Now in a new rule announced by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) on June 2, 2025, Indian students planning to study in Canada will need to show more money in their bank accounts.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has rolled out a special service initiative titled the 'Awesome Toyota Service Campaign', exclusively for its customers across South India. Timed perfectly to coincide with the ongoing monsoon season, this month-long program is aimed at offering preventive maintenance and ensuring a safe and hassle-free driving experience for Toyota owners during the rainy season. In light of these conditions, Toyota's campaign is focused on preventive care to maintain optimal performance. The initiative promises timely diagnostics and special benefits tailored to enhance vehicle reliability and passenger safety. As part of the campaign, Toyota is offering a complimentary 20-point vehicle check-up, which will include essential inspections such as battery health and tyre condition—two crucial factors that directly impact safety during wet weather. The comprehensive check-up aims to identify potential issues early, helping customers avoid unexpected breakdowns. 'It's about ensuring our customers enjoy a worry-free driving experience even during challenging weather conditions,' he noted. In addition to the service benefits, Toyota is also encouraging motorists to adopt monsoon-safe driving practices. These include: Regular inspection of wiper blades, brake systems, and lights Maintaining optimal tyre pressure and tread depth Avoiding roads with standing water Keeping emergency tools like flashlights and rain gear within reach Toyota continues to offer a wide range of vehicles in the Indian market. The lineup includes robust models such as the Innova Hycross, Fortuner Legender, Hilux, and Innova Crysta, as well as luxury offerings like the Camry, Vellfire, and Land Cruiser 300. Crude ouput: OPEC+ opens oil tap wider before planned August hike, raising fears of price fall
OPEC+ will raise oil production faster than earlier planned in August, with eight key alliance members agreeing to increase output by 548,000 barrels a day, delegates said on Saturday after a virtual meeting. This is higher than the 411,000-barrel hikes announced for May, June and July, which were already triple the initial plan. Traders had anticipated the same increase for August, making the latest move a further acceleration. The Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its partners, led by Saudi Arabia, have changed course since April by prioritising market share over price control. The group has begun reviving supply that was previously cut, surprising traders and raising questions about its long-term approach. Brent crude futures have dropped 8.5% in 2025 so far due to the extra supply and concerns around demand amid President Trump's trade war and its impact on the global economy. Still, delegates said the short-term demand outlook appears stronger, especially in the northern hemisphere's summer. US refiners are processing the most crude for this time of year since 2019, and diesel prices have surged. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Scientists: Tinnitus? When tinnitus won't go away, do this (Watch) Hearing Magazine Undo Different reasons have been cited for the sudden shift in strategy—from meeting summer fuel demand to penalising over-producing members and regaining lost market share from US shale drillers. Officials said Saudi Arabia is keen to restart idle capacity quickly. The larger August hike puts OPEC+ on track to return 2.2 million barrels a day of halted production by September, a full year ahead of the original timeline. Live Events 'With OPEC+ having pivoted to a market share over a price defence strategy, it was pointless to keep a notional voluntary cut in place,' said Harry Tchilinguirian, group head of research at Onyx Capital Group. 'It was best to get it over and done with it, and simply move on.' However, the actual increase may be smaller. The group has repeatedly failed to hit announced targets, as Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman urges some members to make up for past oversupply. Kazakhstan, which has regularly exceeded its quota, continues to produce significantly above its assigned levels. Traders had mostly expected another 411,000-barrel daily hike for August, according to a Bloomberg survey. Initial talks among delegates also leaned in that direction. The additional barrels may please President Trump, who has pushed for lower oil prices to support the US economy and wants the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates. But the increase also risks worsening a supply surplus. Oil inventories are growing by around 1 million barrels a day as China's demand weakens and production rises across the US, Guyana, Canada and Brazil. According to the International Energy Agency in Paris, markets are likely to face a major surplus later this year. Banks like JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs predict prices could fall towards $60 a barrel or lower by the fourth quarter. Prices had jumped during last month's conflict between Iran and Israel but quickly fell again once it was clear that oil supply was not affected. Saudi Arabia now faces the challenge of balancing higher export volumes with the impact of falling prices. The kingdom is already dealing with a ballooning budget deficit and has had to cut spending on Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's major projects. Meanwhile, OPEC+ co-leader Russia is grappling with a worsening economic outlook and the threat of a banking crisis, as President Vladimir Putin's war against Ukraine continues to drain resources. Falling prices are also affecting US shale producers . A recent survey of US shale executives showed they now expect to drill far fewer wells than they had planned at the start of 2025, citing weaker oil prices and uncertainty due to Trump's tariff policies. 'India Negotiates Based On National Interest, Not Deadlines': Piyush Goyal On India-US Trade Talks
Last Updated: 'This is not a weak India under Congress and UPA which would negotiate and make agreements which are not in national interest,' says Piyush Goyal on US-India trade pact. India-US Trade Talks: Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said India does not negotiate trade deals based on deadlines, but rather conducts discussions keeping in mind national interests. He added that this is not a weak India under the Congress and the UPA which would negotiate and make agreements which are not in national interest. 'India does not negotiate under deadlines, we negotiate keeping national interest in mind. National interest is paramount in all our work across the world. This is not a weak India under Congress and UPA which would negotiate and make agreements which are not in national interest," said Goyal on the US-India trade pact while addressing reporters. — Press Trust of India (@PTI_News) July 5, 2025 The comments come amid reports that India and the US are close to finalising an interim trade agreement ahead of a key deadline — July 9, which marks the end of the 90-day suspension of reciprocal tariffs announced by former US President Donald Trump. Under that move, the US had imposed an additional 26% import duty on several Indian goods, which remains suspended temporarily. According to a report by news agency PTI, citing an official, there is still a possibility that the deal could be announced before the July 9 deadline. An Indian delegation, led by Rajesh Agrawal, special secretary in the Department of Commerce, returned from Washington earlier this week after several days of negotiations between June 26 and July 2. The two countries are looking to finalise the first tranche of the proposed bilateral trade agreement (BTA) by September–October this year. The full pact is part of a broader plan to boost bilateral trade to $500 billion by 2030, up from the current $191 billion. What India and the US Want The US is seeking duty cuts on a range of industrial goods, including automobiles (especially electric vehicles), wines, and petrochemicals. In the agriculture sector, the US is seeking duty concessions on products like dairy items, apples, tree nuts, and genetically modified crops. On the other hand, India is pushing for better market access for labour-intensive sectors, such as textiles, gems and jewellery, leather, garments, plastics, chemicals, shrimp, oilseeds, grapes, and bananas. Both sides have indicated that negotiations are progressing, but consensus on core issues will be required before any formal pact can be signed. Agriculture a Sticky Point One of the most sensitive issues in the talks is the US demand for duty concessions on agricultural products, including dairy, apples, tree nuts, and genetically modified crops. India has held firm on its position that trade pacts must be mutually beneficial. India has so far not opened up its dairy sector in any of its free trade agreements. Auto Sector Concerns and WTO Dispute India has also raised objections to high US tariffs on steel, aluminium, and automobiles. Specifically, Washington has imposed a 25% duty on passenger vehicles and parts from India, which came into effect on May 3, 2025, and remains open-ended. India has filed a formal communication at the World Trade Organization (WTO), asserting its right to impose retaliatory tariffs in response. India's share in the US auto parts import market remains small, with just $2.2 billion in exports compared to Mexico's $36 billion and China's $10.1 billion. Bilateral Trade on the Rise Despite ongoing tariff tensions, trade between India and the US continues to grow. During the first two months of the current fiscal year, India's merchandise exports to the US rose 21.78% to $17.25 billion, while imports climbed 25.8% to $8.87 billion, official data shows. Meanwhile, the US has stated that it is preparing to issue notices to countries with which it has not concluded any trade agreement, warning of possible unilateral tariff hikes. Apart from the US, India is also negotiating free trade agreements (FTAs) with different countries, including the European Union, New Zealand, Oman, the US, Chile, and Peru. FTAs are possible only when both sides get benefitted and it should be a win-win agreement, Goyal has said.
