Scarlett Johansson resembles Marilyn Monroe in first images from 'gritty' Russian mafia movie... see her look
Scarlett Johansson has been seen for the first time in character for her next film Paper Tiger.
The 40-year-old movie star was shooting a scene outside a residential home in New York City where she looked distressed and near tears.
The Hollywood pinup had on a short, curly blonde wig with heavy makeup that included red lipstick which made her resemble 1950s sex symbol Marilyn Monroe.
Her clothes were conservative as she wore a powder blue knit top, an ivory linen blazer and dark khaki slacks with brown open-toe high heels. There was a beige purse over her shoulder as she had on gold earrings and a chain necklace.
The versatile stalwart was seen getting into a cherry red sedan with yellow New York license plate.
Also with her was Miles Teller, who likely plays her husband, and two young boys in private school uniforms.
It is not known what character Scarlett plays in Paper Tiger but it appears she is a matriarch.
Deadline described the film as 'tense and gritty.' There is also plenty of 'betrayal' as a family is torn apart.
The plot revolves around two brothers who try to make a fast money. Instead they get 'entangled in a scheme that turns out to be too good to be true.'
The film's synopsis reads: 'As they try to navigate their way through an ever-more dangerous world of corruption and violence, they find themselves and their family brutally terrorized by the Russian 'Mafiya.'
'Their bond begins to fray, and betrayal — once utterly unthinkable — now becomes all too possible.'
Also in the film is Star Wars veteran Adam Driver who last worked with Scarlett in Marriage Story.
The director is James Gray.
Anne Hathaway was supposed to star in the movie with Jeremy Strong but their schedules didn't work out.
Marilyn Monroe seen in her heyday in the 1950s when working for 20th Century Fox
The film will be produced by Rodrigo Teixeira under his RT Features banner and frequent collaborator Anthony Katagas under AK Productions alongside Raffaella Leone, Gary Farkas, Marco Perego, Carlo Salem, and Andrea Bucko.
Executive producers include Lee Broda, Jeff Rice, Riccardo Maddalosso and Emily Salveson.
Johansson is best known for Jojo Rabbit, Her, Lost in Translation, as well as the The Avengers, Sing, and Captain America franchises and more.
She will next star in Wes Anderson's The Phoenician Scheme and will make her directorial debut with Eleanor the Great.
Teller known for hits including Top Gun: Maverick, Whiplash, and The Spectacular Now.
He recently starred in The Gorge for Apple TV+ and wrapped production on Michael Jackson biopic Michael and Eternity, in which he stars opposite Elizabeth Olsen and Callum Turner.
He will next star in Greg Kwedar's fantastical comedy Possum Song and Paul Downs Colaizzo's Winter Games for Paramount Pictures.
Teller also seemed to wearing a wig as he had on prescription glasses
This comes after Johansson said she found directing to be a 'really rewarding' experience.
The star made her directorial debut with Eleanor the Great, the new drama movie starring June Squibb in the title role, and Scarlett has revealed that she loved the challenge of working behind the camera.
The Hollywood star told Extra: 'I have a different perspective on just the process of, you know, pre-production and then what goes on after we all leave. I think, as an actor, you're hoping that the director sees kind of what you were doing and follows, you know, pulls the right thread and all of that stuff, but you don't know.
'You have no, kind of, control over it and now, you know, having experienced the other side of it, it just gives you, I think, an interesting insight into how people, other directors make their choices and the process that they go through to, you know, make it all happen. It's a lot of work, but it can be really rewarding.'
Scarlett recently premiered the movie at the Cannes Film Festival, and she relished walking the red carpet with Erin Kellyman and June Squibb.
Despite this, Scarlett recently revealed that she's 'not sure' whether to focus her attention on directing or acting.
The film star doesn't yet know whether her long-term future is in front, or behind, the camera.
Asked if the film marks a new beginning for her, Scarlett told Collider: 'I don't know. I'm not sure. I guess we'll see.
'My intention is to work on projects I would go and see, whether they're like 'Jurassic World' or this film. The commerciality of things is also important to me, too. Would audiences want to see this, too? Is this generally interesting? Those are things I look for and focus on and care about. So, we'll see, I guess.'
Scarlett - who is one of the best-paid actresses in Hollywood - insisted that she has no intention of retiring from acting.

The "30 For 30" rapper won the best male hip hop artist award, best album of the year as well as the video of the year award for 'Not Like Us." Host comedian Kevin Hart opened the ceremony by recognizing the BET Awards' 25th anniversary and all of the "history that has been made" on the stage. The ceremony traversed the evolution of Black music, starting with a performance by R&B artist Ashanti that featured a compilation of songs, including her 2002 song "Foolish." Additional performances included other 2000s songs "Ballin'" by Mustard, "1 Thing" by Amerie and "Like You" by Bow Wow. Justin Bieber's former manager Scooter Braun thought about suicide amid public clash with Taylor Swift
Scooter Braun says he had thoughts of self-harm amid a time of uncertainty in his life and business. The 43-year-old entertainment executive, best known as the o ne-time manager of pop superstars such as Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and Demi Lovato, chat about his darkest of days on the Diary of a CEO podcast. The New York-born music mogul - who made headlines after purchasing Taylor Swift 's earlier material amid controversial circumstances in 2019 - explained how he came to be suicidal despite experiencing success most could only dream of. Braun said that the reason why he entered a personal growth retreat in October of 2020 was because his marriage to wife Yael Cohen, 38, - who he shares kids Jagger, nine, Levi, seven, and Hart, five, with - 'was falling apart. ' Braun said that he felt inclined to self-harm - 'It went to a very dark place,' he admitted - after going down a rabbit hole of 'What if's' as he felt his life slipping away amid the nascent marital split. 'I had a suicidal thought for 20 minutes where I was like, " If my marriage is going to fall apart, I'm not gonna be with my kids all the time,' Braun said. 'I can't control this. I'm not gonna be this perfect image that I've presented to the world. Braun is best known as the one-time manager of pop superstars such as Justin Bieber. Pictured in LA in January of 2020, the year he entered a week-long residential and personal growth retreat called The Hoffman Process Braun added: 'And if I can't be this perfect image, I don't want to be here.' Braun said that the public generally had the misconception he was 'crushing it' in life amid his successful stewardship of the careers of Bieber and Grande. Braun said after the period of suicidal ideation had thankfully passed, he gained a sense of clarity, focus and direction. 'That's not me - I would never leave my kids,' Braun said of his earlier intrusive thoughts. 'I don't wanna leave anybody. Like, what was that?' Braun said that after speaking with a confidante, he was advised to go to a week-long residential and personal growth retreat called The Hoffman Process in an effort to better adapt to the changes coming with his divorce. 'They told me that they could get me in two weeks because there was a cancellation,' he said of facility officials. 'That was the release of Ariana Grande's Dangerous Woman album.' He said Grande had been fine with delaying her release of the record so he could focus on his health. Braun attended Hoffman more than four years ago amid challenges in his personal and professional life. Braun described how the life improvement retreat works: 'It is one week of no phone, no email and intense work on your early childhood to understand why you are the way you are and to give you tools to go out in the world and understand yourself.' Braun said that the intense incident caused him to look within himself and suss out what what truly important in his life as he moved forward. 'I've spent my whole life pursuing these things, doing this, choosing this, choosing that life and choosing the clients,' said Braun. 'I'm the top of my game yet I wanted to kill myself last night. Something has got to change. He continued: 'I chose to go to that place instead. The hard stuff actually came after I got out.' Braun said with the tools in place to maintain a sense of balance, he was able to endure stormy times without feeling too blue. 'I ended up going through a divorce,' Braun said. 'I ended up going through all this different stuff — but I never was depressed again.'
