Did White Lotus star Lisa Manobal really wear Rosa Parks embroidered on her Met Gala outfit?
This year's Met Gala saw another event full of stunning outfits, bold designs, and, of course, some questionable choices.
One star who raised eyebrows at the event was K-pop singer Lisa Manobal, who recently appeared in The White Lotus, wearing a lace Louis Vuitton bodysuit embroidered with a collage of different faces, including one that appeared to look like the civil rights activist Rosa Parks.
The theme for Monday night's event was inspired by The Metropolitan Museum of Art's forthcoming spring exhibition, 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style', which focuses on menswear and suit tailoring, with an emphasis on Black dandyism.
The dress code, titled 'Tailored For You,' was chosen to encourage individual expression, inviting guests to dress in a way that felt authentic to them.

Manobal, who is part of the colossal K-pop group Blackpink, wore the bodysuit under an embroidered jacket, accessorised with LV logo tights and a monogrammed handbag. The embroidered pattern in the lace appears throughout the jacket and bodysuit in different places, but is most visible on the crotch area.
Some people, believing the face to be that of Parks, have called it 'disrespectful' due to the placement of the face on the lower part of the bodysuit.
A representative for Louis Vuitton has told The Cut that the print was created by American artist Henry Taylor and depicts 'portraits of figures who have been a part of the artist's life'.

The motif was originally commissioned by creative director Pharrell Williams for his debut spring 2024 collection for Louis Vuitton. However, it has not been confirmed who the people in the collage are.

The Independent has contacted the label and Manobal's representatives to confirm.
The lack of explanation behind the outfit hasn't stopped onlookers from calling the apparent use of Parks's portrait 'distasteful'
'Whoever dresses Lisa tonight hates her,' wrote one person on X/Twitter. 'Why put Rosa Parks on her ass and crouch? A night celebrating black excellence, putting a civil rights icon on your booty?'

Another person added: 'NO BC WHAT DO YOU MEAN BLACKPINK LISA HAS ROSA PARKS EMBROIDERED ON HER UNDERWEAR?'

'WHO THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA????? Mind you not only is it highly distasteful how is this on theme?' said another.
Elsewhere at this year's Met Gala, Diana Ross captivated the red carpet after a 22-year hiatus and Rihanna revealed that she is pregnant with her third child as she prepared to arrive at the event.
The 'Shut Up and Drive' singer arrived at the event wearing a black cropped woollen jacket, a wool bustier bodysuit, a black pinstripe wool tailored skirt with a bustle, a polka dot satin cravat and an oversized floppy hat, all by Marc Jacobs.
Manobal wasn't the only one facing criticism for her outfit. Shakira, who wore an eye-catching bubblegum pink gown with a sweeping train that cascaded down the museum's steps, was called out for not paying attention to the theme.

'Beautiful…but not on theme whatsoever,' one person wrote on Instagram in response to the outfit, while another critic dubbed the gown 'ridiculous'.

Additional commenters added that Shakira had 'missed the assignment', with one person joking her pink dress reminded them of Glinda from the stage musical and recent Hollywood film Wicked.

Kelly Clarkson Just Cut Her Hair Into a Short Swishy Bob
NBC/Getty Images Kelly Clarkson has officially joined the bob club. The singer and host of her eponymous talk show showed off her new haircut in a clip shared by The Voice on Instagram July 22. In the clip, she, alongside longtime coaches Adam Levine and John Legend, share that they will be returning for season 29 of the show, which will premiere in spring 2026. Fans welcomed Clarkson back with open arms, with many sharing in the comments how thrilled they are that she's making her return. But despite the big news that she'd be back for another season, we couldn't help but notice her much-shorter haircut in this new clip. Though Clarkson has favored longer locks in recent years, it looks like she decided to take the plunge and embrace the bob. We get a quick glimpse at the hair transformation, but from the looks of it, she's opted for a side swept shoulder-length classic bob with some texture and waves throughout. She traded in her long, elbow-length blonde tresses and bangs for this much shorter, nearly bronde bob. And Clarkson isn't the only talk show host to lean into the bob recently. On her show, Today with Jenna & Friends, Jenna Bush Hager got a bob haircut live on TV, courtesy of celebrity hairstylist Chris McMillan (he also cut Leslie Bibb's now-famous 'c-nty little bob' for her role on The White Lotus). While McMillan cut her hair, Hager exclaimed, 'that's so short!' and honestly, she's not wrong. Bob haircuts are short styles, usually with the hair falling somewhere between the ear and the chin. There are tons of bobs to choose from, depending on how much length or texture you're looking for. For example, French bobs tend to be on the shorter side with a little bit of texture, while a classic bob is usually cut right at the nape of the neck and blunt. If you're more comfortable with a slightly longer bob, the shoulder-length lob is cut between your chin and collarbone. 'Bobs vary in length and can be longer depending on the desired look,' says hairstylist Laurabeth Cabott. 'Deciding whether you want a more chic style or something that you're able to play around with and style differently from day to day can help you determine what length to cut your bob.' 42 Bob Haircut Ideas to Try in 2025 The good news is that a bob will complement anyone. 'A classic bob haircut, where the length falls between the chin and shoulders, can look great on any face shape,' says celebrity hairstylist Jennifer Korab. 'A bob can be customized with different lengths and textures to suit your individual style.' With her duties as a coach for The Voice and a daytime talk show host, Kelly Clarkson is also currently in Las Vegas for a residency until late 2025. We can't wait to get another look at the singer's new bob during her next show. Catharine Malzahn is the contributing associate beauty editor at Glamour. The exhibition has already traveled across the United States beginning in Newport, Rhode Island and traveling across the South and Southwest. The Elephants are also a fundraising project — supporting conservation and the coexistence of animals and humans — you can make a donation here, or you can purchase an elephant (it takes four to six months for your elephant to be carved), and each elephant is twinned with an NGO such as Save the Elephants and the International Wildlife Coexistence Network. Among the carved elephant migration project supporters who are listed as 'matriarchs' on their site are Wallis Annenberg, Cher, Diane Von Furstenberg, and (coincidentally) Ann Philbin. Photo: Kerry McFate © David Zwirner/ Courtesy of the Estate of Noah Davis and David Zwirner. Noah Davis, who died of cancer at 32, was an artist whose work on view at the Hammer we can see evolving before our eyes. Like Jack Whitten, Davis was a restless creative spirit who was always exploring the meaning of Art and how to link Black Artists to their community (he had a series called 'the missing link'). Davis in his work pursued a number of themes and idea. He has a series that was influenced by Ancient Egyptian myth and history. His work is rich in figures from everyday life, recalling artists from Leon Kossoff to Amy Sherald. As his style changes so does the emotional content of the work. One series portrays family life. Another, a series called 1975, is based on a roll of film that his mother shot in that year, and that he discovered undeveloped and that inspired him to see the world through her point of view. In 2012, Davis and his wife artist Karon Davis, founded the Underground Museum (UM) in LA , that was meant to make accessible how people approached and bought art. At the Hammer Museum beautiful benches made by UM supporter Lianne Barnes for UM are installed in each room as part of the Hammer exhibition. At the Hammer there is a room based on one UM's shows called Imitation of Wealth, where Davis appropriates work made by Jeff Koons, Dan Flavin and Duchamp by creating simulacrums of their work, as a commentary on how the artworld can create value in the everyday and also as a commentary on what is and is not allowed to Black artists artistically and commercially. Noah Davis at work, Los Angeles, 2009, Photo by Patrick O'Brien-Smith The exhibition also features a series of drawings, sketches, and collages Davis made in a notebook as he was having chemo. His creativity is as evident as is the race against time which he faced and lost. In the Hammer exhibition, we are seeing the work of a young artist so full of talent and creativity. We will never know what may have been, but at the Hammer we can appreciate all that Noah Davis did create.
