Saturday Kitchen suddenly paused as Matt Tebbutt makes huge announcement
Saturday Kitchen star Matt Tebbutt made a surprise pregnancy announcement to viewers on the hit BBC show this morning, as he revealed that his co-star is expecting a baby
Saturday Kitchen was brought to a brief halt by host Matt Tebbutt as he shared some exciting baby news this morning. The popular programme was paused on Saturday, May 24 when the main man Matt made an announcement to viewers.
Matt, 51, revealed that his television co-star and fellow chef Sophie Wyburd, 31, is pregnant. Joined by Anita Rani and chefs Scott Hollsworth and Sophie, Matt stopped the show to make the announcement. He said: "Er Sophie, first of all, congratulations. Sophie's pregnant!"
The studio then burst into applause, with delighted faces seen all around. Matt then commented on Sophie's bump, saying: "You can just about see it. " Sophie smiled and responded: "Just about!"
When asked if she had felt the baby kick yet, she replied: "First little punch yesterday, so I'll see if they'll send you a punch later."
Sophie, who is a chef, regularly appears on the show to demonstrate her simple recipes. The London-based chef announced her pregnancy news on Instagram prior to today's show. She posted a photo four days ago where she posed on a mountain top, surrounded by trees and greenery.
Dressed in black cycling shorts and a grey t-shirt, Sophie beamed as she cradled her growing bump. In the caption she wrote: "Sausage Pasta Wyburd-Kumar, growing steadily in my tummy and landing with us this autumn!!"
Sophie added: "P.S. writing recipes for a living when for 3 months all you want to eat is spinach and ricotta tortellini is no joke, but the little person in there will be very much worth it I'm sure. The person in there will be very much worth it I'm sure."
The chef also shared some of her more unusual first trimester pregnancy cravings on social media including marmite and "frozen beige potato products".
Fans and friends were quick to shower Sophie with lovely messages in the comments section. Fellow chef Alfie Steiner exclaimed: "Oh em geeee contractions!!!! They are going to be eating THE best food."
Another chimed in: "The best news!!! Congratulations lovely". Another follower then wrote: "You be growing ur own lil tortellini in there!!! congrats MAMAAAAAAA." While another added: "Congratulations - this baby is gonna get the best weaning." And another commented: "Cuteeeestttt bump."
Sophie, who hails from London, is popular for her simple recipes on the show and online.
This comes following Matt's chat with The Staff Canteen podcast, where he hinted at the potential end of Saturday Kitchen, sparking rumours about his future career moves. He suggested that he might return to working in kitchens, leading to speculation that he could be stepping into Greg Wallace's shoes on Masterchef.
"It's going to stop at some point," he admitted. "I'm going to have to do something."
An insider revealed to The Sun: "Matt rose to the challenge of coming into Saturday Kitchen after it was previously hosted by another big name in the world of food, James Martin. He managed the feat of making it his own and almost making viewers forget who his predecessor was. Now Beeb bosses, and the show producers Banijay, will be hoping he can work the same magic on MasterChef."

Conspiracy theorists share bizarre claims over Meghan Markle's twerking video saying baby bump is FAKE and it wasn't filmed inside hospital
Social media conspiracy theorists have weaponised Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's twerking hospital video to spread wild and groundless speculation that she wasn't pregnant at all and was wearing a 'moonbump '. A group of Twitter critics of the Sussexes have even made the extraordinary claim that the dancing video was faked and made on a film set - or could be AI-generated. Meghan Markle yesterday posted a video of her and Prince Harry twerking in a hospital room in an attempt to induce Lilibet's birth. The Duchess of Sussex shared the throwback clip on her Instagram to mark her daughter's fourth birthday saying 'there was only one thing left to do' when the princess was overdue and spicy food, walking and acupuncture failed to kickstart labour. But conspiracy theorists have pored over the film in order to make wild and even unhinged claims about her including that her pregnancy was faked and she wore a prosthetic fake pregnant belly known as a 'moonbump'. Several claimed, without credible evidence, that her bump was too high or the wrong shape to be real. Others said her ability to dance that way at nine months meant she was either 'superhuman' or not pregnant at all. Others have sought to back the incredible and baseless claim that the Sussexes used a surrogate by claiming the equipment in the background suggested it was not on a labour ward. Trolls have also claimed that Meghan would have been wearing a gown and would have had her jewellery removed. Others have questioned why she wasn't hooked up to an IV drip containing induction medication. One person claiming to be a nurse said that she should have had a canula in her hand. Another alleged that she would not have one fitted while in her own clothes. Some Twitter users crudely marked the pictures with what they considered inaccuracies, using child-like scribbles. MailOnline has asked a spokesman for the Sussexes to comment. The video has sparked baseless claims on social media that it was faked The video has sparked a social media frenzy. In it, Harry is seen coming into view of the camera as Starrkeisha's viral Baby Mama song begins to play. A heavily pregnant Meghan then starts twerking in front of a hospital bed before she gyrates around the room. 'Four years ago today, this also happened. Both of our children were a week past their due dates… so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn't work - there was only one thing left to do!,' Meghan wrote on her Instagram. The Baby Mama dance was a social media craze in 2018 with celebs Shay Mitchell, and Chloe and Lauryn Goodman all previously posting videos of themselves taking part in the trend. Meghan had earlier shared two previously unseen photos of Lilibet with Harry. One of the pictures showed the Duke of Sussex holding his daughter's hand as they walked along a sandy road barefoot in the sunshine, while he held his shoes and a cap. The other image was of Harry holding Lilibet as a baby while they looked at each other. Meghan wrote in a post accompanying the pictures: 'The sweetest bond to watch unfold. Daddy's little girl and favorite adventurer. Happy birthday Lili!' The post was made at 7.40am California time (3.40pm UK), just under eight hours after Meghan earlier posted two other intimate family photos of her with Lilibet. In that post, the Duchess shared a black-and-white snap of herself cuddling Lili, who was sat on her lap, with the pair both sporting windswept hair, seemingly on a boat. The second image in the first post showed Meghan tenderly cradling newborn Lilibet as she enjoyed skin-to-skin time with the new addition to her family in 2021. Meghan wrote in the first post: 'Happy birthday to our beautiful girl! Four years ago today she came into our lives - and each day is brighter and better because of it. 'Thanks to all of those sending love and celebrating her special day!' The duchess usually only shares photos of her daughter pictured from behind to protect her privacy. But in the more recent photo, Lili's eyes and the top half of her face could be seen, with her nose and mouth and the rest of her face covered by Meghan's arms as she hugged the princess. Lili - the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's youngest child - was born on June 4 2021 and was named Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. She only became entitled to be a princess when her grandfather the King acceded to the throne, because of rules set out by King George V in 1917. Harry and Meghan started using prince and princess for Archie and Lili after the princess's christening in 2023, following correspondence with Charles about the matter. Yesterday, Meghan expressed her dream of launching a future business with Lili as she chatted to Beyonce's mother Tina Knowles on her podcast. 'I wonder if one day I'll be in business with Lili and we'll be building something,' the duchess said, with Knowles adding: 'That's the best.' Last week, the Duchess shared a clip of her and her daughter beekeeping in matching protective suits, writing: 'Harvesting honey with my little honey. (Like mother, like daughter; she's even wearing my gloves).' Lilibet is named after her great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II. Princess Elizabeth had difficultly pronouncing her own name as a toddler and her grandfather George V would affectionately call her Lilibet, imitating her own attempts to say Elizabeth. The sweet nickname stuck and she became known as Lilibet to her family from then on. But the late Queen was reportedly 'as angry as I'd ever seen her ' after Harry and Meghan claimed they had her blessing to use the name for their daughter Lilibet, a royal aide said. Royal author Robert Hardman, in his biography of the King, told how a member of staff recounted Elizabeth II's fury following Harry and Meghan's announcement in 2021 over the use of her childhood family nickname. The BBC later reported a Palace source said the Queen was not asked by the Sussexes whether they could use Lilibet. But the Sussexes' lawyers fired off legal letters to the broadcaster and other publishers, saying the claim was false and defamatory. A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan insisted at the time that the duke spoke to his grandmother in advance and would not have used the name had the monarch not been supportive. Hardman wrote however: 'One privately recalled that Elizabeth II had been 'as angry as I'd ever seen her' in 2021 after the Sussexes announced that she had given them her blessing to call their baby daughter 'Lilibet', the Queen's childhood nickname.'

Glasgow artist reimagining energy systems at Tramway
Torpor, a new exhibition by Glasgow-based artist Sarah Rose, is on display at Tramway, the international art space in the city's South Side. The exhibition brings together sculpture, sound, and installation to explore ecological and environmental themes. Its title, Torpor, refers to a state of dormancy that some animals enter during periods of extreme heat or resource scarcity. Read more: Glasgow artist unveils nine vibrant portraits at iconic venue Sarah uses industrial by-products, waste materials, and found objects in her work, transforming them into thought-provoking artworks. The exhibition strives to pose the question: 'What might a feminist energy system look like?' It draws on histories of resistance, such as the Pollok Free State and the co-operative wind turbine in New York, as well as ongoing research into alternative energy infrastructures and interspecies collaboration. The Orkney Islands have also been a key source of inspiration for the artist, particularly after a research trip to the European Marine Energy Centre, which focuses on wave and tidal power. Read more: Joan Eardley sketches of Glasgow street kids to be auctioned Sarah harnesses solar energy to power kinetic sculptures and prototype animal habitats. Among the works are a maternity box for bats and glass insulators from electricity pylons transformed into moth-friendly bird feeders. This work invites visitors to reflect on energy conservation and resistance to constant productivity. The exhibition is supported by The Foundation Foundation, Creative Scotland, and Polysolar. Opening hours are Wednesday to Friday from noon to 5pm, Saturday from noon to 6pm, and Sunday from noon to 5pm.

Actor from Netflix's The Crown is convicted FRAUDSTER who stole £20k, lied about being military hero & wore fake medals
AN actor who appeared in The Crown has been accused of stolen valour after posing as an officer in the Army reserves. James Yeates, 42, even attended an Honourable Artillery Company dinner in full Intelligence Corps mess dress. 5 5 Pictures showed him wearing three medals - the Queen's Diamond, Platinum Jubilee and King's Coronation medals - at the swanky do. Other online photos saw him posing in Intelligence Corps fatigues. But the convicted fraudster was exposed after veterans launched an investigation following a tip-off. In reality, the actor had never served a day of his life in the army. Instead, he had purchased the medals on eBay. In an online profile he boasted: "I'm a fully trained, enthusiastic and versatile actor, l'm also a current serving officer in the British armed forces (reserves)." When The Sun confronted him he hastily amended the bio to read: "I'm a fully trained, enthusiastic and versatile actor." On another site, Backstage, he wrote: "Alongside being a professionally trained and working actor, I am also a current serving officer in the British Armed Forces (reserves)." His email auto-signature also read: "Major James Yeates, Co-Founder, Military and Aviation Advisors." But veterans say there is no record of him ever serving in the reserves and no mention of him in the London Gazette which lists every officers' commissions. Extra Yeates, who posted photographs of himself on the set of the Crown in 2018 and 2019, suggested the picture of him at the mess dinner was from a film set. But furious guests who also attended in March 2024 said an internal investigation was now underway to find out who invited him and whether he was vetted. Yeates also claimed his firm, Military and Aviation Advisors, had worked on the film, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, but there is no record showing their involvement. The Walter Mitty Hunters Club, who led the investigation, is now calling for a new law, the Stolen Valour Act, to make it a criminal offence. A spokesman said: "The sole reason we exist is because of people like Yeates. "If there were ever a strong reason for a stolen valour act, this is a prime example. "Yeates clearly has a well documented history for dishonesty, going by his past endeavours, and the undeniable evidence trail. "But to impersonate a serving Major in the Intelligence Corps, regular or reserve. "Wearing the uniform, rank, and medals, which Yeates has not earned, and taking in genuine veterans, and those still serving, when he had never even stepped foot in a training establishment or served one day in the armed forces is a step too far. "His deliberate actions are disrespectful to the service community and to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the service to the crown." 5 5 5 Yeates, of Dorking, Surrey, escaped jail in 2006 after he took more than £20,000 from customers' bank accounts after his business collapsed. He blew £22,650 within three days and later admitted using criminal property and transferring criminal property at Guildford Crown Court. A previous indictment of 30 counts relating to theft was left on file. He was later jailed for 12 months in May 2015 for fraud after spending £7,700 on a credit card that did not belong to him. He bought first class flights to Los Angeles to shoot a video which he hoped would encourage talent to join his YouTube network Jey Management. Last night, Yeates told The Sun: "Some comments I've made in the past may have been misunderstood or taken out of context. "My focus has always been on working professionally and in good faith. " He added: "At no point have I intentionally misled anyone, nor have I attempted to benefit professionally from any misrepresentation."
