
Form Four student killed, another injured in Shah Alam motorcycle crash
Shah Alam police chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said initial investigations revealed the accident occurred when the two male students from SMK Seksyen 9 were riding near Ramly Halal Mart in Section 13 and allegedly lost control of the motorcycle.
"The motorcycle is believed to have struck the road divider, causing both the rider and the pillion passenger to be thrown onto the road," he said in a statement on Saturday (July 5).
The rider suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, while the pillion passenger sustained neck injuries and leg wounds. He was taken to Shah Alam Hospital for treatment.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

GOF nabs trio, seizes 75,500kg of crude palm oil
IPOH: The General Operations Force (GOF) North Brigade detained three men suspected of attempting to misappropriate 75,400kg of crude palm oil during Op Taring Palma in Taiping yesterday. Its commander SAC Shahrum Hashim said the three-hour operation also led to the seizure of two tanker lorries, one bonded lorry and three mobile phones, with an estimated total value of RM975,200. He said the team detected a suspicious tanker lorry in the area and trailed it to the side of Jalan Taiping-Bagan Serai. "Further investigation revealed that the suspects had transferred the crude palm oil from the tanker lorries to the bonded lorry. "An inspection found 10 blue drums with a capacity of 200 litres each in the bonded lorry, along with several tools used to transfer the crude palm oil," he said in a statement today. He said the suspects and the seized items were handed over to the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) Northern Region for further investigation under Regulation 5 of the MPOB (Licensing) Regulations 2005. "The Taiping Police Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division also issued two summonses to the suspects for offences under the Road Transport Act 1987," he said. – Bernama

Teenage biker killed, younger brother seriously injured in Muar collision
MUAR: A teenage motorcyclist was killed while his six-year-old brother sustained serious injuries after their motorcycle collided with a lorry here. Muar OCPD Asst Comm Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said the accident occurred when the lorry was heading from Parit Naib Kadir towards Parit Lanjut in Bukit Pasir at around 12pm on Thursday (July 17). 'When the lorry arrived at the junction, the 61-year-old driver stopped before turning right onto the main road. 'However, a motorcycle ridden by the 17-year-old, came from behind, overtook the lorry on the right and crashed into the heavy vehicle,' he said in a statement. ACP Raiz Mukhliz said the teen rider died at the scene due to severe head injuries, while his younger brother sustained serious injuries to the head and face. The boy was being treated at the Muar Hospital. The case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving, which carries a jail term of up to 10 years and a maximum fine of RM50,000.
