Great British Sewing Bee contestant forced to apologise after off-camera blunder
The Great British Sewing Bee delivered plenty of drama on Tuesday's instalment, featuring behind-the-scenes mishaps and tearjerking moments.
During the 19 August episode, contestants faced "children's week", where they were tasked with creating garments for youngsters.
The opening challenge required contestants to incorporate adaptive fashion elements whilst tackling a pattern for miniature dungarees.
Following this, the transformation round saw participants reimagining maternity clothing into toddler ensembles.
The final made-to-measure task challenged hopefuls to craft outfits inspired by their childhood career dreams, spanning everything from beekeeping to politics, reports Wales Online.
Contestant Caz had aspired to become fashion designer Zandra Rhodes, one of the 1970s' most legendary style icons.
Her tribute design featured fitted trousers and a peplum top with faux shirred detailing, completed with a coordinating beret.
Paying homage to Zandra Rhodes, she selected striking fabrics and even enlisted her young model's help in creating the print.
Watching her creation grace the runway, Caz was spotted dabbing away tears as she observed with evident pride.
During the judges' critique, an overwhelmed Caz confessed: "I was wiping away tears while my model came down the catwalk, I'm just really pleased I turned up today."
As the programme concluded, Caz found herself in floods of tears once more upon discovering she'd claimed garment of the week, exclaiming: "Wow!"
Sadly, this meant one hopeful had to bid farewell to the contest, with Dan being the unlucky contestant sent packing, leaving his fellow competitors visibly upset.
As the programme drew to a close, there were further dramatic moments to unfold. During a piece to camera with contestant Orla, who had harboured dreams of becoming a beekeeper in her youth and had crafted a themed ensemble for the task, she found herself having to make an apology following an off-screen mishap.
The hopeful was clutching a plush bee toy whilst telling viewers: "Everyone's makes were just bee-utiful. I thought it was really fun" before hurling the cuddly creature out of shot.
Unfortunately, the soft toy accidentally struck something or someone beyond the camera's view as a loud crash could be heard, prompting a startled Orla to erupt into giggles.
The Great British Sewing Bee continues on Tuesdays at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Tom Hiddleston drops major hint about The Night Manager season 2 release date
The BBC's The Night Manager is set to return for a second series, with Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as Jonathan Pine Viewers of BBC 's The Night Manager are anxiously awaiting the second series launch, and it appears the wait might soon be over. The six-episode espionage drama debuted in 2016 and became a massive success amongst television audiences. The programme draws from John le Carré 's 1993 novel bearing the identical title. Tom Hiddleston assumed the starring role of Jonathan Pine in The Night Manager, and he's set to return for both the upcoming second and third instalments. Whilst appearing on BBC's The One Show on Tuesday (19 August), Tom teased when audiences might anticipate the second season's arrival as presenters Roman Kemp and Clara Amfo shared viewer messages. Tom, joining The One Show alongside his The Life of Chuck co-stars Karen Gillan and Mark Hamill, learnt that someone had tweeted the BBC programme expressing their enthusiasm for The Night Manager, reports Wales Online. Gazing directly into the camera, the performer playfully declared over when the second series would be released: "Coming soon!" before beaming at Roman and Clara. Previously, it was revealed The Night Manager had received approval for second and third series from both the BBC and Amazon Prime Video, with Tom confirming his return to the forthcoming episodes. Additional information has remained largely confidential, though the second series will continue from where the original concluded, regardless of the considerable gap between both seasons. The Night Manager spins the tale of Jonathan, a night manager at a posh hotel in Cairo and an ex-British soldier. He's enlisted by Angela, played by Olivia Colman, who heads up a Foreign Office task force probing illicit arms sales. Angela assigns Jonathan the mission of penetrating the inner circle of arms trader Richard Roper, brought to life by Hugh Laurie. Reflecting on his return to The Night Manager for a fresh series, Tom expressed: "The first series of The Night Manager was one of the most creatively fulfilling projects I have ever worked on. The depth, range and complexity of Jonathan Pine was, and remains, a thrilling prospect. "I'm so looking forward to reuniting with Simon and Stephen Cornwell, David Farr and Stephen Garrett, and to working with Georgi Banks-Davies to tell the next chapter of our story. I can't wait."

Paddy McGuinness fumes 'why is everyone out to shaft me?' in scathing video update
Former Top Gear and Take Me Out presenter Paddy McGuinness has shared a furious update about his home improvements or lack thereof after being left unimpressed by a professional gardening job Paddy McGuinness has unleashed a furious rant at a group of builders he accused of botching his artificial lawn, branding them 'f***ing cowboys' after the once-pristine turf became overrun with weeds and discoloured patches. The 52-year-old presenter, who said the garden had looked great for 'a year or two,' revealed in a video that the surface is now littered with over 20 visible weeds, many sprouting along the borders between the turf and surrounding slabs. He also pointed out patchy, sun-faded areas and hollow sections around the edges, calling it simply: 'Job's gone wrong.' It comes after Paddy showed off his chiselled body while on holiday with ex wife Christine. According to Paddy, the problem started around five months ago and has since worsened, with the weeds spreading across most of the lawn. Frustrated, he said he tried contacting the original company but claimed they ignored his calls and emails. In the clip, clearly fed up, he said: 'Why's everyone out to shaft you? Can no one just offer a service and it be right?' He went on to appeal directly to his followers: 'Listen, if you've used a company who lay these kind of lawns and you're happy with it, let me know. "I don't want to put it down again if it's going to be screwed in another year or two and changing colour and weeds everywhere and dips in it and all that pony.' Ending his rant, Paddy added he wasn't looking for free work, just someone reliable: 'Please someone, I don't want it for nothing, do not want it for nothing, no tagging in, get in touch. "I'll pay you, do a fantastic job and be gone and let me know how to do the upkeep," he added. It's not been a great week for Paddy all round as his new show Paddy and Chris: Road Tripping, is said to have suffered the same fate after the BBC reportedly haven't renewed it after just one series, despite huge ratings from fans. Paddy and Chris Harris were back behind the wheel last year for a new show together - months after the latest version of Top Gear was axed in late 2023. The road trip show saw them travel around Europe on a quest to crack the code of ageing well (or not so disgracefully) as the pair searched for a cure to the 'mid-life crisis'. Though it had good viewing figures - with 3.2 million tuning it for the first episode on Sunday September 24, 2024 - it's not thought to be coming back for a second season. A BBC spokesperson confirmed the news and said in a statement to The Sun: "Whilst viewers can enjoy all episodes of Road Tripping on BBC iPlayer now, there are currently no plans for any new episodes at the moment."
