Sabah PKR said the issue had long been a public concern, especially as it involved the fair management of high-value natural resources for the benefit of all.

It also emphasised that transparency, integrity, and accountability must remain the foundation of all decisions involving Sabah's wealth. Sabah PKR urged the MACC to also examine reports of alleged abuse in the management of the state's increasingly critical water resources. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? Oman Audit Institution Seeks Strategic Collaboration With MACC

KUALA LUMPUR, June 19 (Bernama) -- Oman's State Audit Institution (SAI) has expressed its intention to establish a strategic partnership with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to strengthen international cooperation in combating corruption and enhancing governance. In a statement, the MACC said that the matter was conveyed by SAI deputy chairman for Audit on Authorities, Investment and Companies, Zahra Mohamed Al Lawati, during a courtesy call on MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya today. 'SAI is an independent body that reports directly to the Sultan of Oman and is tasked with overseeing financial and administrative controls, including auditing, performance monitoring, investment management, and the oversight of financial violations,' it said, adding that the institution recorded a significant improvement in the 2024 Corruption Perceptions Index, reflecting a positive outcome of its governance efforts.

Telegram account ‘Edisi Siasat' blocked, new account called ‘Edisi Siasat 2.0' created

KUALA LUMPUR: The Telegram channel 'Edisi Siasat,' which featured information related to alleged misconduct by authorities, has been inaccessible to users of the platform since this afternoon. A Bernama check on the channel found a message displayed stating, 'Doesn't exist, this channel cannot be displayed as it goes against Malaysian law.' It was also observed that all content had been deleted, believed to be blocked by the authorities. However, at 8 pm tonight, Bernama's check on the platform found a new account using the name 'Edisi Siasat 2.0,' believed to have been created by the same administrator. As of now, this new account has more than 2,000 followers. Earlier, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) filed civil action against two channels on the Telegram platform, namely 'Edisi Siasat' and 'Edisi Khas.' MCMC stated today that this action is the first of its kind taken against a social media platform provider, especially since Telegram is an Application Service Provider (Class) [ASP(C)] license holder. 'This follows Telegram's alleged failure to address content that has been repeatedly reported to them, despite various negotiations and cooperation efforts made by MCMC,' the statement said. Both channels were identified as disseminating content that violates provisions under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which has the potential to erode public trust in public institutions and disrupt social order.
