31 Things Probably Designed By Geniuses July 2025

A pack of towel clips for anyone who can relate to the feeling of turning to dry your freshly washed hands, only to find your nice clean towel lying on the dirty floor. These handy clips will help keep your hanging towels in place so you can stop dripping water all over the floor while trying to find somewhere else to dry off. An outlet light, because having a night-light is super helpful... but if you already have a lot of electricity needs, it can be hard to find an available spot to plug one in. This one's built into the outlet itself, so you still have two places to plug in your laptop, toaster, phone charger, or whatever else you need! Promising review: "I don't like night-lights because they take up the wall outlet, so this was the perfect solution. I put it in the guest bath, and at night, with the bathroom door open, this provides just enough light to guide a person to the bathroom without blinding them. I ended up putting two on my hallway switches as well. What a great product." —LMKGet it from Amazon for $22.98+ (available in four colors and three sizes). A pair of moisturizing heel socks that'll do all their work while you're fast asleep. The inside of the sock is lined with jojoba seed oil, olive oil, and vitamin E oil, which will leave your heels soft and hydrated by morning! Reviewers say they're super comfortable to sleep in, PLUS you can wash and reuse with your own lotion. A handheld facial steamer so you can have a professional spa experience in your own home. This particular device uses a fancy ultrasonic vaporizer to create "nano steam," which is negatively charged ionic microdroplets of water that can penetrate your skin much deeper than normal steam, leaving it super soft and hydrated, while melting away oil, makeup, and debris. A self-cleaning broom and dustpan set for anyone who hates the way that dust and pet hair always gets stuck in the broom when you're just trying to do a quick sweep. This dustpan has teeth brilliantly designed to scrape all that stuff out of your broom's bristles so that it falls right into the pan. That's one less thing for you to clean, and now your time spent sweeping will actually be productive instead of just feeling like you're spreading the dust around your floors. A fruit and veggie divider, because who feels like spending time cutting up a refreshing snack by hand when this helpful tool can get it done way faster? Not me!! This brilliant tool makes the process so ridiculously easy that even kids can use it. An organic cat grass growing kit to give your feline friend a healthy and delicious snack that'll help distract them from treating your houseplants like an all-you-can-eat (and potentially toxic) salad bar. It's full of nutrients, can help aid in digestion and prevent hairballs, and it'll look lovely next to all of your other greenery! An interlocking tool if you're tired of spending money on salon trips and want an easier, faster, and less expensive way to maintain your locs on your own at home. The flexible, strong, and nonslip material makes it a breeze to securely lock your hair close to your scalp without pain or snagging, and will leave you with super sleek-looking results! An Owala stainless-steel water bottle that has swiftly become the Internet's favorite tumbler, and not just because it looks nice (although it does look really stylish)! The brilliant spout design allows you to sip through the built in straw or tilt the bottle back to swig (or chug) through the wider opening. Then simply close the push-button lid for a leak proof lock and convenient carry loop you can rely on. And did I mention it keeps drinks seriously cold for up to 24 hours? Because it does. The hype is real! An adorable, and surprisingly powerful rechargeable handheld fan — it's lightweight enough to toss into your bag in case the heat starts to get to you while you're on the go. Plus, it can also be folded to stand on its own if you want to leave it running on your desk! And it's not just a fan — this lil' guy can be a flashlight *and* a power bank too! A pet hair cleaner you can rake over any non-knit fabrics to easily pull out way more fur than you even thought was there. It barely requires any effort, works super fast, and will DEEP CLEAN those parts of your home where the pet hair really builds up. A high-frequency skin therapy wand that is truly like a magic wand when it comes to seriously rejuvenating your skin and helping reduce acne, stretch marks, wrinkles, dark spots, and more. Reviewers have even found that it can help stimulate hair growth! A shower foot massager and scrubber to deep clean your feet while giving them a lil' massage that they'll appreciate after a long day. Promising review: "I love the foot massager for my shower. When soap is added and I rub my feet on it, it feels so good and also cleans the daily dirt off. I love to go barefoot outside in my yard, so they definitely need a scrubbing and a massage. I do recommend it highly!!" —Phyllis BurnsGet it from Amazon for $8.99+ (available in two colors and sizes). A set of Minnie Mouse ear scrunchies for all the Disney kids and Disney kids-at-heart out there who wanna give a lil' nod to their favorite character. These will look super cute in your hair or around your wrist! An adorably tiny picnic table that's easy to attach to your fence or a tree so you can watch your neighborhood squirrels enjoy the feast of their dreams. Here's why BuzzFeed writer Heather Braga loves this: "I recently gifted this to my brother-in-law, who had already managed to gain the trust of his local squirrels (by leaving peanuts out for them in a bowl in front of his house). It's been DELIGHTFUL to receive photos from him of the bushy-tailed creatures snackin' away. This really is the gift that keeps on giving." Get it from DelgadoHCTreasures on Etsy for $35. A ceiling fan carbon filter — simply stick it to the top of your ceiling fan blades, where it'll help reduce allergens in the air like dust, pet dander, pollen, and gases — all on its own, while remaining out of sight. The second reviewer below even found that these filters prevented dust from building up as quickly on furniture! A wall-mounted, fold-down desk perfect for tiny workspaces. It's got a bunch of little cubbyholes to hold your essentials, a corkboard you can pin reminders and to-do lists to, and best of all — it takes up ZERO floor space. Simply fold up the desk when you aren't using it, and it becomes a cute little cabinet! Promising review: 'This cute little desk is sturdy and well-made for the price. It installed easily and is incredibly space-saving. We love its functionality and how nice it looks in the wall!' –GingerGet it from Walmart for $137.96. A pack of triangle makeup puffs brilliantly designed so you can use the pointed end to reach every nook and cranny when applying your concealer and foundation. It's also great for smoothing out any creases! Then, just fip it around and use the wider side when covering larger areas. These are super soft and comfy to use, and will give you stunning results with ease! A a set of washable cleaning cloths, because keeping your mirrors, windows, appliances, and other surfaces looking shiny and clean doesn't have to be a time-consuming pain. Simply wet these with water, and watch in amazement as the grease, grime, and dirt wipes away easily — leaving zero streaks behind! Then simply throw 'em in the wash so you can reuse! A duck tote bag that, pardon my language, is just so ducking adorable. And sure, I could talk all about how the straps are adjustable for the perfect fit, and how it comes in two sizes, and is incredibly versatile — but I can't seem to stop focusing on its cute little feet, send help! A closet rod you can hang from your existing one so you can finally fit all of your clothes in an organized fashion. Promising review: "Sturdy and light-weight, this closet rod doubled my available space in seconds. There is plenty of space on the top rod for longer shirts and tops and shorter ones fit perfectly on the lower rod, without gracing the floor. Hangers stay in place and don't slide to one end or the other based on how heavy items are and so far the rod hasn't sagged or bowed at all. And I have all my sweatshirts and heavy fleece jackets on the bottom rod. Space will obviously depend on the height of the closet rod you hang this from, but I would highly recommend this for anyone with need of more closet space!!" —CCBunEGet it from Amazon for $20.60. A folding wall organizer to banish those papers piling up your desk to the wall instead, so you can stop feeling so cluttered and overwhelmed. Plus, you can easily fold it up and take it to go! The bottom pocket is large enough for me to store my day planner. I mounted it to the wall with a command hook, and it was easy peasy! An attractive and functional way to sort and store paper. I love having all the papers I need readily available and visible so it reminds me that they're there, but they are not overtaking my desk and irritating me." —MandyGet it from Amazon for $7.20+ (available in four colors and three sizes). A handheld steam cleaner if you want something powerful to take care of tough messes *without* using chemicals! This device will do an impressive job of cleaning sinks, grills, shower curtains, furniture, pet mattresses, cars, clothing, and more using hot pressurized steam and nothing else! A wood polish and conditioner with beeswax and orange oil that'll impressively hide those dings and scratches making your floors, doors, furniture, and other wood surfaces look old and dingy. Now you can put off replacing them and save some $$$! Promising review: "I never write reviews. This stuff is amazing. I tried to see if it could get rid of some water marks on a table we frequently use. It turned into a wood-polishing party at 11 p.m. on a Saturday; three tables, a wooden trunk from the 1800s, and a carved hutch from the 1600s, and I'm absolutely blown away. It is honestly a miracle product. And it doesn't have a nasty smell. I get migraines from certain scents, and this stuff is a light citrus scent and nothing that's too heavy. Seriously, I would give it 10 stars!" — it from Amazon for $8.98. A ventilated gel memory foam pillow designed to maximize air circulation and regulate temperature so both sides are the cool side. Plus, the memory foam makes this pillow much more comfortable for your head, neck, and shoulders. Promising review: "This pillow is just what I was looking for! I am a side sleeper and tend to place my arm underneath my pillow, so this works perfectly for me — it molds around my arm so I barely even notice it. I have had issues with other pillows being either too fluffy or too hard, but this one is soft while still giving me the support I need. It stays cool throughout the night and remains firm in the right places. The memory foam pillow was packed nicely and tightly, and I let it air out for about 48 hours before using it. There were no problems with any odor, like other memory foam pillows and mattress toppers. I plan on purchasing more for my home in the near future." —JoelGet it from Amazon for $29.73+ (available in three sizes) and check out our full review of this pillow here! You can hang this one on a towel rack for easy access or store it in a cabinet if you'd rather they be out of sight out of mind when not in use. Promising review: "I have a ridiculously small bathroom and a super small vanity. After too many instances of my dryer and straightener falling to the floor, I went searching for an option to get them off the nonexistent counter and onto the towel holder next to my sink. This product has done the trick — it helps me keep my counter space organized and provides me with a great, heat-resistant holder to place them in while I'm working through my hair. Highly recommend!" —Amazon CustomerGet it from Amazon for $24.99 (available in three styles). Or, check out an over-cabinet styling station. A pack of Pacifica underarm deodorant wipes to keep you smelling fresh when you're overdue for a shower but simply don't have the time to spare. Plus, they're vegan and cruelty-free!Promising review: "I have always suffered from bad odor on my underarms because I have very delicate skin, so I can't use strongly scented deodorants. THIS IS THE BEST INVENTION EVER. I can't believe that something finally works! My armpits don't smell bad; I can finally move my arms freely. The scent is wonderful — I love the smell, and it is not harsh on my skin. Even after a long day, my underarms are still smelling like coconut." —Vicky Reyes Get it from Amazon for $8.99 (available in multipacks). An incredible 3D-printed floating coffee sculpture for anyone whose two true loves are art *and* caffeine. It might just make you take a second look and wonder if you've been frozen in time! An easy-to-use pot that lets you steam meat and veggies while your rice cooks below. You can also use it to make oatmeal, chili, and soup! If you're not trying to spend a whole lot on a fancier cooker, but still wanna expand your menu, this thing is a great start. Promising review: "I had been searching for a food steamer. I am not a good cook at all. I've just never been someone who is a natural in the kitchen, so I wanted something simple so that everything could be done at the same time, and I was looking for more healthy options as well. Holy. Crap. I am obsessed, this steamer makes me feel like I'm a chef at a 5-star restaurant. A bit of a stretch, but I bought this more than two months ago, and I use it at least three to four times a week. The price, I couldn't beat it!! I make rice in the bottom, and I steam chicken, salmon, broccoli, asparagus, green beans, corn, Brussels sprouts, and really anything. My only regret is not buying this sooner; I feel like such an amazing cook. If I ever get a boyfriend, I will hopefully blow him away with my very simple yet extravagantly simple cooking! Hahahah. I wish they had a bigger size because I love this size for just me, but it would be AMAZING to have a bigger size to make food for parties and meal prepping :) I'm so happy, truly my favorite Amazon purchase that I've gotten so much use out of." — it from Amazon for $16.99+ (available in three colors). And finally, an electronics brush and rubber scraper designed to help you clean those nearly impossible-to-reach parts of your devices where dust and dirt just looooove to build up. The brush part retracts into the body of the gadget when it's not in use, to protect the bristles and prevent them from collecting any unwanted dirt or dust. Promising reviews: "Well-designed and easy to use when it comes to removing dust/debris that gets caught on my phone. It's the only tool so far that can fit in the hard-to-reach areas between my screen protector and phone case. Very useful tool at a good price too!" —Kristina"My laptop hasn't been so clean since I bought it! Much better than compressed air cleaning. Using the rubbery end, you can even clean off the finger-tracker, and using the little brush, you get out all those annoying little crumbs and pieces of stuff that both impede your keyboard performance and make it look dirty. I wish I had taken before and after pictures — the difference is astonishing! I was skeptical, but this little tool is worth the price." —USA CustomerGet it on Amazon for $6.99+ (available in two colors).

I thought I was bored with the Nintendo Switch 2 — but then I played Donkey Kong Bananza

I've played platforming video games most of my life, but I've never played one quite like Donkey Kong Bananza. In fact, it's easily one of the most unique games of any genre. Going in, I expected an experience similar to Super Mario Odyssey since that core team developed the latest Donkey Kong adventure. However, while there are certainly elements of that title and other games, Donkey Kong Bananza does its own thing to a masterful degree. For an old-timer like me, it's a welcome breath of fresh air. If you own a Nintendo Switch 2, I don't have to sell you on this game since you probably already own it. That said, if you've been keeping up with our Nintendo Switch 2 restock live blog and want another reason to get excited about Nintendo's latest console/handheld hybrid, then you should read on to see why you're in for a treat with Donkey Kong Bananza. It's truly something special. Donkey Kong Bananza is available now! This game allows DK to smash his way through (and down into) the surrounding terrain. He can punch his way through mountains or head underground in search of collectibles. It's hands-down one of the Switch 2's biggest titles. Additional retailers: Amazon | GameStop| Walmart We've had games with destructible environments before, but Donkey Kong Bananza takes things to a whole new level—literally and figuratively. With some exceptions, such as steel structures, you're able to destroy just about anything you come across. That's not only technically impressive, but it opens up gameplay possibilities you don't have in other platformers. Donkey Kong Bananza has a slew of collectibles hidden across its worlds just like with other platformers. However, the difference here is that items are often hidden within the terrain. Instead of looking for items with your naked eye, you have to consider that what you're looking for could be right underneath your feet. This forces you to explore the land much differently than you would even in other 3D platformers. The verticality involved is a game-changer. The destructible terrain is also a major component for traversal. You can tear a chunk off the ground and use that piece to surf around, which can be useful if the floor is covered in thorns or poison. Likewise, some platforms only manifest when you throw specific pieces at them. I won't spoil it all here, but some of the traversal options this game offers are quite clever. Naturally, you'll face enemies and bosses that also use the terrain for offense and defense. This keeps you on your toes, since you can't just simply punch some enemies to defeat them. If you've seen the trailers, then you know Donkey Kong can turn into other animals. Some of these can use the terrain in different ways, such as being able to turn mud into gold. Discovering an enemy's weakness and using the right countermeasure never stops being fun. This last point isn't just for platformers, but video games in general. With the exception of perhaps the God of War-inspired Dante's Inferno (yes, that was a video game), I can't think of many games where the narrative has you going deeper and deeper into a planet. I'm sure others exist, but few come to mind. Working your way down to the planet's center creates a fantastic sense of progression and adventure that few games I've played can match. Given its pedigree and iconic protagonist, I knew I'd have a blast with Donkey Kong Bananza. That said, I wasn't expecting to have such a distinctive gaming experience. I've been disappointed by games that claimed to have brand-new gameplay mechanics too many times, so it's nice to see a title far exceed what I expected. Playing this game reminds me of how limitless gaming felt during the golden era of the '90s. It's a great feeling to have again, even at my age. Though I've completed Donkey Kong Bananza's main quest, I plan to dig deep (pun intended) into the post-game content. This is a game that rewards exploration, so I fully expect to be as amazed by all the things I've yet to discover. And even if it's more of the same, that's fine by me, because I'm sure it will still be a unique experience.

5 top new movies to stream this week on Netflix, HBO Max and more (July 22-28)

We're in the middle of summer, and the weather outside is certainly good enough that sitting at home watching movies might not be your top priority. However, the best streaming services are hoping to tempt you to stay indoors with a host of new flicks to watch this week. The biggest arrival is the debut of the long-awaited sports sequel 'Happy Gilmore 2' on Netflix. Adam Sandler is once again donning the hockey jersey of one of his most beloved comedy characters and stepping back onto the green for another round of anger-fueled golf. Plus, in the premium video-on-demand streaming world, 'Dangerous Animals' and 'Materialists' are hoping to convince you they're worth the rental fee, and they both make a good case for themselves. Below are my picks for the top new movies you can stream this week across all the biggest streaming services around. And don't forget to check out our companion guide to the best new TV shows you'll want to binge-watch over the next seven days. 'Jaws' is celebrating its 50th anniversary this summer, but if revisiting the Steve Speilberg classic isn't enough shark action for you, you might want to consider 'Dangerous Animals,' which frankly makes 'Jaws' look like a pleasant day at the beach. While the flimsy narrative has more holes in it than a surfboard chewed by a great white, Jai Courtney's deliciously unhinged performance is reason enough to give this intense thriller a watch. Zephyr (Hassie Harrison) is a drifter traveling around Australia's sunny Gold Coast who is abducted by a deranged serial killer called Tucker (Courtney) while going for a spot of surfing late at night. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Awaking chained to a bed in the hull of a rusty boat, Zephyr learns that Tucker has an obsession with sharks and feeds his various victims to these sharp-toothed sea creatures while filming the whole thing on a battered old camcorder. With time running out, Zephyr must find a way to escape and stop Tucker's reign of terror before she can become shark chum. Buy or rent on Amazon from July 21 In 2023, writer/director Celine Song blew me away with 'Past Lives.' It was among my favorite films of the year, and to this day ranks as perhaps the most heartachingly romantic movie I've ever watched. Her follow-up is 'Materialists,' and while the reception hasn't been quite as universally positive as it was for her debut, I'm still very eager to check this out. More of a romantic comedy than a romantic drama, and mining the well-worn genre trope of trying to find love in the increasingly tumultuous modern dating world, 'Materialists' stars Dakota Johnson as a New York City matchmaker who finds himself stuck in a thorny love triangle. On one side is the seemingly perfect guy (Pedro Pascal), and on the other is her imperfect ex-boyfriend (Chris Evans). Good luck choosing between them. Buy or rent on Amazon from July 21 I previously named "Until Dawn" as one of the top five worst movies I've seen in theatres in 2025 so far (and I've seen nearly 50 of them), so I can't exactly give this slasher horror a ringing endorsement. But, if you're a huge fan of the 2014 video game which inspired it, or just want a trashy horror that you can watch while also mocking alongside friends or a loved one, then 'Until Dawn' might fit the bill. At least now it's on Netflix, you don't have to pay a rental fee. This is a video game adaptation that is very loosely inspired by the PlayStation title from which it takes its name, as the characters, setting and location have all been changed. Instead of taking place in a snowy mountaintop cabin like the game, this version of 'Until Dawn' sees a group of friends trapped in a secluded house, and also stuck in a time loop. Each new loop brings a new terror, and it's their mission to survive the night and break free. Watch on Netflix from July 24 'Death of a Unicorn' is a horror-comedy with moments of fun, but it never quite manages to blend the two genres successfully enough to take full advantage of its admittedly novel premise. It falls into a less-exciting middle ground, and the subpar effects on the titular mythical creatures don't help much either. At least, a solid cast adds some star power with Paul Rudd, Jenna Ortega and Richard E. Grant all involved and giving it their all throughout. The movie opens with a father (Rudd) and his spiky teenage daughter (Ortega) heading to an important business weekend where the former hopes to complete a lucrative business deal. On the way, they accidentally hit and kill a unicorn. Bringing the creature's corpse to the home of the father's billionaire boss kickstarts a chain of increasingly chaotic events. As the wealthy Leopold family, headed up by the smarmy Odell (Grant), looks to exploit the unicorn's healing properties for personal financial gain, nature fights back as a pack of vicious horned creatures arrive on the scene and cause complete chaos. Watch on HBO Max from July 25 Andy Sandler is stepping back onto the green as the long-awaited sequel to 'Happy Gilmore' arrives on Netflix this week. It's been almost 30 years since we last saw Gilmore, but it doesn't appear he's done all that much maturing in those decades. Based on the trailers, this comedy looks just as rage-fueled and loud-mouthed as its predecessor. Curiously, the plot of 'Happy Gilmore 2' is being kept under wraps, with Netflix itself not even offering an official logline, but based on the trailer, we can surmise that the sequel sees Gilmore come out of retirement and return to the professional golf scene to pay for his daughter's ballet school. It seems a standard setup for a sequel, but maybe there's a hidden twist? Questions can be asked about whether we need a 'Happy Gilmore' sequel after all this time, but I'm confident this original movie will be a Netflix hit and go straight to No. 1 in the streaming service's top 10 most-watched list. Watch on Netflix from July 25
