new command vehicle that will replace an 18-year-old vehicle. According to ISP, the new 2025 Freightliner will 'improve emergency response coordination, enhance safety, and provide crucial on-site support during critical incidents.' Deputies arrest Florence County residential care center employee after EMS workers find facility unstaffed
FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Florence County deputies arrested an employee of a residential care facility on Friday after EMS workers went to the facility and found no staff members on the premises, authorities said. Deputies were called at about 7 a.m. to the Above the Rest Residential Care Facility at 2385 Pamplico Highway. They were eventually able to locate an employee, who they learned had outstanding General Sessions bench warrants, the sheriff's office said. The person, whose name has not been released, was taken to the Florence County Detention Center, deputies said. Additional charges are possible, and more information is expected to be made available as the investigation continues. The sheriff's office was not able to say how many residents lived at the facility. This is a developing story. One dead in car crash in Cherokee County
CHEROKEE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – One person is reported dead following a crash in Cherokee County. The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) stated that, on June 5, troopers were called out to Boiling Springs Highway near the intersection with Grassy Pine Road, 5 miles north of Gaffney. Authorities said that at 6:14 p.m., a 2013 Ford Sedan was traveling east on Grassy Pine Road, when a 2014 Ford pickup truck hit the Sedan at the intersection. Officers said that the driver and a passenger in the Sedan were injured in the crash. The two victims were transported to Cherokee Medical Center, where the passenger succumbed to their injuries.
