How Royal Kids Enjoy Their Summer Holidays

Yahoo31-07-2025
Summertime is magical for kids, and the royal kids are no different. Prince William and Kate Middleton's three kids, Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, don't have to return to school until September, so they are living it up with family time, international travel, and a special stay at Balmoral Castle, where the late Queen Elizabeth II enjoyed going every year. Of course, they also likely had a big celebration for Prince George's birthday in July!
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's kids Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, also have exciting summer plans, with trips to Disneyland and other fun outings. They may be royalty, but they love a lot of the things we do: like playing cards, watching sports, going to the beach, and spending as much family time as they can get. After all, summer only comes once a year, so might as well make it a good one!
Discover some of the long-standing traditions and fun adventures the royal kids have planned this summer.

Attending Wimbledon
It wouldn't be summer for the Waleses without a visit to Wimbledon! Prince George and Princess Charlotte often go to sporting events, including the annual tennis match held in London. On July 13, the siblings attended a match with their parents, where they looked so chic and grown up in photos smiling and clapping.
Trooping The Colour 2025
For the royals, the annual Trooping the Colour event in June is the unofficial kickoff to summer. This is when the country celebrates the birthday of the sovereign, and the royal family rides in a parade and watches the RAF flypast from the balcony at Buckingham Palace. It's always fun to see the kids interacting at this public event.
Visiting Balmoral Castle
Every year in August, the royal family heads to Balmoral Castle in Scotland for some treasured country time. This tradition has happened for over 100 years, since Prince Albert bought the estate for Queen Victoria in 1852. Queen Elizabeth II famously enjoyed summer here, and even Princess Diana would go with her kids Prince William and Prince Harry as kids. Now, William and Middleton take their three kids for summers here before the fall 2025 school semester begins in September.
Royal expert Jennie Bond told OK! in 2024, 'Just like in the late queen's reign, time at Balmoral is family time. And, if the King gets the chance, he will relish the chance to hang out with his grandchildren by reading them stories, teaching them about the wildlife around them, playing cards, and enjoying picnics … weather permitting!'
Enjoying Family Time at Amner Hall
The summer is sure to include plenty of laid back, kid-friendly experiences at their country home of Amner Hall.
Middleton shared a video last September marking the end of her chemotherapy journey, where Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis were all seen hanging out in the woods, climbing trees, playing on a swing, climbing on logs, having a picnic, playing cards, spending time with dogs, and smiling with each other. It looks like a regular summer of fun!
Stag-Hunting
Prince George turned 12 in July, which is the traditional age that boys participate in a gruesome ritual. Royal author Duncan Larcombe shared that the young royal might be required to take part in a 'controversial pastime long enjoyed by his ancestors,' per Express.
'The Palace has refused to comment on claims that Prince George will be initiated into one of the slightly more gruesome royal traditions this summer,' Larcombe wrote. He added, 'It was reported that he will join his father on a stag-hunting shoot while they visit the Balmoral estate this month. Traditionally, the blood of a hunter's first kill is spread on their face, a ritual that goes back centuries.'
Ugh, ew! If he is made to do it, he will join in a long line of royals who have participated, including his dad and his uncle Prince Harry.
Going on Beach Trips & Family Vacays
Royal insider Bedell Smith told PEOPLE in June 2025 that the family enjoys spending alone time in Norfolk, where they will go to the beach. 'They have a quiet life out in Norfolk, with a lot of freedom to go to places like the beach, and no one bothers them,' Smith shared.
She guessed that this summer, the Wales may also go on family vacation to the Isles of Scilly or the Caribbean, which they have done in the past.
Prince William once revealed that Prince George loves scuba diving, so we bet that'll be on the vacation itinerary as well!
Celebrating Prince George's Birthday
Kate Middleton always makes her kids' birthdays special, and this July, the family celebrated Prince George's 12th birthday! Middleton revealed her birthday tradition on a BBC program in 2019, per The Independent: 'It's become a bit of a tradition that I stay up 'til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing and I make far too much,' she said. 'But I love it.'
Prince George also posed for his official portait and took a silly video with his siblings. It's much less fun than the homemade cake, but he'll appreciate it one day!
Watching Sports
Princess Charlotte recently traveled to Switzerland to cheer on England at the UEFA Women's Euro 2025 final alongside her dad Prince William. Prince George also enjoys watching live sports with his dad, so we bet a lot more of that will happen over the summer.
Going to Disneyland
Going to Disneyland is a royal tradition, one that Princess Diana did with her sons Prince William and Prince Harry. Now, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have carried on that tradition with their kids Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
In June 2025, the Sussexes took their kids to Disneyland, which Markle called 'pure joy.' She shared a compilation video of the family of four enjoying rides, taking family photos, and meeting Elsa. They event went on the same Splash Mountain ride that Princess Diana took Prince William and Prince Harry on when they were little in 1993.
Soaking up Family Time
No matter the specifics of what they do, one thing is for sure: all the royals will be soaking up as much family time as they can over the summer holidays.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are planning on some family togetherness as well, with a source telling InTouch in June 2025, 'Meghan is leading the charge and planning all sorts of getaways for them, some with the kids and some just the two of them,' the insider told the outlet.
'She wants to go to Napa with Harry, do wine tastings, she wants to go to Big Sur and other parts of Northern California with the kids. A trip to see her close friend in Colorado is in the books. And she and Harry are even talking about visiting Canada.'

'The Gilded Age' Season 3 finale: Date, time, cast, where to watch

Spoiler alert: This story includes details from episodes of Season 3 of "The Gilded Age." "The Gilded Age" gave viewers everything from scandal, betrayal, and tragedy in the penultimate episode of the season. Things are fraught in the Russell household with tensions high between Bertha (Carrie Coon) and George (Morgan Spector). Larry Russell's (Harry Richardson) engagement to Marian Brook (Louisa Jacobson) ends after the latter discovers he visited The Haymarket before his trip to Morenci. In the last few moments of the episode George is shot and it remains to be seen if he will survive or not. The Russells were "poised to take their place at the head of society" this season, according to the synopsis, but for now things are looking bleak for them even though Bertha managed to secure the hosting of the prestigious Newport Ball. Ward McAllister (Nathan Lane), meanwhile, has published his scandalous account of the New York elites, prompting Mrs. Astor (Donna Murphy) and ladies including Agnes (Christine Baranski), Ada (Cynthia Nixon), Mrs. Fish (Ashlie Atkinson), and Bertha to cast him out of society, much to his shock. With just one episode remaining, here is what to know about the final episode of "The Gilded Age" Season 3. Will George Russell survive? The penultimate episode of Season 3 ended on a major cliffhanger after the Russell family patriarch, George Russell apparently shot by an unknown assailant at his office. While it remains to be seen if the character will survive, Morgan Spector, who plays George told Variety, viewers "should be very worried." "In the 19th century, gunshot wounds from up close were extremely dangerous," Spector told the media outlet. "Many people didn't survive them. I don't have a contract for next season yet, so who knows?" What is 'The Gilded Age'? From "Downton Abbey" creator Julian Fellowes, "The Gilded Age" follows high society and the battle between "old money" and "new money" in 1800s New York. The lavish period drama, which premiered its third season in June, is soaring to new heights this season with 4.6 million viewers tuning in for Episode 7 in its first three days, according to data shared by HBO. Overall viewership for Season 3 is almost 50% higher than the previous seasons with every episode showing consistent audience growth, according to HBO. The Lasting Appeal of John F. Kennedy Jr.

Outside the main branch of the New York Public Library the other day, a jazz band was playing 'It Wasn't Me,' the Shaggy song about being caught in flagrante delicto, for a crowd of rapt grannies and toddlers. It might have been 2000 … but no. On the marble stairs, an influencer was posing in a Tuckernuck pink tweed dress inspired by Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. In the main reading room, a librarian hoisted with a thump onto a counter six bound volumes. They contained relics of a suddenly long-ago era — nearly every issue of an expensively produced and mostly forgotten monthly magazine, George, which sought to bring together glamour and politics at a time when bipartisanship was on the wane but had yet to harden into rancor. George was the optimistic project of a man who lived his life as the object of intense media fascination from his White House childhood to his early death. With no permanent spot in the library, the bound volumes had been trucked in that morning from a warehouse in Princeton, N.J. What was this thing, this George? Not the QAnon-adjacent version launched in recent years — the original George, with its parade of daffy covers. Want all of The Times? Subscribe.

Paulina Porizkova Shows the Reality of Her Body With a Candid Bikini Photo: ‘This Is 60'

Paulina Porizkova sure knows how to make the reality of aging comforting. Despite her supermodel career, she's just like us! In a July 28 Instagram post, the 60-year-old fashionista showed two snapshots that emphasized how lighting and what we are going through in life can make a difference. The first photo was gorgeously lit as Porizkova hit all the right angles in a tiny white bikini as the sun set in the background — she looked natural and pretty. The second image features her in a flesh-tone bra and panties set with overhead fluorescent lighting that is flattering to absolutely no one. She's proving we can all be both images at the same time. (You can see the photo here.) More from SheKnows At 60, Paulina Porizkova Is Done Dimming Her Light for Love & Her Fiancé Is All for It As always, her caption provided the wisdom we all needed to hear. 'This is me,' Porizkova wrote. 'Vacation, pretty light, posing for a shot. This is also me. Home, not great light, not posing. This is 60.' She continued, 'This is 60 years of sometimes healthy eating, sometimes not. 60 years of sometimes working out, sometimes not. 60 years of doing the right things, followed by doing the wrong things, and over again and again. It's 60 years of learning of what works and what doesn't. And just as I think I've figured it out, everything changes, and I have to start again.' Porizkova then summed up with a quote we should keep nearby anytime self-doubts creep in. She added, 'The beauty of 60 is that now I understand the importance is IN the lesson, not passing the exam.' She has had one of the most successful modeling careers, but Porizkova is also experiencing changes in her body — and she's learned to artfully accept the beauty of what she's accomplished. From walking down the runway around the world to birthing two sons, Porizkova is honoring the body she was given. Porizkova also offered Harper's Bazaar sage advice in April for anyone who is fearing the aging process because in the end, it's the intangible things that 'matter' the most. 'The best part is that you finally turn into the person that you were meant to be all along,' she said. 'And perhaps that's not always a happy finding. But I think if you try to live your life with an understanding that other people matter, that connections matter, and that love matters, then you won't be disappointed with who that person is that you truly are.'Best of SheKnows Tom Cruise's Full Dating History Is Filled With Many A-List Women Who Is Pamela Anderson Dating?
