Airport lounge experience set for a change

Time of India19-06-2025
NEW DELHI: Soon, you won't need to queue up to access an airport lounge. To boost lounge experience, several operators and credit card-issuing banks are planning direct business, removing aggregators on whose machine a flyer swipes their credit card to enter a lounge, reports Saurabh Sinha.
They plan to launch an app where lounge access can be booked in advance. Then the passenger just needs to swipe their card at the lounge gate and be seated in a particular area as per their credit card status. "A flyer can log in with an OTP and link all his/her credit cards. The app will check whether he/she has lounge access available and then allow them to book a lounge at the airport they are flying out of," said an official.
"For banks, lounge access is among key features of premium credit cards, but the experience at present is not good. So hard-selling premium cards using this as a USP becomes difficult. Full-service airlines are also upset that their premium passengers have to queue up in the same line with a credit card," said a source.
However, many flyers have credit cards therefore the lounge use is no longer limited to those flying full-service airlines. Operators are planning to have separate areas for premium card, business, first class flyers to offer better experience at big lounges. However, two leading lounge operators said, "Aggregators have warned us of stopping lounge entry if they are removed from the business. We are taking legal steps to prevent that.

'Expensive lawsuit incoming': Outrage erupts over Taylor Swift's deepfake scandal while Travis Kelce gets caught in the online crossfire

Taylor Swift's fans are fiercely defending her after Elon Musk's AI, Grok, allegedly created explicit deepfake videos (Getty Images) Taylor Swift's loyal fanbase is once again rallying behind her after shocking allegations emerged about Elon Musk's AI assistant, Grok, creating explicit deepfake videos of the pop star. The controversy is stirring up debates far beyond tech ethics — even drawing in conversations about her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce . Fans slam AI-generated explicit content and demand safeguard According to a recent report by The Verge's Jess Weatherbed, Grok's 'Imagine' feature on iOS allegedly produced sexualized videos of Taylor Swift after generating images from a simple prompt. The journalist described using the AI's preset 'Spicy' mode to turn still images into a video — which resulted in a disturbing, digitally fabricated scene of Swift 'tear[ing] off her clothes and begin[ning] dancing in a thong. ' While AI image tools often block explicit celebrity depictions, Weatherbed claims Grok bypassed these safeguards. Outraged Swifties took to X (formerly Twitter) to condemn the feature. One user fumed, 'You launch a 'spicy' AI mode, it makes a topless Taylor Swift deepfake in 3 seconds… and you call that 'innovation'? Nah. That's just digital rot in a $44B playground.' Another warned of the wider dangers, writing, 'Unchecked tech isn't freedom; it's a slippery slope to fake realities we can't unsee. Time to demand better safeguards before deepfakes.' Others accused Musk of lacking basic decency, with one predicting, 'I sense a huge expensive lawsuit incoming.' Why Travis Kelce's name is entering the conversation While the issue is primarily about AI misuse, some fans have begun linking it to Swift's highly publicized relationship with NFL tight end Travis Kelce. Critics argue that the rise in celebrity deepfakes disproportionately targets high-profile women — especially those in high-profile relationships — because their partners are also in the public eye. Kelce, who is no stranger to internet scrutiny thanks to his NFL career and romance with Swift, hasn't commented publicly. But some Swifties believe his protective stance toward the singer — often seen in interviews and public appearances — will likely fuel further calls for legal action and stronger tech regulations. At the heart of this journey is a skilled team comprising loco pilot and assistant traction loco controller Matin Khan, chief loco inspector RS Nemane, and assistant traction loco controller Sachin Thakre. Their 12-hour shift requires sharp focus and teamwork as they guide the train through diverse terrains and stops at Wardha, Akola, Shegaon, Bhusaval, Jalgaon, Manmad, Puntamba, Daund, and Pune.
