Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem, the reigning Olympic champion, was absent from these four events. Nadeem has been selective in his competition schedule this season, focusing on training in Pakistan.
He did participate in the Asian Athletics Championship last month, which Chopra had opted to skip, where he secured a gold medal with an 86.40-meter throw.

"My focus is on the World Athletics Championships and I am working hard for that," Arshad said. "It is very hot in Lahore. I am going to England soon and will be training there for a month."
The World Athletics Championships are scheduled to take place in Tokyo from September 13-21, where both athletes are expected to compete.

Nadeem made history at the Paris Olympics last year by breaking the Olympic javelin record with a throw of 92.97 metres. This achievement prevented Chopra from defending his gold medal from the Tokyo Olympics, which were affected by the pandemic.
Recently, Nadeem served as the chief guest at a World Olympic Day celebration in Lahore. During the event, he shared his thoughts on the achievement and offered encouragement to aspiring athletes.
"It is a matter of pride for athletes to celebrate this day and I am proud that I am celebrating it as an Olympic gold medallist for the first time," Arshad said.
He also provided inspiration to young athletes, emphasising the importance of determination and hard work. "My message to the youngsters is to stay focused. I came from a small place and won a gold medal. So, if they work hard, they too can win medals."

NHL trade rumors: Rangers could move K'Andre Miller to land $56 million defenseman

Gavrikov emerges as Rangers' top target in free agency buzz (Image via: Getty Images) T he New York Rangers are reportedly targeting LA Kings defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov as one of their top priorities ahead of the 2025 NHL free agency period, set to begin on July 1. According to multiple reports, there is mutual interest between Gavrikov and the Rangers, with the 29-year-old defenseman including New York on his shortlist of preferred destinations, if he chooses not to re-sign with the Kings. Vladislav Gavrikov's strong season makes him a coveted free agent Gavrikov is coming off a career-best NHL season, recording 5 goals and 30 points across all 82 games, with a +26 rating that reflects his strong two-way impact on the ice. Logging over 20 minutes of ice time per night, the 29-year-old Russian defenseman has built a reputation for elite shutdown ability and dependable defensive play, exactly the kind of stabilizing force the Rangers need after their late-season collapse. Despite finishing the regular season atop the standings with the President's Trophy, New York missed the playoffs entirely. That collapse has accelerated their roster shake-up. Rangers may trade K'Andre Miller to make room However, signing Gavrikov won't be easy. He's expected to command a seven-year contract worth around $8 million annually, which would significantly limit the Rangers' flexibility given their $13.1 million in available cap space. To make the deal feasible, New York may need to trade RFA defenseman K'Andre Miller, who has drawn strong trade interest from across the league. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Buy Brass Idols - Handmade Brass Statues for Home & Gifting Luxeartisanship Buy Now Undo Moving Miller would not only create cap room but also allow Gavrikov to take over the top left-side defenseman role. Rangers trade Chris Kreider to Anaheim Ducks Chris Kreider, drafted 19th overall in the 2009 NHL Draft, was the longest-tenured player on the Rangers. In return, New York received forward prospect Carey Terrance and a third-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, sending Kreider and a fourth-rounder to Anaheim. Despite a decline in production, Kreider still managed 30 points (22 goals, 8 assists) in 66 regular-season games. While Gavrikov's skill set aligns with the Rangers' needs, concerns linger over the risks of a long-term contract. At 29, a seven-year deal would take him into his mid-30s, raising red flags given the team's existing long-term investments on defense. The Silver Lining Of Leeds Loss: Batting Transition On Track

A sample size of one game is not enough to make a sweeping judgement but India certainly did not miss their recently retired superstars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the opening Test against England with the new top-four giving a very settled look to the batting line-up. How long would it take fill the void left by Rohit and Kohli? This question dominated the discussions leading up to the first Test at Headingly. New captain Shubman Gill, whose record in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia) countries was questioned, had to make a significant contribution to earn the respect of the dressing room. Not only did he make a statement hundred as India's new number four, the visitors tallied as many as five centuries across two innings yet somehow managed to lose the game, thanks to a bowling attack which is heavily reliant on Jasprit Bumrah. K L Rahul was all class at the top of the order, shutting the debate on his batting slot for the foreseeable future. He put a masterclass on how to bat in English conditions. His opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had smashed a memorable hundred to start his maiden tour of Australia, replicated that in his first innings in England. There were questions on Gill's defence and his technique against the moving ball but he reinvented his game ahead of an important tour. The way he used his feet was duly noted by the greats of the game, including former captain Sourav Ganguly, who was pleasantly surprised by the improvement. "I am so happy to see his feet (movement) away from home, there's a massive improvement in that away from home. Shubman's feet were fantastic, didn't make a mistake," Ganguly told PTI in an interview recently. And there was Rishabh Pant at number five, achieving a rare feat of two hundreds in a Test with a welcome mix of maturity and flamboyance, showing he was ready to change gears. New number three Sai Sudharsan got out off a innocuous ball in the first innings before showing promise in the second essay. He is expected to be given a long rope and the same goes for Karun Nair, who would be looking to keep his drives through the ground after lean returns from the game. India have a lot to improve in the bowling and fielding department but the batting seems to be sorted for now. "We can tell end of the series whether the transition has happened (following retirements of Rohit and Kohli)," former India chief selector MSK Prasad told PTI. "The batting doing well is not a surprise as they are they are seasoned cricketers. Gill, Yashasvi, Pant, KL, they all were outstanding and have been around for long. I want to talk more about KL, when he plays like that, Test cricket looks at its best," he said. Prasad said he won't be making any changes to the playing eleven at Edgbaston despite clamour for Kuldeep Yadav's inclusion. "Shardul was picked because of what he has done in England on previous tours. I would give him another opportunity," the former India wicket-keeper added. To add to that, the lower-order needs to a show a lot more application with the bat. Former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar, who has played a few memorable knocks in England, too was left impressed by the batters. "Most of the batters performed. I would say that is a very good sign going forward. Apart from this you have got three quality batters who are not even part of the squad -- Shreyas, Sarfaraza and Padikkal. "The main batters are in form and I am sure Karun and Sai will also come good eventually," said Vengsarkar. India have a steep climb ahead but considering the batters' performance in the series, the selectors stand to move on from Rohit and Kohli have been vindicated.
