Prince William 'goes into dad mode' as he issues order to Prince Louis
Prince William went into "dad mode" as he issued an instruction to his children at the King's official birthday celebrations, it has been claimed. In a new Channel 5 documentary, Lip-Reading The Royals: The Secret Conversations, which aired last night, a forensic lip reader weighed in on a sweet family moment captured at Trooping the Colour last year.
On Saturday, June 14, the Prince and Princess of Wales and their three children, Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte, joined King Charles and Queen Camilla on the Buckingham Palace balcony to watch a flypast by the Red Arrows.
However, Lip reader Nicola Hickling detailed how last year, William issued a fatherly instruction to his children as they watched the spectacle. Yet, it seems that George was struck by something a bit closer to Earth.
According to Nicola, William tells his children: "Eyes up to the sky." After this, all three of them look up, and then George turns to his father and says: "The crowd is so loud."
She added that a gesture made by Louis was him telling his family that he'd seen a propeller, with George responding by asking: "Where?" Afterwards, Kate asked her youngest: 'Wow, did you enjoy that?"
Cristo Foufas, a royal analyst, said: "Kate and William immediately go into mum and dad mode then. 'Can you see it? Oh, they're coming around again', you know, 'Did you enjoy it?' All of those sorts of things they're saying to make it a special moment for their children."
He claimed that the couple must have seen a "million flypasts" and that the displays were likely as "dull as ditch water" to them by now, but William and Kate weren't "letting that get to them".
Cristo added that the future King and Queen were "making themselves enthusiastic" about it and attempting to make the proceedings "really special" for their children.
Trooping the Colour has marked the official birthday of the UK sovereign for more than 260 years. Each year, more than 1,400 parading soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians unite for the proceedings.
During this year's event, which featured the usual pageantry, Charles and Camilla rode in a carriage as part of a military procession down the Mall and into Horse Guards Parade, reports the BBC.
At the request of Charles, the Royals wore black armbands as a mark of respect to the victims of the Air India crash, which tragically led to the deaths of 241 passengers and crew and at least eight people on the ground.
For 2025, the Red Arrows used a greener fuel, which included a sustainable aviation fuel and a biofuel that delivered the iconic trail. The broadcaster also suggested that this would have likely gone down well with Charles, a passionate environmental advocate.

ITV star Martin Lewis makes his acting debut as beloved BBC comedy returns tonight
Motherland star Diane Morgan returns tonight as her alter-ego Mandy Carter, in hilarious 15-minute comedy shorts about a woman who just can't hold down a job - however, there's one particular guest star who fans may be surprised to see. Tonight's (Monday 21 July) series four debut will see ITV star Martin Lewis make his acting debut in the BBC comedy, which sees Diane look for a new career. Back at the employment centre, Mandy confesses she only managed to last 40 minutes in her latest gig as a dog food taster, but she did walk off with some (stolen) freebies. It's one sacking too many, so Mandy is put on a 'restart scheme' to get her back to work, which involves a cringey meeting in a town hall. Everyone says her image is part of the problem, so poor Mandy tries to shop for a new look, but the staff don't even want her in the shop. Later, minding the desk at her friend's nail salon, Mandy runs into her high school nemesis. Look out for guest stars including ex- EastEnder Cheryl Fergison, Car Share's Sian Gibson and even money saver Martin Lewis! Mandy airs tonight at 10pm on BBC Two. The best of the rest Female Fishermen: Beyond the Buoys When it comes to male-dominated careers, fishing has to be near the top of the list – of the 10,000 fishermen currently working in Britain, only 1% of them are female. But the tide is turning. An increasing number of young women are discovering this profession, and many believe female recruits could revitalise a flailing industry. Brooke is only 20 years old, and enjoys going out on the boat, even though she's not a morning person. Alongside her work as a nail technician, she also makes a living hauling in shellfish off the Isle of Skye, and has been nominated for a prestigious industry award. Over on the West Highlands, we meet Erin, who spends a fortnight at a time battling the dangerous conditions of the North Atlantic to bring home delicious prawns. She admits that it can be tough sharing cabins with men and coping with rough seas, but she loves seeing the world from the water. Meanwhile, Emma skippers her own creel boat after following in her father's footsteps. She has proved herself (winning the same award Brooke is nominated for), but her proud dad admits that women face significant prejudice in the industry, with many fishermen not ready to accept this could be a woman's world. Brooke faced similar attitudes, but was determined to prove her doubters wrong. Erin reflects on the declining numbers of young people going into the business, and explains people need to accept women if they want fishing to thrive in the UK. Human So many natural history programmes give us insights into other species, but this landmark series reveals the fascinating secrets of our own. Incredible advances in DNA mean that we now understand that all humans alive today who do not have African origins, descend from a small group of Homo sapiens, who migrated to the Middle East. They were the first group to leave Africa, and proved incredibly successful in their quest for survival. Paleoanthropologist Ella Al-Shamahi explains how these humans managed to travel to Sri Lanka and make a home in the inhospitable rainforests there, hunting monkeys with hastily fashioned bone arrowheads. Ella also visits the Indonesian Island of Flores to introduce us to a species of human affectionately known as the 'hobbits', because of their likeness to the petite heroes of Lord of the Rings. How did this small but mighty species evolve and why did it fail to survive? Human airs at 9pm tonight on BBC Two.
