
SLBC to hold spl drives across 4,345 panchayats in state
Santosh Kumar Sinha, deputy general manager (DGM) of SLBC, said a statewide campaign in this regard has started from July 1 and would continue till September 30. "Camps were held in 768 panchayats as on Sunday," he said.
The DGM said that the camps are being organized to open new accounts under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna, enrol people under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojna, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojna and Atal Pension Yojana.
The banks are conducting a rerun of Know Your Customer (KYC) process for the inoperative accounts and spreading awareness against cybercrime. The claims related to insurance are also being settled in the camps.
The SLBC has issued instructions to all the banks and the lead district managers to carry out extensive awareness about the bank programme and reach out all the gram panchayats.
The SLBC is appealing to the people to take part in the special campaign in order to benefit from the government schemes. The drive would also enable eligible people get the benefits of government's social welfare scheme like the Maiyyan Samman Yojana, he added.

District authorities conduct financial literacy camp in Thane
Agency: PTI Thane, Aug 17 (PTI) A financial literacy camp was held in Maharashtra's Thane district as part of the administration's ongoing campaign to create awareness among citizens in rural areas about social security schemes and prevention of fraud, an official said on Sunday. On the directions of the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), a special financial literacy campaign is being implemented in all gram panchayats of the district from July 1 to September 30, the official said. As part of this initiative, a camp was organised at Asangaon in Shahapur taluka on August 13, he said. Rising gross figures of NPA a worry for banks
Ranchi: The rising gross figures of non-performing assets (NPA) of banks continue to be a matter of concern even as the percentage has reduced in the first quarter of the current financial year, revealed the recently released state level banker's committee (SLBC) report. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "The NPA was Rs 7,359 crore against advances of Rs 1,12,052 crore on June 30, 2023, Rs 7,449 crore against advances of Rs 1,33,780 crore on June 30, 2024, and Rs 7,801 crore against advances of Rs 1,53,658 crore on June 30, 2025," it said. The SLBC report stated, "The NPA figures remain above the Rs 7,000 crore mark. Its rising numbers could have a negative impact on financial status of banks including profits, liquidity and capital adequacy." The SLBC report also raised concerned over the large number of pending cases related to NPAs. A total of 48,496 certificate cases amounting to Rs 1,506 crore and 3,516 debt recovery tribunal cases amounting to Rs 2,407 crore are pending. A total of 580 requests sent to the district administrations under securitisation and reconstruction of financial estates and enforcement of securities interest are pending. Finance minister Radha Krishana Kishore directed bankers to sort the high number of pending certificates cases. The NPA was 6.57% on June 30, 2023, 5.57%on June 30, 2024, and 5.08% on June 30 2025. CO Bank, Bank of India, and Punjab and Sind Bank have the highest NPAs.

RBI enhancing customer safety: Executive Director
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Executive Director R. Lakshmi Kanth Rao on Thursday said the central bank was implementing a slew of measures to enhance customer safety in financial system and stressed the need to spread awareness about the same. Speaking at a programme tiled 'Financial Inclusion Saturation Campaign', organised by the Union Bank of India (UBI), State Bank of India (SBI), Canara Bank, Bank of India (BoI) and Andhra Pradesh Grameena Bank here under the aegis of the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Mr. Lakshmi Kanth Rao advised bank account holders to complete their KYC. Bank accounts inactive for a long time have to undergo a re-KYC to revive them. State-Level Bankers' Committee (SLBC) convener C.V.N. Bhaskar Rao explained salient features of schemes such as Atal Pension Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, and free RuPay debit cards. He further said banking services were made easily accessible in the rural areas through Bank Mitras. RBI Regional Director A.O. Basheer, General Manager (GM) R.K. Mahana, Canara Bank GM C.J. Vijayalakshmi, UBI Regional Head M.V.
