He said police alone can't wipe out the evil of drug abuse and needs the support of everyone in the society to end the menace for the better future of the youth. Instead of keeping away drug addicts and look at them with contempt, people should be compassionate towards them and should find out the reason for drug abuse, he suggested.
He further said that family members also should approach drug addicts with love and affection to get them out of the addiction. Teachers also on their part must keep a watch on students to notice any abnormal behaviour and alert parents.
Stating that drug usage starts as fun in the beginning but later it shatters their life, and in many cases youth turn to drugs due to failure in studies, the SP appealed to people to stop looking at drug addicts as criminals and show a humane approach that would go a long way in bailing them out of drug addiction. The district police intensified enforcement against drug sales and abuses.
Drone cameras were also introduced to identify the shadow zones where drug supply and sales are going on and also desolated places, where drug abuse is more.
Later in the evening, an awareness rally from RDO office to MR Palli Dandi circle was held with students of various colleges participating holding placards and banners.
District Collector Dr S Venkateswar, MLA Arani Srinivasulu and others also participated in the rally.
In Chittoor, International Day of Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed on Thursday. Marking the occasion, a meeting and rally was held. District Collector Sumit Kumar and SP Manikanta Chandolu, who participated in the meeting, stressed on concerted efforts to check drug abuse. Expressing concern on more and more youth falling prey to drug abuse, they emphasised on creating awareness among youth to remain away from drug abuse.

2 govt officials among 5 booked for misappropriating funds
Pilibhit: An FIR has been lodged against a panchayat secretary, a village development officer, the woman pradhan of Harkishanpur village, her husband and a woman rozgar sevak (contractual worker under MGNREGA scheme) for their alleged involvement in fraudulent transactions from the village development fund. The FIR was registered at Neuria police station on Monday evening following the order of the chief judicial magistrate. The complainant, Raju Lal (59), a resident of the same village, said he and other locals first reported the misappropriation of funds to the district magistrate in Nov last year. Following their complaint, district panchayat raj adhikari conducted an inquiry, which was completed around May this year, and confirmed financial irregularities worth Rs 1,32,165 in the excavation of two village ponds. Haryana Police book 10 social media operators in teacher's death case
Chandigarh: Haryana Police have served notice to 10 social media account operators for allegedly spreading false news on social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook and YouTube in the death case of a playschool teacher. An official spokesperson said that the police have also registered FIRs against social media account operators for publishing inflammatory, false and misleading information on social media accounts. These social media accounts run reports and news without any official confirmation. The account operators are also facing criminal charges for publishing inflammatory posts, false news and misleading information without verification, uploading videos, and thereby disturbing law and order in the district, the spokesperson said. Opposition parties and social activists gathered at Bhiwani's Dhigawa village on Sunday, where family members of a 19-year-old play school teacher have been protesting. 78 petitions received in PGRS by police
Nellore: The Nellore police received 78 complaints on various issues during the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS) held at Umeshchandra Conference Hall on Monday. A couple from Podalakuru mandal submitted a petition to SP G Krishna Kanth, alleging that three individuals — Madhuri, Chetan, and Venkateswarlu — defrauded them of Rs 3,40,000 by promising a software job in Bangalore. The couple urged the SP to take action against the trio and help recover their money. In another case, a woman from Vedayapalem in Nellore city reported that Durgabhavani, a 22-year-old from Atmakur town, befriended her 15-year-old son on Instagram, abducted him, and married him. She requested the SP's intervention to ensure justice. A woman from Muthukur mandal appealed for a reinvestigation into the suspicious death of her son. Further, a 25-year-old woman from Udayagiri alleged that a man from her town, who promised marriage, is now refusing to marry her and threatening to post her photos on social media. Addressing the gathering, SP Krishna Kanth urged the public to stay vigilant against cyber fraudsters and anti-social elements who employ deceptive tactics to exploit vulnerable individuals.
