The story kicks off with two completely mismatched armoured truck drivers, Russell (Eddie) and Travis (Pete). They're just going about what seems like a boring, routine cash pickup job. But their day takes a wild turn when a clever and dangerous crew of thieves led by Zoe (Keke) ambushes them. What starts as a simple job turns into a high-stakes cat-and-mouse game full of unexpected twists.
Meet the cast and crew of The Pickup
The Pickup is directed by Tim Story, who's no stranger to mixing action with comedy. He's the guy behind hits like Barbershop and Ride Along, and he brings that same high-energy, slick direction here. The script comes from Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider. Oh, and yes, Eddie Murphy also steps in as one of the producers, along with Tim Story himself and a few others.
Now, this isn't a two-man show. The film has a pretty loaded cast. Apart from Murphy, Davidson, and Palmer, you've got Eva Longoria, Jack Kesy, NFL legend Marshawn Lynch, WWE superstar Roman Reigns (a.k.a. Joe Anoa'i), Andrew Dice Clay, and Ismael Cruz Córdova.
Filming mostly took place in Atlanta, but the shoot didn't go without a hiccup. There was a scary moment during a second-unit action sequence involving an armoured truck and a car crash, which left a few crew members injured. Thankfully, none of the main cast was involved, and the team took immediate steps to address safety on set after the incident.
