'Wow' - Alex Morgan's ESPYs Outfit Is Going Viral
Former USWNT soccer player Alex Morgan made quite the fashion statement at the 2025 ESPY Awards on Wednesday night.
Morgan was honored with the Icon Award during the 2025 ESPYS, which recognized her incredible career and significant impact on the world of sports. She wasn't the only notable athlete who received this award Wednesday night. The two-time World Cup champion shared the stage with WNBA legend Diana Taurasi.
"We're standing on the shoulders of giants, and this is a huge tribute to them as much as us," Morgan said. "So, to the women before us, it's because of you that we never have to apologize for speaking up or for fighting to raise the bar. It's because of you that we have no limits."
While fans appreciated Morgan's speech, it was her dress that truly grabbed everyone's attention.
Morgan, 36, wore a stunning silver and black dress that left some people speechless. Others were just praising the 2012 Olympic gold medalist.
"The best!! She's an icon," one fan said.
"Mother is mothering," a second fan commented.
"She looks so good ugh," another fan wrote on X.
"Alex Morgan is a generational talent," a social media user said.
Morgan played her final professional match with the San Diego Wave on Sept. 8, 2024. That being said, she's best known for her run with the national team.
"I grew up on this team, it was so much more than soccer," Morgan said. "It was the friendships and the unwavering respect and support among each other, the relentless push for global investment in women's sports, and the pivotal moments of success both on and off the field. I am so incredibly honored to have borrowed the crest for more than 15 years. I learned so much about myself in that time and so much of that is a credit to my teammates and our fans. I feel immense pride in where this team is headed, and I will forever be a fan of the USWNT. My desire for success may have always driven me, but what I got in return was more than I could have ever asked and hoped for."
We can't wait to see what's next for Morgan.'Wow' - Alex Morgan's ESPYs Outfit Is Going Viral first appeared on The Spun on Jul 17, 2025

The hall of fame announced its 2025 class Friday night. Inductions are scheduled for Dec. 19 in Detroit. Hockey Hall of Fame member Chelios played defenseman for a decade, helping the Detroit Red Wings win two Stanley Cup Finals. Wallace helped the Detroit Pistons beat the Lakers for the 2004 NBA championship and reach four straight Eastern Conference finals. ESPN Host Apologizes To NFL Fanbase For Training Camp Outfit
ESPN Host Apologizes To NFL Fanbase For Training Camp Outfit originally appeared on The Spun. ESPN host Shae Peppler Cornette left her usual workplace this Friday to cover an NFC North team at training camp. Cornette was a Chicago Bears reporter for Fox 32 prior to joining ESPN. She hosted her own weekly sports program, "Bears Unleashed." Additionally, she worked for the Big Ten Network and The Chicago Huddle on ABC 7. Initially, Cornette helped out ESPN as a host for its college sports coverage. She was eventually promoted to "SportsCenter" host due to her work ethic. From time to time, she also fills in as the host of "First Take." That's only when Molly Qerim is off though. As part of ESPN's "50 States in 50 Days" tour, Cornette was in Wisconsin with Ryan Clark this Friday to watch the Green Bay Packers during their opening week of training camp. Even though Cornette is a fan of the Bears, she was willing to wear Green Bay's colors while in enemy territory. Prior to this Friday's edition of "SportsCenter," Cornette issued an apology to Bears fans. Whether or not they'll forgive her is unclear. "I'm sorry Bears was the hand I was dealt," Cornette wrote. Considering the Packers have owned the Bears for the past decade, we'd totally understand if their fans are a bit offended by Cornette's outfit. Will that impact Cornette's fandom for the 2025 season though? Probably not. The Bears will begin their 2025 season on Sept. 8 against the Minnesota Vikings. They won't face the Packers until Dec. 7. Their second meeting will take place roughly two weeks later on Dec. 20. Amid budget squeeze, a Miami-Dade commissioner wants to cancel World Cup subsidy
In the face of looming cuts to charity grants in the county budget, a Miami-Dade commissioner wants to claw back the $46 million the county plans to spend subsidizing a global sports event: the 2026 World Cup games. Commissioner Kionne McGhee, who represents a suburban district in South Miami-Dade that has some of the county's highest concentrations of poverty, said Friday he'll ask for a special meeting to undo past funding votes to cover local expenses for the seven soccer matches scheduled for Hard Rock Stadium next summer. 'Until they find us the money to fully fund the nonprofits that provide services to the community, I think we are obligated as elected officials to get this money back and give it to the nonprofits,' McGhee said in an interview Friday. His demand highlights the bad timing for Miami-Dade's elected officials as the approved $46 million in free police and paramedic overtime and cash payouts for World Cup overlap with what's likely to be the leanest budget year for the county since the aftermath of the 2008 housing crash. Mayor Daniella Levine Cava has proposed a 2026 budget that slashes about $40 million in funding for county charity grants. The budget also has cuts for the Parks Department, including less money for athletic fields and lifeguards. The mayor recommended spending legislation earlier this year that doubled the commission's prior approval of a $10.5 million cash subsidy for World Cup. The legislation boosted the county's planned cash payments for the games to $21 million. Add in an estimated $25 million worth of free police, paramedic services and other county staff that Miami-Dade would pay for, and the subsidy total would hit $46 million. In a May 6 memo, Levine Cava said contributing the sports funding may result in reductions in county services — weeks before her budget proposal revealed proposed cuts to the charity grants, the loss of some lifeguards at county parks and scattered rollbacks of spending on senior services. Nevertheless, commissioners approved the legislation with the planned $21 million World Cup subsidies on May 6 — legislation that was seconded by McGhee. Three commissioners voted against the budget adjustment: Marleine Bastien, Juan Carlos Bermudez and Roberto Gonzalez. In her memo, Levine Cava recommended commissioners adopt the extra $10.5 million for World Cup as part of a larger midyear spending package. She said the request for extra World Cup dollars came from the spending legislation's sponsor, Commissioner Oliver Gilbert, whose district includes Hard Rock Stadium. On Friday, her office released a statement expressing concerns about World Cup funding. 'The Mayor expressed concerns when this funding request was first brought to the administration,' the statement read. 'Those concerns remain as we balance critical needs in our community.' In a press release, McGhee noted that he was a past supporter of the plan to bring soccer's premiere event to Miami and offer financial support from the county. But he said Levine Cava's budget proposal 'changes everything.' To secure a special meeting revisiting a politically fraught issue that's already gone through a commission vote, McGhee needs a signed request from at least six other commissioners on the 13-member board. County funding for World Cup goes to the nonprofit host committee, which is independent of FIFA. Rodney Barreto, the chair of the local World Cup host committee, has been spearheading the push for government funding for the games at Hard Rock Stadium. On Friday, he pointed out that Miami-Dade had competed to be a World Cup host city for the 2026 games and that such a position comes with expenses. 'I know it's a tough time,' said Barreto, a partner in a lobbying firm that represents the Miami Dolphins, owner of Hard Rock. 'I know tough decisions have to be made. I think the county can make them and still fully support FIFA World Cup 2026 in Miami-Dade.'
