Stolen Mustang Gets Pitted Hard In Georgia
Read the full story on The Auto Wire
After successfully fleeing from local police earlier in the day, a woman driving the Ford Mustang she stole learned a hard lesson at the hands of Clayton County Sheriff's Blackhawk unit. The deputies in that elite force are trained for high-speed, risky pursuits, so they were able to chase down and PIT the pony car out with relative ease.It probably didn't hurt that the suspect was reportedly high at the time. Perhaps that's in part why she decided to walk into a funeral parlor, take the director's keys, then drive off in his Mustang.
Hours later, members of Blackhawk spot the white Ford convertible and try pulling it over, as you can see in the included dashcam video.
They probably already knew the driver was going to run and she didn't disappoint. However, she made the mistake not only of taking a vehicle that doesn't belong to her, but snagging an EcoBoost instead of a GT.
With a wimpy turbocharged four-cylinder engine, she doesn't stand a chance against the deputies' Hemi V8-powered Chargers. For all the EcoBoost fans who can't handle the truth, this is exactly why your pony doesn't get much respect.
Instead of giving the suspect time to pull a move and slip away or do something else stupid, the lead deputy almost immediately performs a well-executed PIT maneuver. The Ford spins one way, the driver overcorrects, and it spins the other direction, slamming into the concrete barrier.
That does significant damage to the Mustang, perhaps more than can be seen in the video. We're guessing the funeral director is going to get a big insurance payout with a new car in his future. But the female suspect didn't get away and is now facing consequences in the justice system.

Dem Rep. Nadler slams Trump for 'sowing chaos' after his aide was detained by 'heavy-handed' DHS agents in Manhattan office
Longtime Democratic Rep. Jerrod Nadler slammed President Trump for 'sowing chaos' nationwide after federal agents handcuffed one of his aides inside his lower Manhattan office. The lawmaker's verbal tirade came after Department of Homeland Security officers entered the Big Apple office Wednesday and accused his staff of 'harboring rioters' in a dramatic confrontation caught on video. 'President Trump and the Department of Homeland Security are sowing chaos in our communities, using intimidating tactics against both citizens and non-citizens in a reckless and dangerous manner,' he said in a statement to Politico. The video, obtained by Gothamist, showed one agent aggressively restraining a teary-eyed female staffer, while another employee asked for a warrant and blocked a second officer from entering a private section of the congressional office, located in the same Varick Street building as federal immigration court. Advertisement 'I'm a federal officer, we're here checking on something,' the male agent said to the employee standing in his way, the footage showed. 'We have the right to check. You are harboring rioters in the office,' he argued in the heated back-and-forth that ended with the staffer granting him access to the back office. Nadler said that the 'deeply troubling' incident showed a clear violation of legal protocols. 'Based on earlier incidents in a nearby facility, FPS officers were concerned about the safety of the federal employees in the office and went to the location to ensure the safety and wellbeing of those present,' Homeland Security officials said. 4 Another teary-eyed staffer was cuffed during the heated confrontation. YouTube/WNYC Advertisement When they arrived, one individual – the woman who was briefly detained – was 'verbally confrontational and physically blocked access to the office' after the officers identified themselves and explained why there were there. 'The officers then detained the individual in the hallway for the purpose of completing the security check,' DHS said. 4 Nadler said the 'deeply troubling' incident violated legal protocols. Nadler charged that the Trump administration is embracing totalitarian and authoritarian tactics. 'The Trump administration is trying to intimidate members of Congress,' Nadler told the New York Times Saturday. 'They're behaving like fascists. We have to fight them. We don't want to be a fascist country.' The White House did not immediately respond to The Post's request for comment.

Galt City Council considers money to help Liberty Ranch boosters
May 31—GALT — A high school booster club is getting some financial help months after some $200,000 in funds were stolen. The Galt City Council will consider approving the allocation of $1,000 in public benefit funds from Vice Mayor Paul Sandhu to the Liberty Ranch Hawks Booster Club at its Tuesday, June 4 meeting. Sandhu asked for the funds to be allocated to the organization during the May 20 council meeting. "Their financial (situation), as everybody knows, is not that great," Sandhu said last week. "So I'd like to give my $1,000 to them." The Galt Joint Union High School District announced on March 20 that funds were found to be missing from the Liberty Ranch High School Sports Booster Club following an audit earlier in the month. The club filed a civil complaint against its former treasurer, Carmela Cuadrado Baker in Sacramento County Superior Court on March 20, along withe her husband Paul and 10 other named people. The suit alleges that Carmela Baker used by the club's debit card at 51 different businesses, with the largest coming at Instacart, where she spent more than $53,000. There were also purchases of more than $44,000 on Amazon, more than $27,000 at Walmart, nearly $18,000 at Costco and nearly $13,000 through PayPal. Other notable spending included more than $7,000 through AirBNB, nearly $7,000 at the City of Galt, $4,600 at Disneyland, nearly $5,000 at Save Mart and more than $3,000 at Stratton's Pizza. According to the suit, Carmela Baker is a para-educator at the Galt Joint Union Elementary School District who began volunteering with the Booster Club in 2019. The club raises and distributes funds for 17 athletic teams at Liberty Ranch High School through events and concessions at the Hawks Nest and Hawks Stadium. Money raised goes into a pool, which is then used to distribute to teams for equipment, team dinners, senior nights and banquets, among other events. Last June, the council agreed to re-establish the City Council Public Benefit Funds for the use of "worthy projects, programs, organizations, or other purposes of benefit to the community." Each council member was allotted $1,000 in a fiscal year for a grand total of $5,000 to be distributed. Said funds need to be used in full each fiscal year and cannot be rolled over. Tuesday's meeting begins at 6 p.m. at Galt City Hall, 380 Civic Drive. It will also be livestreamed at the council's YouTube channel,
