Dhruv Jurel, stepping in as wicketkeeper in place of the injured Rishabh Pant, faced criticism for his underwhelming display behind the stumps on Day 4 of the Lord's Test.

Rishabh Pant is out of action as he sustained a finger injury, thus, Dhruv Jurel took the role of the wicketkeeper again on Day 4 of the Lord s Test. He had previously created an impact with a fantastic catch to dismiss Ollie Pope in the first inning, yet Day 4 marked a new test. His reflexes have been challenged against an unpredictable bounce of the pitch during the session and his day was worse off with his drop on a clear catch of the very first ball after lunch, something which earned criticism by the fans on social media.

The injury of Rishabh Pant has seen India a bit shaken up, as the stand-in Keeper Dhruv Jurel had a very tricky time keeping wickets on the Day 4. On his feet, Jurel has at times not been able to pick up deliveries cleanly against Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj. He dropped a simple catch off Joe Root which was edged by Akash just after lunch. Luckily to India, it was a no-ball declared by the umpire, so the missed chance did not matter.
But Indian viewers who watched Jurel making the drop in real-time were not very understanding and they tweeted to express their anger. The following are some of the criticisms on the performance of the young wicket keeper:

he second innings of England collapsed to 192 during the third session on Day 4 of Lord Pier Test. Washington Sundar was the best bowler of India in the innings as he took 4 wickets. India, meanwhile, have to score the total of 193 to win the game.

Deepti Sharma played one of the best knocks of her career in what was turning out to be tricky run-chase at The Rose Bowl in Southampton as India took a 1-0 lead in three-match ODI series. Coming into bat at 124/4 in a run-chase of 259, Deepti struck an unbeaten 62 off 64 balls and stitched together a 90-run partnership with Jemimah Rodrigues, who was once again impressive at No 5 for India. With a little help from Amanjot Kaur in the end, who played a handy cameo of 20 off 14 balls, India got home in 48.2 overs to open the series with an impressive win. Earlier in the day, young seamer Kranti Goud impressed with two wickets upfront before Sophia Dunkley's unbeaten 92-ball 83 lifted England to a respectable 258 for six after opting to bat first and being trouble before the halfway stage when the wicket of captain Nat Sciver-Brunt fell at 87/4. Besides Goud (2/55 in 9 overs), off-spinner Sneh Rana (2/31 in 10 overs) too picked up two wickets to continue her good form since coming back into the ODI side (although the latter left the field with an apparent hamstring issue later on). Alice Davidson-Richards contributed 53 in 73 balls during a 106-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Dunkley, which formed the nucleus of the England innings after they lost four wickets for 97 runs. Dunkley struck nine fours during her stay in the middle. Asked to bowl first, India enjoyed early success as Goud dismissed Amy Jones with a stunning delivery for her first international wicket in her second ODI. However, England lost both the set batters in the space of two overs with off-spinner Sneh Rana inflicting the damage on the home side by sending back Lamb (39 off 50 balls) and Sciver-Brunt (41 off 52 balls). The pressure got to Lamb as she hit one straight to mid-off after England failed to a get a boundary for five overs. As for Sciver-Brunt, she drove Rana uppishly for Jemimah Rodrigues to pull off an excellent catch. Dunkley and Alice then came to the home team's rescue, but both were aided by dropped catches during their partnership, with Goud and Rodrigues putting down relatively easy chances that could have helped India restrict England to a much lower total. The 37-year-old has been named in the squad for the five-match series, but the first two games which are set to be played at Sabina Park in Jamaica, his home ground, will be his final appearances for the West Indies. Russell has only played T20Is for West Indies since 2019. He has featured in 84 matches, scoring 1,078 runs at an average of 22.00 and a strike rate of 163.08. He has hit three half-centuries, with a best score of 71. With the ball, he has taken 61 wickets at an average of 30.59, with best figures of 3/19. His retirement comes just months ahead of the next ICC T20 World Cup, which will be held in India and Sri Lanka in February 2026. Russell is the second big-name player to retire from West Indies recently, after Nicholas Pooran stepped away at the age of 29. In his overall international career, Russell played just one Test match. He also played 56 ODIs, scoring 1,034 runs at an average of 27.21 and a strike rate above 130. He had four half-centuries in ODIs, with a top score of 92 not out. He also took 70 wickets in the format, with best figures of 4/35.
