The exhibition is part of the Japan Cultural Days event, hosted at Ithra headquarters in Dhahran to celebrate 70 years of Japan-Saudi relations.
The exhibition is being held outdoors in the Energy Exhibit area, which provides a distinctive setting for this unique display.
Maha Abdulhadi, creative programs specialist at Ithra, told Arab News: 'With help from Japanese classic car enthusiasts Ali Aldhamin and Nazar Alqlaf, we curated this display to showcase a broad range of vehicles that represent a significant chapter in the history of the Japanese car industry, which is highly appreciated in Saudi Arabia.'
The exhibition features 13 cars, most of which are owned by private collectors in Qatif, and spans a variety of classic models, modern designs, and concept vehicles. 'This is a rare opportunity for car enthusiasts in the Kingdom to experience Japanese engineering and design up close,' Abdulhadi said.
The display highlights the design, technology and innovative features of Japanese vehicles, with the cars available for viewing from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. each day.
'This unique exhibit showcases Japan's innovative designs, precision engineering, and passion for performance, enhancing the festival experience,' Abdulhadi said. 'A Japanese car show as part of the Japan Cultural Days highlights Japan's rich automotive heritage, fosters community engagement, and promotes cultural exchange. It also attracts car enthusiasts.'
The exhibition ends on February 8, marking the conclusion of the Japan Cultural Days celebration.

Trump says Japan will import ‘beautiful' Ford trucks

Japan will start importing Ford's chunky F-150 pickup trucks, US President Donald Trump said as uncertainties surround the two countries' trade accord. Under the deal announced in July, Japanese imports will be subject to a 15 percent 'reciprocal' tariff, down from a threatened 25 percent. These will take effect, like for a raft of other countries, from Thursday. In return the White House said Tokyo will lift 'restrictions' on American cars shipped to Japan, including accepting US vehicle safety standards. 'They're taking our cars,' Trump told CNBC in a phone interview on Tuesday. 'They're taking the very beautiful Ford F-150, which does very well. And I'm sure we'll do very well there, and other things that do very well here will also do well there.' Japanese firms sell millions of cars in the United States every year, but American vehicles are rare in Japan. Ford exited the market almost a decade ago. American cars are often too big for local roads -- the F-150 is 2.4 metres (96 inches) wide with mirrors -- and usually the steering wheel is on the wrong side. Tokyo and Washington, meanwhile, appear at odds over key details of the trade agreement, in particular when the announced lowering of levies on imports of Japanese cars will take place. They now stand at 27.5 percent -- a pre-existing 2.5 percent plus another 25 percent added by Trump -- and are meant to fall to 15 percent. Also unclear is whether other levies on Japan will be capped at 15 percent, or if this would come on top of existing ones. A US executive order released last week indicated that the 15 percent upper limit will be applied only to the European Union, and not for Japan. Japan's tariffs envoy Ryosei Akazawa left on Tuesday for his ninth visit to Washington. 'One purpose of my visit is to prompt the issuance of the president's executive order regarding tariffs on autos and auto parts as early as possible,' Akazawa said before leaving. 'I have confirmed with the United States that there are no discrepancies (regarding the reciprocal tariff rates), but keeping in mind the new duties will be implemented on Thursday, I would like to provide a reminder for a thorough response beforehand,' local media quoted him as saying. Further confusion comes from Trump's assertion that Japan will invest $550 billion into the United States, which will retain 90 percent of the profits. 'That's like a signing bonus that a baseball player would get,' Trump told CNBC. 'That's our money. It's our money to invest as we like.' But the Japanese side has said that this will consist mostly of loans and loan guarantees.

Eastern Province cuts traffic deaths by 72%, saves over $2.6 billion in crash-related costs

Saudi Gazette report DAMMAM — Traffic fatalities in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province have dropped by 72% per 100,000 people and severe injuries by 76%, saving more than SR10 billion ($2.6 billion) in accident-related costs, according to the region's Traffic Safety Committee. The figures were shared during a meeting chaired by Prince Saud bin Naif, Emir of the Eastern Province, who received Secretary-General of the Traffic Safety Committee Abdullah Al-Rajhi and representatives of participating agencies at the Emirate's Diwan on Monday. Prince Saud credited the results to the leadership's continued support for quality-of-life enhancements and road safety improvements. He emphasized the importance of driver awareness, strict adherence to traffic regulations, and leveraging advanced technologies to further reduce accidents. He noted that while smart vehicles are expected to play a growing role in enhancing road safety, human behavior remains central, requiring continued education and awareness campaigns. Al-Rajhi highlighted that Eastern Province ranked first among all Saudi regions in traffic safety performance by the end of 2024, meeting 12 out of 17 national safety indicators. These include road engineering, enforcement, public education, and emergency response, as part of an integrated model led by the Governor. The region's road network achieved an 80% safety rating, with work zones and diversions reaching 95% safety compliance. Al-Rajhi said these advances made the Eastern Province a model for traffic safety recognized by local and international bodies, including the World Health Organization, which documented the region's achievements in a regional safety report.
