Govt to credit amount in women beneficiaries' accounts in advance
Vijayawada: The State government decided to remit amount towards free gas cylinder into the accounts of women beneficiaries in advance as part of Deepam-2 scheme phase-3, which will commence from August.
The State Cabinet led by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu discussed at length over numerous complaints being received on the implementation of free gas cylinder scheme and finally decided to credit gas cylinder amount in advance into the accounts of women.
Minister for Civil Supplies Nadendla Manohar, revealing the decisions of the State Cabinet, said that due to logistic and transaction issues and numerous complaints received from women beneficiaries over the delay in crediting the amount into their accounts, the Cabinet decided to remit the amount in advance before the commencement of Phase 3 of Deepam scheme.
He said under Deepam-2 scheme in first phase, 99,70,000 women were benefited through delivery of free gas cylinder and in Phase 2, which is in force from April-July, 70,000 women booked free gas cylinders so far.
He said giving top priority for welfare of women, the coalition government decided to credit gas cylinder amount in advance into the accounts of women beneficiaries to improve their satisfaction levels.
It may be noted that the State government launched Deepam-2 free LPG cylinder scheme on October 31, 2024, during Diwali, aligning with its commitment to women's welfare, household financial security, and environmental conservation. With an annual expenditure of approximately Rs 3,000 crore, the scheme targets 1.1 crore eligible households, providing three free cylinders every year.
However, the free gas cylinder scheme has failed to satisfy the women beneficiaries, as they have to pay the cylinder amount and delay in reimbursement of the amount and due to snags in delivery mechanism. As the State government received numerous complaints from people over free gas cylinder scheme and delay in crediting money into their accounts, the State Cabinet led by the Chief Minister decided to credit the gas cylinder amount in advance into the accounts of women beneficiaries.
A part of it, the government will credit the gas cylinder amount into the account of around one crore women beneficiaries accounts in advance in Phase 3 which will commence from August.

The redesign was done as per the decision of the expert committee, technical committee and sub-committee. The technical committee gave many reports. Finally, the cabinet took the decision to build the three barrages. Rajendar clarified that he was not aware of the payment of Rs 59 crore to an agency for the preparation of DPR. The cabinet gave all approvals on Kaleshwaram and Corporation was also floated to raise funds for project construction. The previous government planned to borrow funds from the corporation and repay the loans. But, the funds were not collected by the corporation. However, all the funds for the project were released from the corporation and the role of the Finance department was nothing in the entire episode. The former Finance minister also said that the irrigation department was given the powers to borrow and pay the funds.

Security forces eliminate top Maoist leader with reward of Rs 45 Lakh

This includes a bounty of Rs 25 lakh in Chhattisgarh and Rs 20 lakhs in Telangana. Cabinet to meet twice a month to accelerate policy implementation
Hyderabad: In a bid to resolve pending administrative issues at higher level and accelerate the implementation of the welfare and development programmes in the state, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is said to have decided to hold one state Cabinet meeting every fortnight. Accordingly, there will be a second Cabinet meeting later this month. It is likely that Cabinet meetings are held on the first and third Saturday every month. During these meetings, the Cabinet will review every pending issue in every department and expedite policy making. Sources said that the next Cabinet meeting will also discuss the report submitted by the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) on the multi-purpose Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project. It would also discuss recommendations made by the Vigilance Commission against the irrigation officials involved in the construction of the project. In the marathon meeting held on Friday, Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy made a power point presentation on the NDSA report and the status of three barrages – Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla, which were damaged. Officials said that the Chief Minister will take a call on the NDSA and Vigilance Commission reports in the next Cabinet meeting. Sources said that the ministers brought to the notice of the Chief Minister the development works that were pending due to administrative hurdles. In a quick response, Revanth Reddy asked his Cabinet colleagues to come up with an action plan and detailed notes on such important issues in the next Cabinet meeting. The Chief Minister and ministers will also analyze the status of the progress of each scheme and development work in every Assembly constituency. They will rectify the pending issues, if any, immediately in consultation with the officials. If required, the Cabinet will also summon respective Secretaries to seek clarifications on the pending issues. Issues like farmers' welfare, clearance of pending bills of the government and retired employees, Indiramma houses, issuing of ration cards, job recruitments, irrigation projects and investigation in the phone tapping case, Formula E race case and Kaleshwaram scheme will be included in the agenda of every Cabinet meeting from this month. Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao has already been asked to prepare the list of the pending issues in every department and present the same in the next Cabinet meeting.
