Kudumbashree farmers to go hi-tech with K-TAP
The programme will also help improve production, value-added product manufacturing, processing and marketing, and achieving progress in all areas of agriculture. For this, a centralised technology repository, with over 180 new technologies, has been prepared in collaboration with renowned agricultural technology research institutes in the country.
'This is the first time that Kudumbashree has acquired so many technologies for modernisation of the agricultural sector and empowerment of women farmers. The new project will change the face of agricultural activities currently being implemented through Kudumbashree,' said an official.
Currently, around 4.3 lakh women are cultivating rice, banana, various vegetables and fruits in 92,442 farmer groups under the Kudumbashree across the state. In addition, producer groups, agricultural enterprises, farmer producer companies and integrated farming clusters are also functioning.
Kudumbashree will provide assistance to those working in the agricultural sector to strengthen their livelihood activities through the new technology bank. Entrepreneurs currently doing good agriculture and related businesses have been identified for the same. They will be trained in collaboration with leading agricultural research and technology institutions in the country, paving the way for them to increase their income.
A big leap is also expected in areas such as processing of agricultural products, value addition of small grains, coconut products, and eco-friendly packaging. Technology will also be used to innovate organic production methods, smart farming, packing, branding, and licensing. This will enhance expansion of existing enterprises and increase in income. The project also includes a plan to overcome all the limitations currently faced in product marketing.

US company contributes to IIT-K new ward
Kanpur: Co-founders of Opalescent IT Solutions Inc, a US-based company, Manoj Gupta and Neeraj Gupta, contributed funds for an eight-bed ward for economically weaker section patients at the upcoming Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology (GSMST), Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, through the IIT-K Foundation, a US-based non-profit organisation. The contribution has been made as tribute to their father, late MC Gupta, who served as Superintendent at IIT-K from 1961 to 1997 as well as to underscore the family's enduring connection to the institute. K-RERA allows flat-owners to takeover apartments under construction
Kochi: In a landmark decision, Kerala Real Estate Regulatory Authority (K-RERA) has issued an order allowing a flat allottees association to take over an under-construction apartment complex from the promoter. K-RERA granted takeover of the nine-storey apartment complex in Angamaly by exercising its special powers under the Real Estate Regulation and Development Act, 2016. MIR CINTRA in Angamaly, the registered association of allottees of the real estate project, approached K-RERA against the promoter of MIR Builders and Developers Pvt Ltd, which failed to hand over the flats to the beneficiaries. The complainants pointed out that although Rs 15.06 crore were collected from the allottees, the promoters did not even complete the structural works of the building. Although K-RERA ordered the promoters to complete the project in a time-bound manner, and despite the extension of registration, the promoter was unable to complete the project. Later, the promoter, in an affidavit, admitted that they were not in a good financial position even to pay compensation. Furthermore, the promoter also consented to hand over the project to the flat allottees association. The order, based on the suo motu proceedings initiated in July last year, states, "The association may be allowed to take over the project MIR Cintra and carry out all remaining construction works, not limited to the construction of apartments and common amenities. The association may be permitted to register as the promoter of the project and be exempted from payment of any registration fees. The existing joint venture agreement (JVA) entered into between the promoter and the landowners may be cancelled and annulled, and landowners may be directed to enter into a JVA with the association for the purpose of enabling the takeover of the project. " Sandeep Sreekumar, who legally represented the association, said that the association is planning to complete the pending project by pooling funds from around 50 flat-owners who are members of the association. "The order, which is the first of its kind from K-RERA in the state, is a big relief to the allottees who are legally fighting for many years, and they are hopeful that they can revive the project," he said. KOCHI: Kerala's ambitious push into the country's defence innovation space is gaining traction, less than a year after the state quietly launched the Kerala Defence Innovation Zone (K-DIZ). Conceived as a single collaborative platform for startups, academia, industry, and defence stakeholders , K-DIZ is now moving into high gear — building connections, funding pipelines, and strategic partnerships aimed at making Kerala a serious player in India's Atmanirbhar Bharat drive for self-reliant defence manufacturing. Jointly driven by the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) and Technopark, K-DIZ operates under the planned Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Defence & Aerospace at Technopark Phase IV (Technocity), Thiruvananthapuram. Its mission is to bridge the gap between innovators and the armed forces by enabling a sharper understanding of operational needs and turning that insight into deployable solutions. 'With a strong digital infrastructure, a thriving startup ecosystem, robust R&D capabilities, institutional support, and a rich talent pool, Kerala is well-positioned to emerge as a hub for defence innovation.
