Martin provides major Aasgaard Rangers injury update

The playmaker picked up a thigh injury during pre-season - in a bounce game against Dunfermline - and is a doubt to take part in the Champions League second qualifying round tie first leg at Ibrox.
Martin did not completely rule Aasgaard out for the first leg and remains hopeful he can overcome a race for fitness ahead of the crucial contest next week.

But, the Ibrox boss conceded the fixture might just come too soon as he voiced his hope for Aasgaard to at least be back and ready for the second leg should he be sidelined on Tuesday.
"It's disappointing for him and for us," Martin told Rangers TV.
"He has been everything we thought we were getting and more. Since he has been in he has been incredible.

"His understanding, his athleticism, the power he has, the technical capability, he really is an exciting player for us.
"Unfortunately, it is a different level of intensity and it has been high demands in pre-season.
"He has picked up a little something so he is going to be touch and go.
"We hope he can be involved but if not then we are really hopeful he will be ready and raring to go for the second one."

Neil Lennon asked 'is the title race over' as Ally McCoist bites his tongue at cheeky Rangers write-off

Lennon and McCoist discussed the Glasgow sides' starts to the Premiership season live on radio Neil Lennon wasn't having it when quizzed on whether the Premiership title race is over already ‌ And host Ally McCoist refused to 'bite' when the same question was put to him live on radio. ‌ Dunfermline boss Lennon joined McCoist on his morning talkSPORT show and, when the Celtic and Rangers heroes get together, there's no points for guessing the headline topic of conversation. ‌ The two discussed the Glasgow sides' results over the weekend after Celtic cruised past Aberdeen with a 2-0 win to continue their 100 per cent start, while Rangers faltered at home to Dundee with a 1-1 draw. It means that, after two games of the season, four points already separate the Old Firm rivals – while it's Hearts who lead the way on goal difference at the top. McCoist's co-host Ray Parlour was in a mischievous mood and he'd been trying to get a rise out of the Ibrox legend throughout the morning. ‌ When Lennon came on though, he wasn't having the idea that a four-point gap between the sides at this stage is insurmountable. He said: "No, it's early days. With Rangers, they've got to qualify for the Champions League, so I always think there are mitigating circumstances this time of year. "They're playing tough European games midweek then having to play teams who are really motivated at the weekend, I've had problems myself in those sort of spells. ‌ "Russell's just in the door. He's still got to put his imprint on the team. "But the bloodlust up here, it's ridiculous. One or two games and people are questioning his tenure. Then on the other side of the city, people are questioning Brendan after a perfect start to the season. You've just got to be laser-focused and try to block out the noise. It's ridiculous!" Speaking earlier on the show, McCoist read out a script to lead into some Premiership chat and he was adamant the writers in the production room were at the wind-up. ‌ He read out, "Celtic continued their perfect start to the Scottish Premiership season...' before interrupting: "Hang on they've won two games, man! What's going on? Perfect start? He's trying to wind me up in there!" He continued reading: "Winning 2-0 at Aberdeen, who themselves now sit rock bottom. Russell Martin, meanwhile, made unwanted history at Rangers as they failed to win in their opening two league games for the first time since 1989 - which I was probably responsible for - drawing 1-1 at home with Dundee. Is the title race already over?" After finishing the script, McCoist then said: "Give it a break lads, come on!" That was when Parlour announced that Lennon would be coming on the show as he said: "We'll be asking Neil Lennon if the Scottish title race is already over!" A laughing McCoist replied: "I'm not biting!"

Is Viktoria Plzen vs Rangers on TV? Live stream, channel and Champions League kick-off time

Rangers are looking to get it over the line after putting one foot in the playoff round It's job almost done for Rangers in their bid to reach the Champions League playoff round – but they still need to get it over the line against Viktoria Plzen. ‌ They delivered their best performance of the Russell Martin era last Tuesday to take the Czechs apart and a 3-0 victory, barring a Euro disaster for the ages, should be enough to see them through to the final hurdle before the league phase. ‌ But Martin won't be taking his foot off the gas as he demands a response to their 1-1 draw with Dundee at the weekend. ‌ By his own admission he should have made some changes for that one rather than going with the same XI who featured in midweek so don't be surprised if there's a tweak or two for the trip to Czechia. But it's unlikely to be wholesale changes with a League Cup trip to Alloa on Saturday offering a safer chance for rotation. Can Rangers get it over the line and set up a blockbuster playoff with RB Salzburg or Club Brugge? Here's everything you need to know to keep tabs on the game. Where and when is Viktoria Plzen vs Rangers? Plzen host Rangers at the Doosan Arena on Tuesday, August 12. Kickoff is at the slightly earlier time of 6pm. Is Viktoria Plzen vs Rangers on TV? Walsh then became the club's youngest-ever European starter the following week in the second leg. He was named in the line-up alongside the likes of Reece James, Jadon Sancho and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall at Stamford Bridge. The 16-year-old was preparing for his GCSEs when he made his full debut. At the time, head coach Enzo Maresca said: "His talent is very good. Technique is fantastic. I really like him. Between the lines is good, you can see immediately he has something. "For sure at 17, 18, he needs to work hard and continue. I like also the personality, he's worked with us during the season. "He's not shy, he's asking for the ball, he's shouting and talking. I like it, he's a good player." Walsh missed out on a place in Chelsea's travelling Club World Cup squad earlier this summer. But he was handed some minutes during the club's final pre-season friendly against AC Milan on Sunday. The teenager shared the pitch with Real Madrid icon and six-time Champions League winner Luka Modric, who is 23 years older than him, during the 4-1 win. Due to his age, Walsh is currently unable to sign a professional contract. He will likely pen his first pro deal when he turns 17 in October. Walsh joined Chelsea at the age of seven and progressed through the age groups before making his first-team debut last season. He spent much of the 2024-25 campaign playing for the Under-18s. The midfielder scored four goals and provided two assists for the U18s last term. He has also made 11 appearances for England at youth level.
