Summer I Turned Pretty siren Lola Tung shines at event... after dishing on her juicy 'love triangle' series

Lola Tung let down her hair at a fun event over the weekend. The TV star was celebrating the grand opening of Crocs' new SoHo store at 543 Broadway. The brunette was stepping out in her new favorite style: the Classic Crafted Clog. Tung wore a powder blue oversized T-shirt with black painter pants that had several pockets down the front. Her Crocs were a caramel brown color. 'Had the best time meeting you guys yesterday and hanging out at the @crocs new soho store,' wrote the Crocs spokesperson on Instagram. This comes after she talked about the third and final season of her hit series The Summer I Turned Pretty. It is a very popular love triangle story that is full of beautiful people set at picturesque Cousins Beach. In mid July she talked up the show while on The Tonight Show. She discussed which hunky brother her character, charmer Isabel 'Belly' Conklin, will end up with. The men who want her are Jeremiah, played by Gavin Casalegno, and Conrad, played by Christopher Briney. 'Season 2 ended with a major cliffhanger. This was a big deal. I mean, your character, Belly, chose Jeremiah over Conrad,' Jimmy Fallon said before asking Tung what she thought about that ending. 'I'm all for her following her heart,' the actress shared as she said she was 'Team Belly.' Belly was careful to not give any secretive plot details away. She continued: 'And she's doing what she needs to do in the moment, and following her heart in that moment and in every moment.' In a snippet shared during the show, viewers see Belly watching Jeremiah play Twister when Conrad calls him. Jeremiah asks Belly to answer and she and Conrad have an awkward exchange. When asked about Season 3, Tung said, 'I think it's a lot more of the emotional rollercoaster you're used to, I guess, and also, you know, there's a little time jump, so we meet the characters in a little bit of a more mature place, I think.' Season three takes place four years after season two ended. While on The Tonight Show Tung wore a John Galliano for Dior corset dress from a 2001 collection, along with a pair of 2013 Dior Mary Jane pumps as she accessorized with Panconesi earrings. In a trailer for the show's third and final season, Conrad is seen asking Belly's best friend Taylor (played by Rain Spencer) for advice about his plan to come back into Belly's life. It's clear he is ready to win her over again. The first two episodes of season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty will premiere on Prime Video on Wednesday, July 16. Season three will consist of 10 episodes. The program, which had viewers crying hard enough to give themselves migraines, has become one of Amazon Prime Video's most popular shows. Amazon and MGM Studios' head of television, Vernon Sanders, issued a statement to elaborate on the success of the coming-of-age series. 'We've been delighted to see the passion with which fans have embraced The Summer I Turned Pretty, making Summer Fridays an entertainment phenomenon,' he said. Sanders went on to speak about how The Summer I Turned Pretty, which was created by Jenny Han, had quickly become a fan-favorite program. 'This charming, deeply heartfelt series has shown the breadth of our customer base, appealing to a young, diverse set of viewers. Jenny Han is a gifted storyteller, whose fans have been clamoring for the third chapter of this story,' he stated. The Summer I Turned Pretty is based on Han's book of the same name, which was originally released in 2009. The book was followed up by a pair of sequels that were published in 2010 and 2011, respectively. The series is centered on Isabel 'Belly' Conklin, a teenage girl who ends up in a love triangle with a pair of brothers.

Study: Californians are moving to new Texas city

A new study has revealed that increasingly more Californians are moving to Texas , but transplants are no longer loving Austin. Nearly 638,000 people left California in a single year, with almost 100,000 of them going to Texas, according to a report by StorageCafe . While California can be a great place to live – with everything from beaches to mountains and nice weather year-round, it can also be very expensive. Texas is 16.2 percent cheaper than California overall, which is likely why an average of 260 residents of the West Coast state are migrating to Texas every single day in search of less expensive housing, lower state taxes and cheaper groceries. While Houston has the highest population of all Texas cities with 2.3 million inhabitants, it's not the most popular choice for Californians who are fleeing the state. Austin is the fifth most inhabited state, with a population of 989,000 (below San Antonio, Dallas and Fort Worth), but it's been the top pick for those coming from the Golden State. Data shows that 10,633 Californians moved to Austin in 2023, and most of them were millennials. However people are already beginning to sour on Austin , while Houston is climbing the ranks in popularity. Houston's Harris County was found to be the second most sought-out destination among Californians. Housing in Houston is 60 percent cheaper than on the West Coast and renting is 30 percent cheaper. The city's economic diversity is also an appealing factor, with energy, manufacturing, aerospace and tech industries all having a presence. Podcasting titan Joe Rogan led the charge of people fleeing to Texas when he moved from Los Angeles to Houston with his family in 2020. Many of them followed him, but came to regret the decision. Comedian Tim Dillon moved to Austin in August 2020, but left by the end of the year after discovering that the city didn't have enough good restaurants. 'It's a horrible city without a soul,' he told fellow comedian Whitney Cummings. 'It's not the live music capital of America. It's three heroin addicts busking with guitars. There's zero talent here in any capacity,' he raged. 'There's three restaurants that are good and I've been to all of them twice.' He said on the H3 podcast that Austin 'can't be compared to New York and Los Angeles'. Comedian and MMA fighter Brendan Schaub, another one of Rogan's friends, ended up regretting moving from Los Angeles to Austin. The 42–year–old relocated his family to the city earlier this year, but confessed on his Fighter and the Kid podcast that he was 'heartbroken' about leaving Los Angeles and said he misses the city. 'I miss my community and my routine,' he admitted. Shane Gillis, who moved to Austin in 2023 because Texas has no state income tax, told fellow comedian Andrew Schulz 'Texas [expletive] blows.' He repeatedly complained about the homeless situation in Austin, calling the drug–crazed vagrants in town 'screaming runners.' Not only are Rogan's friends regretting their move to Austin, other celebrities and influencers who migrated are having second thoughts too. Transgender conservative influencer Blaire White announced that she was leaving Texas after four years to return to her home state of California. The 31–year–old left her Hollywood home in 2021 amid rising homelessness and moved to Austin, 'California in my opinion is the most beautiful place in the world. Yes, I said the world. Yes, I said the world. And it's even more of a shame because of that that it's run by demons.' Male model Lucky Blue Smith and his influencer wife Nara, who is famous for her trad wife content , left Los Angeles in 2022 to move to Dallas. However, within just two years the couple announced that they were leaving the city to live in Connecticut so that they could be closer to New York. In a TikTok video, Nara said that living in Connecticut would allow the couple to own a large house where they could raise their family, while still 'being closer to a bigger city for all the work that we do.' It's not only celebrities who have complaints. Jian Jiao moved from the Bay Area to Austin in 2021 , and his friend told him, 'You'll hate Austin. It's hot, boring, and there's no Asian population.' Two years later, he laid out the pros and cons of the city. His cons were bad traffic, roadwork, hard and expensive to find plumbers and electricians. Jiao said the seasons were so extreme that icy winters caused damage to pipes and cause trees to fall, meanwhile summers were so hot his kids couldn't play outside.

Flames and smoke force passengers to flee New York City area train

Flames leapt from the rails of a New York City area commuter train on Monday morning and smoke filled at least one car as passengers evacuated, according to authorities and video captured by a passenger. A roughly 30-second video posted to social media showed thick smoke on a Port Authority Trans-Hudson train car at the Newport station in Jersey City, New Jersey. People can be heard on the video saying 'open the door,' and 'easy, easy,' as they eventually disembark. The video then shows bright orange flames rising nearly to the top of the train car from the rails. The fire started at 6:19 a.m. on an eastbound train, and passengers were evacuated to the platform, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates the train, said in a statement. Thirteen people were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene, nine of whom were transported to the hospital for further evaluation, the Port Authority said. The incident is being investigated, it added. The PATH trains conduct an average of about 165,000 passenger trips daily across the Hudson River from northern New Jersey into Manhattan.
